We worked with Marigold Design House for our multi-day wedding in Italy, and it was the experience of a lifetime. From the very beginning, Aeisha and her planning team guided us through every decision -- from selecting the perfect villa to coordinating airport pickups for all of our guests. They made what could have been a complicated destination wedding feel easy and stress-free. The design was stunning -- every floral choice, table setting, and lounge vignette felt thoughtful and elegant, perfectly reflecting the charm of our villa. Even details like the plated dinner selections were handled with care, ensuring that every course was as memorable as the setting. Across all three days -- the welcome dinner, wedding day, and farewell brunch -- the transitions were seamless. We fired MDH five weeks before our wedding. That's how bad it got for us. The stress and dysfunction we experienced working with MDH was so overwhelming that going it alone felt safer than staying with them. MDH promised a high-touch, luxury planning experience. For us, it turned out to be the most chaotic and unprofessional service we've ever encountered. Truly, working with MDH felt like our BIGGEST NIGHTMARE. From day one, MDH sold us on structure and communication--but we ended up being the ones chasing updates, initiating calls, and even rebuilding their internal tools just to understand what was going on. The planning sheet they gave us was a recycled template slapped together last-minute--we literally watched them edit it live. It was useless to us until we fixed it ourselves. Their so-called "vendor sourcing" did not work for us at all - we had to constantly follow up for options and to get the latest updates. We were told vendors weren't responsive, but when we contacted them directly, we got replies within 24 hours. Because of MDH's inattentiveness to calendaring or failure to follow up, we missed major deadlines (like our wedding stationery design, which cost us rush fees), and lost out on accommodation properties we wanted. In our experience, multiple deliverables were constantly promised and never delivered -- welcome tote options, website feedback, decor quotes, timelines, vendor ideas, gifting concepts, were all supposedly "in progress" but never shared. MDH kept telling us other clients were happy and "trusted the process", making us question whether we were expecting too much. When we asked to be connected with those other clients to level set our own expectations and build some confidence in their delivery? Silence. And when we voiced our concerns? We felt gaslit. We were told we were "too involved" and "pulling work away" from the team--when in reality, we felt we were stepping in to do their job. We were trying to protect our own wedding. We were following up (MULTIPLE TIMES) on timelines that MDH shared and then consistently missed. They even had the audacity to tell us that following up on OUR OWN wedding progress was disrupting their workflow (we have never seen this workflow before). In our view, the lead planner, Aeisha, is the most unprofessional service provider we have ever dealt with. We feel like she dissembled constantly, twisted facts, and would say anything to deflect blame. One of the most absurd examples: she claimed the decor for our wedding would cost $99,000! When we asked for a detailed breakdown, we did not receive anything concrete that made sense to us or helped us understand where the money would be spent. No renderings or visualization tools for what we were getting for the $99K, no vendor invoices, no evidence of any negotiations being done for us. We asked Aeisha to show us ANYTHING, any email to vendors, any kind of work-in-progress quotes, to help us build trust in her delivery but our request was denied. She also claimed that because our choice of wedding venue was expensive, we reduced her budget for decor. A discussion like that never happened. The decor budget always remained the same. In fact, we chipped in more to add to our overall budget for the venue because we liked it. But five weeks before our wedding, we had no idea of what we would ultimately be spending on our decor. We felt like Aeisha waited till the very end to slap us with an unreasonable amount and pressure for us to pay up. We didn't pay them any decor budget, parted ways, and asked for our initial retainer back. They refused to give us our money back and also refused to return an overpayment we had made in good faith. They claim it was used to procure decor, but we did not approve of any purchases. We feel this runs against their assertion that the client's consent is at the core of their process. For us, firing MDH was the best decision we made during our wedding planning. After we brought in a new planner, we had an entirely different experience that made us realize what had been missing. For instance: Bali was shutting down the week before our wedding due to Eid and Nyepi Day--which meant no banking and major logistical disruptions. MDH never advised us of this crucial fact given its impact on wedding planning. Either they didn't know or they didn't care. Worse still, we learned that non-Bali vendors needed artist visas--a legal requirement that MDH never mentioned to us. We had to scramble and pay thousands of dollars in last-minute fees to fix this mess. To us, this isn't just about poor service. This is about feeling lied to, ignored, gaslit and constantly stressed about one of the most important events of our life, despite spending thousands of dollars on a planner. My wife and I hired Marigold Design House for our wedding in September of 2021. The immediate red flags were that they claimed to have done hundreds of weddings; however, we could only find one review on Google. That one review was also negative and we sadly chose to ignore the only advice we had seen.... Unfortunately, we came to find out that it was extremely accurate. Initially, we were promised world class service and access to their "vast inventory." We soon came to find out that use of the inventory was completely at their discretion. They charged $8,000 (yes... $8,000 dollars...) and barely used any inventory. Instead, what we received was a complete lack of pricing transparency. It seemed as if they are charging a premium upon what they are paying to rent (sort of as a "middle-man" charge). When we went looking for items on our own, they were much cheaper. The MDH team always had an excuse. They were hard to contact and the attitude was extremely unprofessional. My wife were constantly walking on eggshells around Aeisha. We ended up doing almost all of the vendor discussions and contracts by ourselves. The one contract she reviewed and approved... was for the wrong year!!!! Instead of apologizing, she stated that, "it was only off by a single year..." Fortunately, my wife caught that and the hair/makeup was booked on our actual wedding date. We had an awesome time working with all of our vendors... except our wedding planner. She caused