used mario for my wedding gown and my bridesmaids, he's fabulous and did a great job and didn't break the bank. 10/10

I had previously gotten alterations on my wedding dress with someone else and they were terrible and telling me the things I was asking for were not possible. Well, I eventually took it to Mario and he was confident that it was all possible. And he did it! Trying my dress on after he worked his magic was the best moment! I also brought him my second dress and he recommended some simple but important alterations to make it perfect. He is fast, talented, and affordable. I'm so glad I found Mario! read more

My wedding dress needed a lot of help to come to life and fit my body right. Mario handled it all so well. Even when we later needed some more complicated alterations to hem the dress and lift the intricate lace at the end, he was able to "do surgery" to alter it perfectly. I truly cannot tell it was altered. He did this all for a very fair price and was very straightforward on the cost which I appreciate. I would recommend him for any wedding dress or wedding related alteration service for sure. Thank you so much Mario! read more

What an experience!!! Mario is the sweetest person. He was so kind and helpful. He is very knowledgeable and knows what he's doing. I bought in a gown and needed some alterations and honestly, it was a bit pricey for me. I told him I couldn't really afford the cost and he told me what to do to make some of the alterations myself and he'll finish it up. He even gave me the matching thread to take home to do some of the alterations myself. He went out of his way to shorten the dress for me at no cost. He just grab a pair of scissors and trimmed it from the bottom. Honestly, i can't say enough about him. He truly is a down to earth person and very kind. I highly recommend him. read more

Just got my photos back . The dress looks beautiful. When I first gave Mario the dress , I couldn't sit down. He widened the dress at my hips because I have bigger hips and added a corset on the inside ! He really made everything perfect . Thanks again! read more

Excellent, excellent, excellent!!! True professional!! Took my daughter's senior prom dress in to have zipper fixed and add a couple things. Mr. Ramo made a couple suggestions because my daughter's dress didn't fit quite right. I must admit, I was a little nervous. With her prom only two weeks away, I was afraid she wouldn't like the changes. We put our trust in Mr. Ramo. OMG!! Gorgeous!! What a job!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!! Wish I had taken a before photo. Here's the after. Any and all of our alterations will now be done here! read more

I haven't yet gotten my dress back, but i'm already giving 5 stars simply for how comfortable he made me in the process and how knowledgeable he is. He's making my wedding dress as I could not find anything in any bridal boutique that was exactly what I wanted. Long story short I went to meet with him for a consultation and he gave me so many good recommendations and can practically do anything you want, for a reasonable price! His timing is also really great compared to others. Highly recommend checking him out if you're looking for custom pieces. read more

When I purchased my wedding dress from BHLDN, they provided me with a list of tailors that were located in the city. I knew I didn't want to have to schlep in with my dress so I started looking for a place on Long Island. I saw that Mario was conveniently located between work and my parents house and had good reviews so I decided to give him a call and I'm so glad that I did. The first time I put my dress on in his shop he pointed out all the things I wanted altered before I said a word. His work is impeccable and my dress looked like it had been made just for me. read more

I was in a pinch after loosing 30lbs before my brothers wedding. I had my bridesmaids dress but it was about 3 sizes too large. Mario did the perfect alterations and it was like the dress was made for me. Also for my mom we were looking to get her a hat and shawl to match her dress. Mario made the cutest hat and the perfect shawl for my mom that she and all the guest loved. read more

Mario Ramo Couture - After alterations vs before alterations. Looks like a completely new dress!! So happy! - Sewing & Alterations Near Me - New Hyde Park, New York

I was panicking / procrastinating getting my wedding dress altered, and I found Mario via a desperate google search and Yelp. What a stroke of luck - He is absolutely wonderful! When I pulled up to his space, I was admittedly a little nervous. His space is smaller than I expected and in a residential neighborhood, but I chose to trust what I read via Yelp, and I am SO grateful I did! He was kind, attentive, HONEST, and reassuring. He was able to alter my wedding dress to perfection within 2 weeks, leaving me 2 weeks to spare "just in case." He was personable and gave very helpful advice on what type of veil will (and will not) compliment my dress. In fact, I was so happy, my spouse had her wedding-suit tailored/altered here as well. If you walk in and feel uncertain, trust the reviews!! His work is stunning. I had the dress shortened, buttons reinforced, cups added, the dress altered (some spaces taken in, others let out), and a subtle bustle added (I was SO impressed with the bustle addition). I strongly recommend. He is clearly an expert. read more

Mario saved me on multiple occasions! I love him so much. He basically reconstructed my wedding dress a few weeks before my wedding. He traveled all over to find the perfect lace to match my mess of a dress. He even helped me to hide whatever problems areas I did not want exposed. Everything was perfect. I am forever grateful to Mario. read more

