This is not Marina's pizza. Barely any cheese, sauce has no seasonings, crust however remains the same. I haven't been here in a while. I don't really live close enough to enjoy it anymore. But I made a detour out of my way to come here. Never again. The girl at the counter assured me that previous owners showed them the recipes. If they did, they didn't follow them at all. 2nd review. The other night I accidentally placed an order for the BLT pizza instead of the Pepperoni, Bacon and Onion. I am SOOO happy that I did. This was the best BLT Pizza I've had anywhere! It looked like a salad in the box and tasted like a warm cheesy bread underneath. The toppings were nice sized pieces as opposed to little bits. The lettuce was crisp. Tomato fresh. Bacon ample pieces and plenty of melted cheese. There was even a tiny amount of onion which might have been a mistake but had an added dept of flavor. The bottom crust was nice and brown. If you were to ask me how I feel about Marina's Pizza? I'd say it's good. If you asked me on a deeper level? I'd say that this is one of my favorite places of all time. I used to go here when I was a kid. I've never known a time in my life where I didn't know their food. Since getting new owners my love for it has come back full force. The reason why is because they added dairy free cheese to the menu and when my body decided to build a severe intolerance against dairy I thought it was game over, but no. They fully clean everything they use for my dairy free pizza. They are the absolute best and the place is being taken care of so well. I can't believe that in 35+ years living in Westland that I've just now tried pizza from this place. I do not know what it is, but the small, local, hole-in-the-wall type pizza joints are my favorite. Maybe because growing up all my family would ever order was Pizza Hut, Little Caesar's, etc., all the big name places. But places like this really know how to keep the soul in a pizza. Yes, pizza has a soul. I eat pizza ALOT. Mainly because my wife lives off of it. But regardless, I've become quite the connoisseur. I need balance in my pizza. Everything in perfect proportions. Well I've noticed more and more recently that these big name pizza places have been cutting corners to save a buck. One of their common tricks these days is to make the bottom dough of the pizza so paper thin that you could hold it up in the air and see light thru it. This is garbage. Throws the whole pizza off. Now you're just eating mouthfuls of cheese. Places like this don't do that. They keep it real. I don't know if it's pride, or just wanting to do good by the customer, but they deliver a product that only those that care are capable of making. Ok, rant over. Still here? Pizza was awesome. So were the breadsticks and cheesebread. The dough was nice and chewy, the cheese was top notch mozzarellas the kind that stretches a foot past your face. Sauce was great. We have been long time Marina's lovers and we ordered it last night. on th special it was very soggy and the meat lovers was very greasy. it wasnt like this before since it changed hands. hopefully they can adjust the special pizza recipe back to not be so soggy next time. otherwise the topping quality is great but i think they got rid of the honey french salad dressing which is a bummer. I will never repeat never order anything again from them! The last time I bought a pizza sub from them I bit into the sub about the third bite In damn near broke a tooth and when I went to spit out what I thought was part of my tooth it looked like it had a piece of a pill or a sweetheart broken half inside the pizza sub when I called back to ask if they can reimburse for the food they told me absolutely not they would never reimburse me nor credit me the food! I don't even who where to start. A few of my friends have said that Marina's has the best pizza around. They swore it would be my last pizza place I'd go... I have read reviews at other sites, and have wondered why it was never reviewed on Yelp! I still don't know the answer, but now they do have a review. After all the build up, I finally decided to try it... One of the main reasons was to bust Marina's Yelp Cherry. Lol I really thought it would be the best pizza I had... I wanted it to be, so bad. I literally called all my other pizza places and told them to erase my number, I was all in for Marina's. I had pocket aces, so I was very sure on my choice! I placed my order for 2 pizzas and breadsticks, 20 minutes she replied. I was geeked, got up there, took some pics, I was ready! Got the pizza, hot bread and I was in heaven... Got home, opened the boxes up and took more pics... as you can see from all of them i posted, I was geeked.... :) Then I woke out of my daydream.. The breadsticks were basically a piece of dough the was not fully cooked, but tasted ok at best. Oh well, they're known for their pizza so I didn't care.... i went to get a piece out of the box and it was so wet and doughy that it saturated into the cardboard they put in the box. Not just my pizza, but also the other one. The sauce had good favor, everytging else seemed fresh, but the pizza wasn't fully cooked!!! :( Needless to say, that wrecked my night... I didn't call, although i thought about it and the $23 I spent. Then I thought maybe they had a new person working or maybe their oven was acting up, etc. Maybe I needed to order it well done?!?!?
