Ordered take out the other day and it was FANTASTIC. We ordered off the catering menu and had the Tampiqueña al Mar which is Skirt Steak topped with Shrimp, Sea Scallops & Calamari in Chipotle Pepper Sauce. We also had the avocado salad. Both dishes were delicious. Of course we needed drinks to go so we had the Margaritas and the Marias special sangria. Been going to Maria's for years and it never disappoints. We hadn't eaten in person since Covid but saw the outdoor seating are and it looks beautiful. Hope to make it there soon, read more

Ordered 2 combo plates. And beers. And wife got churro sundae for dessert. The not so good.... Burritos come with sauce (wet) which was just the enchilada sauce so if you also ordered an enchilada you basically got 2, enchiladas come completely overwhelmed by cheese (not the best cheese), beans are black (good) and too salty (not good), rice is bland and undercooked, taco tortillas are from a bag and a little stale, and the salsa is weak and runny and warm which is super weird. The good... Tortilla chips are salty and warm goodness, chicken was tasty and seasoned, guacamole taco was awesome and fresh and light, enchilada sauce was good, the combination section was a good deal and you can customize any 3 items for $15.95. And Mexican beer. Yummy. Dessert menu looked tasty but my dessert is an extra bowl of chips! Duh. And they have a spicier salsa available if you ask. Service was okay, and there was no wait on a Monday night. Probably good for larger parties as they have the space and Margheritas. They have a bar and pitchers of sangria too. Food is fantastic! Amazing mexican food and cute little restaurant however it's not formal or very big. No outdoor seating as of yet. I can't wait until they expand or have larger locations. Always hits the spot and the portions are huge and always so fresh! I always get a combination plate or tamales and sopa Del Mar. All entrees come with a hefty side of rice and beans! We love even eating the leftovers. Very delicious and authentic food! Drinks are great too. A little on the pricier side but worth it. read more

Maria's is definitely my favorite restaurant I've been to, to date. The food is absolutely delicious every time I go, and trust me I'm there a lot. There have been months when my boyfriend and I have gone once a weekend; we just cannot get enough of the amazing food. The service is also great, and the wait staff is extremely attentive always checking in and always pouring us another glass of sangria (when we get a pitcher- which I recommend) as needed. Yes, I will admit the wait time is always long. Always. Even when we have gone on random weeknights, we've waited. However, there have been numerous occasions when the wait has been much less than projected which is awesome. I would absolutely recommend waiting it out, no matter the amount of time projected. Long wait times are just a sign of great food and a great restaurant, so its worth it. Plus theres a nice little bar to sit at and sip some drinks while you wait. Also, although they don't take reservations for all parties, if you're a party of 6 or more you can make a reservation, so be sure to call ahead! Now for the food. My usual is the chicken taco salad, it's my favorite and I've gotten it 99% of the time I've been. However, the one time I didn't get it, I had nothing bad to say about the change-up. I ordered a combo with a chicken taco, a bean burrito, and a chicken enchilada and it was great. My boyfriend switches it up every time we go, but his absolute favorite was the rib-eye special! So if you hear that on the specials for the night, go for it you won't regret it! If you're in the mood for an appetizer I highly recommend the chicken quesadillas, or any of the quesadillas, or the chicken nachos. They're dangerously addicting and you'll be happy you did it. We've also had the pulled pork appetizer special and that was great too! Lastly, the drinks. The drinks here are perfect. You get every penny's worth for whatever you order, which is how it should be. If you're drinking sangria I recommend the Maria's Special Sangria for an extra kick (unless you're driving-be smart people!). Also I'm a huge fan of the margaritas- not too sour and just the right amount of tequila. If you haven't tried this place out yet, you HAVE to. Clearly I'm a big fan, but when you're a picky eater like me, and you have so many compliments for a restaurant, you want the whole world's tastebuds to share you experience! read more

Absolutely delicious food. I had the mouth watering Mexican skirt steak it was juicy tender and flavorful. The Mexican street corn was incredible and the chicken quesadilla was great too. They start you off with great chips and homemade salsa that was so good. Had a tequila old fashioned that was perfect and an awesome pina colada. The service people were so nice and the atmosphere is beautiful, Couldn't be more satisfied with the experience as a whole percent recommend if you're in the mood for some authentic quality Mexican food. read more

We are making our way out to the NoFo for summer vacation and stopped for dinner on a Thursday night based on Yelp reviews. We were not disappointed. The enchiladas and fajitas were flavorful and plentiful. Plenty of chips and salsa accompanied our dinner. The ambiance inside was very nice though the Mexican singer/guitarist was a little loud for the room. We wanted to sit outside on the summer evening but it was a 30-45 minute wait. Unlikely we will be back since we are not from the area but highly recommend for good Mexican food and nice, polite and competent staff. Maria's has been and continues to be one of the best restaurants of any kind in the area. The service is always awesome, and the food consistently exceptional. Last night we had the stuffed plantains, Cuban quesadilla and chimicangas. Everything was unbelievably good, but the Cuban quesadilla was beyond belief. The pork inside was perfectly cooked with a hint of smoke, the ham top quality and even the pickles were a perfect match. I grew up in S. Florida, near so much authentic Cuban food, and this took my right back to when I was a kid and my grandpa would take me for a Cuban sandwich. The plantains were also super tasty. We had guac and chips as well, and the guac there is also exceptionally well prepared. You can tell the foodhere is prepared by people who care, and the same with the service. This is an excellent place to meet family, friends, business lunch or romantic dinner. Value for the price is also extremely high! read more

