Menu for Maria's Tacos taken 3/31/2033

Always wanted to try this place whenever I'd go to Dominoes. A co-worker recommended. Decided to try I was a bit shocked when looking at the prices on the menu, but since I was already inside and drove here figured I'd try it. Ordered the nachos with meat (steak) and a steak torta with everything. The steak was well seasoned, no grizzly fatty pieces like some other restaurants like to use and very tender. My son enjoyed his torta said the same it was well seasoned. The young lady at the counter was very nice and restaurant was very clean and would go back just for the nachos they were delicious.

I ordered the steak nachos. They give you a pretty good amount of meat, but unfortunately it had absolutely no flavor at all. It did not even taste like it was seasoned. The nachos itself also did not have any flavor. Chips were very bland, I could barely taste the cheese. I was very disappointed. My fiancé ordered a steak burrito. I thought his burrito was pretty good, this steak seemed to be seasoned a little bit better. However, still nothing exciting. I don't see us going back. Horchata tasted like it was from a mix you get from jewel.

Well there's no spit in it buuuut this is not a repeat place for me . The tacos look appetizing but don't let it fool you. Even though the customer service, cleanliness, and food temperature were adequate I would like the tacos to have flavor. Trying the al pastor, generally a very flavorful and marinated taco meat, tasted like chewing ingredients but don't ask me what it tasted like....idk. Even as hungry as I was, I had to make an effort to finish them. The horchata is chalky and not as sweet as the typical horchata. The prices for the quality do not match at all.

Barbacoa, tripitas, al pastor! Very good Barbacoa!

From the dark wood features to old school menu items, the environment strongly suggests an unassuming hideaway for the wealthy. Whether you want a family meal or a bustling environment all depends on if you sit at the bar or dining room. I have had plenty of red table cloth meals here in the dining room and service is always impeccable and professional. If you want a more casual boisterous vibe, opt for the open seating at the bar. There you'll find Jimmy and his barback friends - it is guaranteed they will take superb care of you and your company. I really can't say enough great things about the food here. You will not be disappointed in anything you order. Seems a bit unbelievable, but the seafood here is some of the best in the country - I've traveled coast to coast and it still didn't hit as hard as the crisp shrimp cocktail from Gibbons. The fillet bites made you want to order more. The chicken was so tender and juicy. Seasoning on all the dishes were 5 star. I had a melt in your mouth fillet that was as big as a baseball and cut like butter. I shared the spinach gratin because it was off the charts. Fortunately, it was a Tuesday and I had.reviewed the website to view the menu prior to selecting this restaurant. I noted that there was a Tuesday surf & turf special (8oz filet & 8 oz lobster tail for $56. It wasn't on either the regular menu or the specials list but it was offered. We ordered the oysters Rockafelller which were delicious and 2 surf and turf specials. Both lobster tails were good but my filet was ordered rare but came out medium rare. Our excellent waiter Steve said he would replace it and a new steak came out in about 3 minutes! I was very impressed with the speed of the replacement which was perfect. Nice ambiance, reasonably priced wine list. Excellent dessert list (although we were too full for dessert.). Our meals came with a house salad and large hot baked potato. Note that an 18% gratuity was added as well as a 3.5% credit card or debit card charge (annoying). But overall it was a great meal with great service.

Modern, classic elegance with an appealing subtle color palette. Simply beautiful! The service was outstanding. They were highly attentive and responded to all of our needs quickly and happily in a very friendly, courteous way, Daisy and her team of bus support were unbelievably attentive. If you go on a day that she is there, ask to be seated in her section. Good service with good food has a tendency to take your experience to atmospheric levels! The bread baskets were filled with rustic Italian bread that was so delicious I thought I was at a trattoria in the rolling hills of Tuscany. Instead of butter, the upscale olive oil dip was very authentic. The menu offers a wide variety of choices for everyone that appeals to carnivores and vegetarians alike. Pastas, beef, pork, lamb and seafood. I asked to substitute one starch for another and the chef made it happen! The food was incredibly fresh. My dining companions has the Maple glazed salmon. The other had the lamb chops. Both raved about the freshness of their meals as well as the perfection to which their dishes were cooked! I had the scallops and substituted the starch with Truffle Fries. The theatrics associated with the presentation of my scallops was breathtaking. It was au flambé! They were so fresh and slightly crusted, i'd never tasted anything that delicious before. Even popular and legendary EAST COAST seafood restaurants could learn a lot about the preparation and presentation of scallops. My meal appropriately mixed textures, tangy tartness and sweetness in the veggie dish consisting of chopped zucchini sweet potatoes and spinach. The way that our meals were plated and presented was sheer "ART," worthy of a museum display. It's a bit pricey, but worth every penny! If I were to recommend an enhancement, I'd recommend some soft background music/jazz or a singer and pianist. It's that type of place. We were celebrating a friend's birthday. The presentation was spectacular! I can't wait to dine al fresco when the weather permits!

I also understand that servers sometimes make assumptions about guests. However, every customer deserves the same level of attention and service, regardless of what a server thinks the tip may be. According to the receipt provided by the manager, I believe our server's name was Jaden. Unfortunately, she never introduced herself and only checked on our table once throughout the meal. Most of the service we received actually came from the manager on duty. I found myself repeatedly getting up to ask for things until I finally asked Jaden, if she was our server. I hoped that would prompt a little more attention to our table, but it didn't. Instead, she remained focused on another table that had arrived before us and was still there after we left. I watched her check on them four or five times while our table was largely ignored. Whether intentionally or not, it certainly felt as though she had decided our table wasn't worth her time. If that was her assumption, then in this particular case she was correct about one thing: my husband and I will not tip for bad service. I have no problem rewarding excellent service, but I also believe tips should reflect the quality of the experience provided. Rather than leaving money for poor service, I chose to give the cash I had to the busboys, who were attentive and helpful throughout the evening. The reason I'm sharing this review is because I don't want one bad experience to overshadow what has otherwise been a good restaurant. I've dined here several times before, live nearby, and have always enjoyed my visits. That's why this experience stood out so much. I'm willing to give the restaurant another chance because I know the level of service they're capable of providing. My hope is that when I return, every guest will receive the same level of attention and hospitality, regardless of assumptions about who they are or what they may tip. Great service should be consistent, and that's what keeps customers coming back. One final thought: tipping culture only works when both sides do their part. GUESTS should recognize and reward good service, and SERVERS should provide quality service to every table. When assumptions are made on either side, EVERYONE loses.
