Even though the majority of meat I purchase is at a grocery store (Raley's, Nugget, Safeway, etc.) or a warehouse-type store (Costco, WinCo, etc.), you just can't beat the quality of a family-owned butcher shop. This takes me to the one and only "Kings Meats" that has only been in operation since 2020 but in that amount of time, they've gained hundreds of new customers. Located in the El Dorado community of Diamond Springs, they are relatively close to Highway 49 and roughly 10 minutes south of Placerville and Interstate 50. I came here during the afternoon of Friday 5/16/25 at around 2:45pm. And as expected, the parking lot here was quite full with vehicles stocking up on some amazing meats. Keep in mind that if you do plan on coming here (especially from out of town), they are closed on Monday/Tuesday but open from 10am-6pm Wednesday-Saturday and 10am-5pm on Sunday. Once entering the building, I was absolutely amazed and quite impressed with how clean and tidy this place was. There was at least 4 employees working behind the counter and they all took their time in making sure every customer was helped. As for the meats, this place has everything you're looking for; ground beef, ground chuck, skirt steak, sirloin steak, New York steak, ribeye, spare ribs, pork belly, pork tenderloin, bacon, sausage, hot links, and so much more than I didn't even mention. During my visit, I stocked up and spent WAY more than I had anticipated; at least $200 worth of food. I mainly bought steak, ground beef, bacon, and some pork. Jump forward 3 weeks later (after a Memorial Day BBQ & other dinners) and the quality of their food is absolutely top-notch. It was so good to a point where it is better than a premium steakhouse or high-end burger joint. And for those pescatarians, they even have a decent seafood selection here (crab, salmon, oysters, etc.). Truth be told, I used to do my meat shopping at V. Miller (in Sacramento) until they closed in March 2025 as well as a few other butcher shops in the area. After a fellow Yelper told me about Kings Meats, I took his advice and glad I did. The quality (and even very reasonable prices) of the cuts of meat are some of the best I've had in years. Whether you grill, pan fry, or roast your meat, I am a firm believer that this place will meet your expectations. With that said and done, I am giving "Kings Meats" a picture perfect five-star rating.

He answered all in the questions without any Negative feedback whatsoever, no pushy, no sales talk or anything like that, he was open. He was honest, his pricing was fair. He gave me the complete breakdown of how much of whole cow compared to a 1/2 cow. Compared to the processing fee, and there were several ranchers that were a lot closer to me Because i'm right here in sacramento and they are a two and a half hour drive away. But can't beat his prices can't beat his customer service and right now I honestly could say i've bought two cows from this company yes, I have a big family. But I also just like beef, and I like steak and I'm on the carnivore diet. So I like eating meat but I didn't go with the company, Based on just the reviews, honestly, I went to the company. Based on my interactions with Travis and like I said he was honest he was fair. He answered all my questions without hesitation. And he made things easy. If I had any concerns, he put em to rest even all the way up to the day of harvest. Now I'll talk a little bit about the meat. The meat is extremely good. It's like I want to say fresh. But heck, it's fresh, it's fresh from the cow fresh and processor processed it perfectly. For me and it's like we made our first couple roasts and it's like I will honestly say it's better than any beef that I've ever bought from the store. Definitely. We'll be buying from them again. Maybe not in the next year or so since i did get two cows. I got more meat that allows me a year or so, but I'm pretty sure within the next year and a half. I will probably be looking again because I know my kids are gonna be taking some of the meat home with them But I definitely would recommend Travis and his family to all my family and friends and in fact, I already have, and I think 3 or 4 of them actually already bought their own whole cows. So definitely if you're looking to buy a whole cow. And you wanna save money on your beef. Definitely. Look up. TX Bar Grassfed Cattle Company and send them a message they respond fast not days or weeks. Also I almost forgot. You can also be on-site on your harvest day. If you wish to take certain sections of the cow that the butcher processor won't bring back to the shop. Because of certain reasons. If you want those items, you just need to let Travis know. And he'll let you know around the time that your cow would be harvested on that day. And you can be there to collect those items on-site. So you can also watch the process.I'm assuming too, me myself and I didn't do it.But you know, that's long drive.So wasn't like really looking to do a two and a half hour.One way drived in two and a half hour back. Some people love it and others do not care for the taste. There is a coop in Grass Valley that sells it is smaller amounts and you should try it before you get yourself a quarter, half, or full steer. People who run the ranch are great. Beef is available only during a short time each year, around the spring. The beef is slaughtered at the U. of Reno and cut and packed there and returned to the ranch in Nev. County for sale.
