I'm trying to live a healthier lifestyle and the first step I'm hearing from the fitness community…read moreinvolved detoxing the system. While looking for a colonic black owned business, I stumbled upon Inspired Thru Nature. As I began browsing their website, I noticed one service I always wanted to try, the ionic foot detox (scheduled a colonic for another time). An ionic foot detox is said to work by pulling the toxins out of your body through your feet. I texted the number on the website and sent an email requesting an appointment for two and luckily, the business had a dual machine and was able to do a couple's detox. Response was quick and a few hours after my initial contact. The owner is very accommodating and helps to work around your schedule. As you walk in, you're asked to complete paper work, a quick two/three page doc. We were then escorted to the back room, sat on a comfy sofa and advised of the purpose of each device we were being connected to.... a wrist wrap, foot basin w/ sea salt, and warm waist wrap (for comfort). She started the machine and checked on us a few times throughout the process allowing us to relax and enjoy the soft music and aromatherapy smells in the air. During and after the treatment she explained what toxins was being release based on a color chart. Once done, our foots were removed from the tub and placed in a regular soaking basin to clean off followed by the owner drying our feet off and providing a quick oil rub massage. I highly recommend these and the many other ways to detox the body (cleanses/colonics). Our systems are overloaded with high levels of toxicity from the harmful chemicals in our hygiene products, cleaning products, foods we eat, and natural airborne toxins. The liver/kidneys works overtime to filter them out so detox methods are a great way to help out.

I moved to MD last November and was happy to see there was a colonic wellness center in my area…read more(literally about 8 minutes away). I was even more excited after I noticed the 5-star reviews and it was Black-owned. During my first visit, the noticed how clean the area was - which is a PLUS! Depending on what kind of person you are, Pam is not very welcoming nor does she say a lot. So if you're a person that requires that level of attention, then I'd pass on this place. The prices are a little high from what I'm used to ($85 per visit), but I was curious to inquire about any special discount packages Pam was offering. The rule is, you come three times, but on your 3rd visit, it goes from $85 to $65. What wasn't communicated to me was that you have to come within a week of each other. I spaced mine out over 2 months and was quite surprised that during my third visit, I had to pay $85. After she explained that they had to be done within a week of each service, I let it go --- and paid the $85 for the third visit although, she never communicated that to me in the beginning. I was thinking she'd meet me in the middle and have me pay $75, but nope. And I let that go... Well... I started a "new series" with her and this is when it began to get weird. I would text her and she would be late responding or would hit me up the day before an appointment that I never scheduled. Or, she wouldn't remember when you came/didn't come (she keeps a really bad time sheet in a manila envelope in a large file cabinet). There was even one time I booked with her and the next day, her assistant never showed up which was a total inconvenience to me. She kept saying she would make up for it etc etc. and when she finally did... she tried to charge me $85?!?! I went through my phone and gave her each time I came etc. She was missing a visit (of course) which brought my total from $85 to $65 -- then I looked at her like "Ummmm, didn't you say you were going to give me a discount for the no-show incident." She gave me a discount --- it was $10 off. So, I received $10 off of a service when you didn't show up for a confirmed appointment that I had to move my schedule around for? Wow! Whenever I patronize businesses, I will give you an opportunity to make it right before I make the decision to not come back. As a business owner, you have to truly ask yourself "am I doing the right thing by the customer?" or "Is there something else I should be doing to make my customer's experience better" or "If I was in their shoes, would I come back?" Maybe she was like that previously hence the 5-star reviews, but I don't think it holds in 2019. I haven't been back nor will I.

There is so much stuff (both antique items and then just random stuff) that *IF* the owners had hidden cameras you'd never know or be able to spot them (literally in my opinion the house is 1 step away fron being classified as hoarding). Driving to the Center is beyond creepy. It's literally in the Woods in the middle of no where so check your gas light. It's also the last house before a dead end / road closure so seriously check your gas light. I went one day and the older white male (maybe 70s) was walking around without a shirt on checking what appeared to be fire alarms not really sure. I thought it was odd but of course I didn't say anything. Lastly To wash your hands after the procedure instead of having a soap dispenser in the procedure room there was one bar soap which I could only imagine the germs on it. I HAD TO WASH MY HANDS so That actually made me feel less clean than when I got off of the table. I even stopped at a gas station 5 miles up the road to re-wash my hands. That's just not sanitary!!

I called and was able to scheduled something within the hour. The individuals at this place were wonderful, as I waited I drank Green tea and started to read the first chapter of Gone With The Wind. Since this was my first time receiving colon hydro therapy, they meticulously explained the process. I had a great session and I am excited to return.

The conditioner was barely run through my hair for 30seconds before being rinsed out, i was not detangled while wet or conditioned. My hair was thoroughly towel dryed, which was not a good thing for how my hair was handled. Not only was i still tangled from the wash but during the towel drying, my hair was rubbed back and forth rather than squeezing the excess water which we know is bad for naturals. A cape was never put on me so during the process of blow drying and trimming hair was all over me. Lastly the amount of oil put in my hair was so excessive that oil was dripping down my neck for the next 1 hour and stained my shirt. My stylist spoke to me when spoken too but did not make any effort to communicate with me or explain anything about my hair or products used. For $75 and a half hour worth of work i was not satisfied at all and cannot recommend.

Even after adjusting the appointment time, I still ended up waiting over an hour for my consultation. A consultation that I paid for, by the way (consultations are not free). When I arrived the owner was finishing up with a client, and she acknowledged me. I thought, ok she'll see me when she's done with her... Nope. After that client left, she took her next client without saying a word to me. Wait, what??? It's awful to have a reputation of not respecting client's/potential client's time. I shudder to think of how long my salon visits would be if I actually became a client. It was only after I voiced my frustration to the receptionist, within earshot of the owner, that I was seen. A hard pass.

I had to do a lengthy examination of blood work to determine a treatment plan for overall fitness and I was expecting Dr. Knights to go over the improvements in my internal readings ~ to off-board; because I really did take the health improvements seriously. The visits in between were helpful. I entered myself as a patient for mental clarity. Sauna work, colon care, some IV stuff - but it was already backed by a personal interest and some information I already have in the natural medicines. I really don't like how some of the staff did not know how to professional enter medical needles into the skin - one of the girls really hurt me by improperly sticking me and I wish I had stopped all treatments that day. I think they can improve a tremendous amount and I am still offended that they don't respond to any of the unprofessionalism. I don't feel safe in their care so no ~ I would not recommend to anyone or feel safe recommending to anyone.