Mario saves the day!... Really he does. I purchased my wedding dress at a sample sale brand new. I needed a few alterations( shoulders) and a bustle. I shopped all around for my alterations. I visited shops in Brooklyn, Suffolk County, Manhattan. Most of the shops quoted prices more than my gorgeous Pronovias gown. I was disappointed, shedded tears and was on the verge of spending more than I anticipated for my alterations. I finally found Mario with a few Google and Yelp searches. He was personable and was able to fit me into his already tight summer/fall calendar. He explained the process (3 fittings before the big day) and marked and kept my dress. I visited him for a morning appointment and my last appointment he stayed open later for me to have my final fitting. My dress fit perfectly! Mario's attention to detail, personality and his on par pricing makes him my tailor of choice. His quote was by far the most reasonable I received and he cared for my wedding process and all the emotions that go along with care. I recommend him to everyone. Thank you Mario. read more

I cannot say enough good things about Mario and his business. He is an old school professional. He did a perfect job restoring my mother's wedding gown for my daughter to get married in. Thank you again! read more

Masterful alterations. Fast and cost effective. Very talented and accommodating, Mario is wonderful to work with!

Mario is a fabulous dressmaker. He helped me design and create my dream wedding dress by using a simple silk dress I purchased and deconstructing it while applying lace pieces from my moms wedding dress as well as beads from my grandmothers dress. Mario is extremely detailed and creative and helped to advise me what to do and not to do. He was so easy to work with since his shop is a block from the train station. I am so pleased with the final dress and everyone absolutely loved what I did, especially those who were at my parents wedding and remembered the dress couldn't believe it. I highly recommend Mario for your custom dress needs! Thank you Mario !! xo read more

I had an excellent experience with Mario. He was able to tailor a Kurta (Indian outfit for guys) for me, in a short amount of time for an upcoming wedding (I was the best man). He was able to work with what I had, took measurements and with clever cuts and resourcefulness he was able to cut a nice fitting outfit for the wedding. I got many compliments and was confident the whole night. read more

Mario was absolutely amazing!! I brought in my wedding gown for alterations and customizations and as beautiful as the gown was after his work, I almost wish I had had him create a gown for my from scratch! His work is divine, his professionalism unmatched, and I knew he would make my gown the one-of-a-kind gown I should wear! The compliments I received have been constant!! Thank Mario! He does fantastic work. I have a dress for a wedding in a couple weeks and he was able to do the alterations on the dress and in pretty short notice. I really appreciate the time he was able to get the dress done in. I was really worried that my bridesmaid dress was going to look awful because of the time constraints as I had just moved back to ny. But it looks amazing he was able to make me look 1 million times better in the dress and that's great. I would 100% recommend him to others if you're looking for alterations or for custom made things. He has tons of pictures and things to show off what he's done and you can tell him everything that he puts a lot of care into his work. I will definitely go back to him with any alterations I need in the future. read more

I found Mario on Yelp and took a shot in the dark. He is wonderful! I had less then 4 weeks to get my bridal gown, 2 bridesmaids gowns and a flower girl dress fully altered. He is brutally honest (very necessary when you are looking for honest opinions)and told me where my dress needed help in terms of making it look the absolute best on my body. Everything worked out great and I was happy with the results. He made each gown(bridesmaids gowns) slightly unique to my specifications showing the personality of each girl. Must Read: I had an unique situation. I was pregnant and my wedding dress had been altered by someone who didnt know what they were doing. My husband searched the internet for someone to help us bc our wedding was only 3 days away. He came across Mario Ramo. Last year i almost got married in another dress but he saved my wedding. Knowing our situation, he could have charged us whatever but his price was fair and i respect his honesty. We are a young couple on a fixed income and when i look back at last year, and think of the events leading up to when i said"i do", i feel so grateful for this man and his talent! I went to Mario for my wedding dress fittings. My dress was from BHLDN, and it was almost the right size. It needed to be hemmed and taken in a little on the sides. Mario was so friendly and set me at ease immediately. I was unsure about exactly how long my dress should be, but Mario knew exactly what to do, and then he did it perfectly! My dress fit beautifully, and I was incredibly comfortable and happy on my wedding day. I deeply appreciate the high quality of Mario's work, and I will be back for any future dress fittings! read more

Mario is a talented designer! He changed the look of my daughters wedding gown by adding the most beautiful drop lace removable sleeve. My daughter-n-law had to do two weddings (three if you do not count getting the marriage license and short ceremony) - 1 very religious and the second the party. In as much I would have loved for him to make each one from the start, we bought two basic dresses. He was a magician. He transformed each dress into a work of art incorporating the theme (religious vs party) and wove it into the dress. The religious one met all the specifications required and the party one made her feel that she was floating on the dance floor! The additions that he put on the dress (belt with crystals), added straps that were removable, unseen pinups for the train so she will not trip over herself while dancing and other items added so much. I found him highly professional, flexible, creative and friendly with an astute ability to work with the bride's emotional trends. We were all so very happy with the results and would recommend him without reservation. read more
