We're buying a boat from friends that have a very full plate right now. They wanted to pay Norm to complete all the documentations. I called him to ask what we needed to do and what he'll be doing for our friends. His answers were curt. I explained I was trying to understand and was watching out for them like a daughter does her parents. When I asked his fee he said "I won't work with you" then hung up! WHAT?? How and why you have to pay theses people to buy a boat is beyond me but that is not the issue. The issue is customer service. If your going to pay them at least they could be nice. I paid these guys to do a transaction and it was as if I was an inconvenience. Maybe in the big yacht world of Anacortes Wa. the small fish get the bad service and that's fine however there seem to be a lot of small fish buying boats. The next boat I buy I will use a Seattle Service, at least there I am hoping there will be someone who will and can walk me through the process. If I could do a 0, I would. They should be out of business. First of all, the ding dong at the front desk has no clue. We gave her our new address at least 3 different times and still, when we finally got our mail, they left off our Post office box number. Thank god the people at the Post knew who we were and put the mail in our slot. They were seriously very important papers we needed. Then the ding dong that is supposed to do the paperwork (Sonia?) doesn't do her job properly and I hear she's been with the company for years. How is this person employed?????? After we had our boat 8 months, we find out that the previous paperwork on the loan was not signed off properly so they couldn't send in the paperwork for the Coast Guard documentation. But do you think they would call us and tell us that? NO!!! Finally we call them (hence, the 8 months) and she said she'd fix it. It's been 18 MONTHS now, and we still haven't got our documentation and she has the nerve to tell us it's the Coast Guard that is holding it up. FOR A YEAR?? We are selling the boat and thank god we don't have to deal with this joke of a company anymore. read more

I know what the companies do, I know what they're supposed to do and I know how well they're doing the job. Marine Documentation is excellent and I recommend them without hesitation. Before I used Marine Documentation I saw the negative reviews on Yelp. They appear to have been written by people with little or no experience or knowledge about companies like Marine Documentation and what the companies do. Sonya and Tommie were friendly, fast and efficient. Bought a yacht and tender to be exported from the US into Canada. Yacht was USCG registered, while tender was registered in WA state which added a bit to the work. Documentation was flawless and fast. On top of that MDS introduced me to their recommended Vancouver BC money trader for the Canada/US FX money purchase to close the deal. Comparing and then using their resource saved me almost $3,000 in foreign exchange over what my bank in Canada would have charged. Fully worth it. read more
