Seafood Chilli Relleno & Seafood Salad
    Sun S.

This was my first stop at Maria's and maybe my last unfortunately. Let's start off with the Seafood Chili Relleno. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. It was a type of bland that had me sitting there asking myself "why am I bothering?" The Seafood Salad was one of the weirdest things I had seen yet, but honestly wasn't bad. I'd say give it a try. The queso was mediocre. Chips and salsa though, were fresh and I'd say worth it. The drink lines were dirty somewhere and therefore left a fowl aftertaste when it came to their drinks. Our server did her best and was a sweet lady. No complaints about the service. Just the food.

The menu is HUGE; like a book!

Great Tex-Mex in a neat building! My Carne Asada was really good, and it came with a Cheese Enchilada. My wife loved her Chicken Tacos al Carbon! Good Sweet Tea, and soft drinks are available. Plus; it is BYOB if you are thirsty for s harder beverage! All of the exposed wood in the super high ceilings make for some interesting views while you wait on your food. AND; the staff feels like family - makes for a very relaxed dining atmosphere! We loved it!

Not sure how a Mexican Restaurant can mess up salsa but it tasted like pure chili powder or Cumin overload. I had fajitas and the beans were terrible (texture was more like Alpo, but Alpo probably would have been better). No one at our table enjoyed their meal and we left very disappointed. The only thing good was the service... Daughter had a little plastic in her burrito .... It had more flavor than the meat. We tried the queso after we saw good reviews, it was water cheese and had some jalapeño thrown in. I'd probably suggest driving to Texarkana for food or the Mexico border. Whatever you do, don't waste your hard earned money on something that will leave you sad, broken, and in need of new plumbing.

I love their street tacos carne asada, it's like eating from a taco truck in Guadalajara, Mexico. You can pair your tacos with their Mexican soft drinks literally in a glass bottle. You can have horchata or hibiscus tea. The breads? Freshly baked bread which is just .99 cents each. What more can you ask for? They have tres leches slices , flans.... All the postres you see in a carneceria! Their produce are always fresh , the meats I'm not a fan of but all the grocery items that you need and want are available. They even have some merchandise that you can only find there like authentic tortillas warmers, clay pots and plates. Ooohhhh, not to mention their Salvadoriqn Chorizos. I love that! Not to mention their freshly made tortillas which you can purchase at any given time! I also have tried their tamales , they are good and seasoned well. I normally make tamales twice a year but if I crave for some, I just go there to satisfy my cravings. The staff are all nice and accommodating, the whole store is clean and the prices of what they sell are affordable and comparable to other places. We definitely love this place! Nothing beats authentic Mexican grocery like La Victoria's

This is a very authentic Mexican restaurant. They do not make their own tortilla chips, however, which is just as well because normally I overeat those and have no room for my entree! My husband and I both ordered the beef burrito and I was pleased with the freshness of the burrito ingredients and noted that it was not loaded with a bunch of shredded cheese. We ordered ice tea and it was fresh brewed and refreshing. Our waitress was very sweet and helpful. We would definitely return and try some more of their menu offerings. I was pleased to see on their menu too, that they served menudo on Saturdays as well as tamales. I would definitely return for that and give it a try.

Brenda L was the server who took my order. Per their suggestion I ordered the birria tacos which came with rice, beans, toppings and then a side of chips and salsa. The tacos were okay. I think coming from Texas I'm just used to food being more seasoned, but the meat was tender and the portions were generous. Now usually at a taco joint either the green or red salsa will be on the milder, less spicy side but here ?? If you like heat then you're in for a treat because oh my lord LOL. The biggest downside of the visit were the restrooms. The smell in the men's room was atrocious. It literally almost made me vomit. I was told that the women's restroom was the same.