so much undue stress before the wedding. The final straw was when she said they would need over $100,000 for just the decor on one of the days. We had clearly stated in a survey at the very beginning our budget, and they completely disregarded what we had discussed. They made us feel bad about our budget. Mind you, that we spent a quarter million dollars for the wedding ceremonies and receptions. We fired MDG. The lack of communication, unprofessionalism, lack of pricing transparency cumulated into distrust for the Day of Wedding Coordination services. They also stated that they could not "work with our low budget and were accustom to working with clients who could spend more money." Judging from the other reviews, this was the best decision we made. We found another wedding planner who was AWESOME!!! She was kind, communicative, and planned a much better wedding for a fraction of the cost. They also shared a lot of the same vendors (the Wedding industry is a small world) and the vendors would also complain! It was interesting to see that the frustration is on both sides. Instead of listening to feedback from their clients and vendors about better improving their business.... MDG kindly responded by 1) not refunding us any of the money that we had paid 2) sending lawyers to put a "gag" order on us so that we couldn't write a review. It now makes sense why there are so few... They push legal action. My wife and I feel as if we got scammed and I really want to help anyone out there looking to plan a wedding. It is a busy time and there are a lot of unknowns to learn about the wedding industry. If I could give you any advice... it would to avoid MDH at all costs. My wife and I hired Alveena for an intimate wedding. We really tried to trust and work with her but we felt left in the dark and stressed out with the communication (or lack thereof); from her completely missing multiple scheduled calls to never sending the floor plans she promised over and over again. She was hard to reach and consistently "too busy" with other events. We let her know how we felt and she was instantly defensive, basically gaslighting us for not trusting her and that she was doing us a favor because our event is small compared to her other large/grand events. If she was truly so busy she shouldn't have taken us on as clients but she did, so we deserve the same attention/professionalism as any other events. My (now) husband and I had the very unfortunate experience of working with Marigold Design House (MDH) for their "full" wedding planning, design, and coordination services. DISCLAIMER: We had to FIRE this company three months before our wedding due to their complete lack of professionalism and infliction of emotional distress upon us and our families. MDH is extremely unorganized, unprofessional, and worst of all, they are prideful and rude. We hired this team thinking that they would make our lives less stressful leading up to our wedding, but instead, they made our wedding planning experience a nightmare. 1. PLANNING: The MDH team did not provide any timelines, vendor pricing quote comparisons, and they did not join in on ANY vendor interviews/calls. Their method of wedding planning is sending "mass" copy/pasted emails to potential vendors, many of which were incorrectly addressed (i.e. an email was sent to a DJ requesting hair and makeup services). My husband and I had to spend hours on vendor calls by ourselves and then would have to spend ADDITIONAL time repeating this information to MDH afterwards. From there, we would be sent multiple incorrect vendor contracts (i.e. wrong services listed, wrong timings, wrong DATES, etc.) Due to their repeated lack of attention to detail, we eventually had to take the initiative to rectify their errors on our own by negotiating directly with vendors to which MDH responded with "you are not letting us do our job" (???) 2. DESIGN & DECOR: We tried to move past all of the errors made during the planning phase because we believed (and hoped) that they would do a great job with the design and decor. Sadly, this too was a poor experience. The MDH team knew our budget from the very beginning, but they attempted to quote us a budget that was TRIPLE what we told them we would be willing to pay. Mind you, we spent a very generous amount on our wedding events and we were still made to feel like it was not within their "design aesthetic". They over-promised so many things from their "inventory" that we paid a premium for and would constantly go back on their word on what they were able to provide. There was no sense of transparency with their design and decor budgets and after finding a new planner who shared all of this information with us, we now know that prices were inflated and they clearly were not pursuing any vendor negotiations. 3. COORDINATION: We fortunately terminated our contract prior to this point, but from the only other review written online, it seems like this is also a disaster. 4. PROFESSIONALISM: MDH was not interested in any constructive feedback or problem-solving strategies. They spent more time writing paragraphs about how they were "luxury planners" rather than actually doing creative work. Despite our many attempts at working with their team amicably, they continued to show us unnecessary attitude to the point where we had to fire them. This was the best decision we could have made for ourselves. We have spoken to many other vendors and couples in the area who have shared a similar experience with this company, which is very unfortunate for all parties involved. We could write so much more, but our best advice to anyone looking to hire this team is DON'T. Trust the reviews you read on here because we made the mistake of ignoring the negative one we had come across. This company appears to have also found a way to hide their google reviews otherwise you would see this (and probably many other negative reviews) written there as well. There are so many amazing wedding and event planners out there who won't up-sell you or make you feel guilty about having a budget. It was April and my wedding was to take place in July! Marigold was the only company in WA that I trusted to be able to handle the expectations I had for a glamorous Nigerian wedding based solely on their Instagram page. LUCKILY they agreed to help me on such short notice and empathized with the fact that my previous decorator scammed us out of our money. They were extremely professional and even used their connects to help us find a new venue after our set one double booked the venue three weeks before the wedding. In the end we were extremely happy with the overall results which outweighed some of the things we didn't get. We had to realize that 4 months is insane amount of time to be able to expect everything we asked for and the new venue eliminated the need for things that we discussed we wanted. Truthfully towards the end, I did feel like we were unable to communicate any frustrations without backlash.
