The outside of the business looks to be like a festive Mexican place. The colors of the name stand out from the rest of the building. There is outdoor seating overlooking the lake. I have found that parking can be a bit dicey during the busier times, which was the case on my most recent visit. The inside of the business is a festive Mexican scene too with all the art along the walls and such throughout. The overall vibe is part Mexican, part Bar Scene. It's actually a great combo for them.
It had been a few years since I had been there before my first recent visit on March 30, 2026. I was going through stuff for an early spring cleaning, and found a coupon (that didn't have an expiration date). It was so old that it still listed locations for their sister restaurant El Tapatio (no longer around). This was the catalyst that got both myself and my mom to come back in. Speaking of coupons, they do honor coupons from their competitors too.
On the first recent visit (March 30, 2026), we were immediately greeted and went to a booth. A server came over and brought the chips and salsa right away. When our server came over, which was pretty quick, we did ask to have the white sauce too (by request now). When he came back, I showed him the coupon and he went over to check with the manager. Ultimately, that coupon was able to be used on this visit.
It was now time to start ordering while still looking over the menu. We started with the Small Cheese Dip Appetizer. This is something I get most of the time when going to a Mexican restaurant, though I will switch out to guacamole sometimes. It didn't take long for the cheese dip to come out. I don't normally drink alcohol, but I did on this visit, and I would try the Bloody Maria. My mom would get Pepsi on this visit. It would still take us a bit longer to choose something since there is so much to choose from. After another few minutes, we were finally ready to order. I ordered the Burritos Mexicanos with Chicken as the protein (no rice), while my mom got the Chimichangas with ground beef as the protein.
In a little under ten minutes, the food came out to the table, and it was very hot, which is what I would expect. Both entrees looked really good. The burritos looked small, but they were packed with chicken and flavor. My mom really liked the Chimichangas as well. Since this visit was so good, we came back a few weeks later on April 10, 2026.
On the April 10, 2026 visit, parking was pretty limited, which I am not surprised since it was a Friday evening and the weather was nice. This second visit was very similar to the one a few weeks before. On this visit, we ordered the Tableside Guacamole, but exclude the serrano peppers in it. Even without the serrano peppers, the guacamole was really good, fresh and flavorful. For the entree, I ordered a Burrito Bowl with chicken as the protein. My mom ordered the TJ Tacos entree. Both of those food items were great too, and my mom said it was too much, but it was good.
Overall, these latest visits here were great. The food and service were on point and didn't have any issues. One thing to note is that if you use a credit card, there is a 3% processing fee. This fee does not apply when paying by cash or debit card. With great food and great service, this place is worth checking out if you're in the Red Mill area in Virginia Beach and looking for a Mexican place.