Ridiculous policy where only groups of 4 can make reservations ahead of time while parties under groups of four have to just wait at their beck and call to when they can be seated. Went there as a group of 3 and we were told we should have called ahead to find out the wait time, but since we were a party of under 4 we wouldn't have been able to make a reservation anyways. Told the wait will be about 45mins and still wouldn't put us on a list. Sometimes we dine in much larger groups than just 3, regardless will never go there now. Highly recommend you avoid this place since they don't care about the customer or their experience. They only care to maximize profits at your expense with such a policy. We were a group of three friends, but the two people that came up to the host stand (and also left) were likely trying to have a romantic date night. Restaurants are supposed to avail their tables in a fair and reasonable fashion. Since they cannot care about customers other than how much money they can try to earn based on seats filled per table, it's very likely this policy should begin driving that number to zero seats per table. Even if you're a group of four, why would you ever bother going to such a place where you're favored one night and then treated like "lesser" if you came back on a date night or with just 1-2 friends? NOT worth supporting a business implementing such a policy in my mind. Never had the food, but not worth it to me if it treats customers only like walking dollar signs. read more

Came here to celebrate my birthday with my family. The food is delicious. The atmosphere is nice .Great music selection and not loud and obnoxious.The service is top notch. I had the grilled chicken with mango sauce and it was awesome. The only thing I don't like about this place is the parking. Otherwise it is a great small and intimate restaurant. The food is delicious. They are typically pretty busy, but worth it. Some days they have a roving guitarist serenading patrons...it is amazing. The whole family loves their guacamole and their salsa is authentic tasting. We are all big fans of their steak. I personally love their Carne Tampiqueña. Only food I don't particularly like are the plantains--I just find them a little dry and I like the outside a little crispier, but that is just a matter of taste. Margaritas are so good and they make a delicious Champagne "sangria" cocktail with pomegranate juice as a special. read more

We understand these are the days of Covid, however this restaurant catered to the needs of the take out orders rather than the orders for the people sitting there. In addition, they must have overbooked and were too busy to handle the tables inside so the tables outside received no service. This might be my new favorite Mexican restaurant. Their seasonal watermelon margarita was SO good. I also had a red sangria and that was delicious too. The chips are served warm. We ordered 2 apps. Chicken quesadilla and an app on special which had pulled pork. Both were very good. I ordered shrimp fajitas with well done onions. It was a nice portion and the onions were perfect. Everybody enjoyed their dish. The service was on point, our water glasses were never empty. I'll be back for that watermelon marg for sure. read more

My friend recommended Maria's for great food. I have some corrective criticism... first, the parking is terrible-there's five spots for Maria's (good luck after that). We sat at a table a waited & waited & a waiter came over, he a no personality at all & a long face down to the floor as if we were bothering him (not friendly at all!). After giving our order, we asked for more chips & salsa, which never came & he seemed to have disappeared. It seemed that if you were not Spanish, you were kinda overlooked & put on the back burner. A young Spanish lady brought over our food, which looked good but my steak Fajitas were kinda tough but had good flavor so i did not complain & ate them. (I was afraid to complain & have to wait again a long time for food to come.) When the check came, we saw that they charged us for two dinners when we put our orders in way before 3:00pm. Granted I order Fajitas which are not on the lunch menu but the other was & due to the language barrier - it was difficult to explain what occurred since the waiter skipped out. The lady that ran the bar who was very helpful very understanding and took care of what we needed to be taken care of helped us out. We appreciate her being there for us. We didn't get her name, but she was the most helpful and most friendly person there that day. Such a shame that I got such a great recommendation for Maria's and it turned out to be a bad experience. Excellent Mexican food that can stand side-by-side with any Mexican restaurant from here to San Antonio. Everything we ate seemed to be homemade and fresh. Into autos with delicious burrito was a little over rice but high and tasty. Well worth the wait for this hidden gem on Long Island. Maria the owner is on site so quality control is in full effect. The bar small and the restaurant has about 20 tables. For those you complaining about wait times there's always Taco bell. So please stop with the nonsense. read more

Another restaurant taking their money woes out on the customer, after the China virus shut downs. Not only is Maria charging more money for meals, she's giving less food. A little less of this and that. Yes Maria, I noticed. I used to have leftovers for the next day. Now I'm looking for more to eat after finishing my meal. I'm not a big eater either. I loooooove this place. I normally never get sangria but there mix is so so good. My mouth is watering thinking of the food now. I love the combo options because it's always so hard for me to choose. Parking can be tight but totally worth it. They do have a bar if there are no tables available. We brought a friend here for her birthday and they put a sombrero on her and brought her a desert ..it was quite funny. Take out we've done at work a few times and they haven't forgotten anything ... Did Call ahead for a party of 2, table was ready on time. However, only ordered entrees sat at 7:15 entrees were served at 9:15pm!!! On a TUESDAY! The waitress comped a round of drinks... we waited so long we couldn't even eat our meals. A great experience here. As the weary business traveler, I posted up at the bar and got down to business with the Carne a la Tampiquena. The steak was delivered at the "medium" I ordered and the accompanying cheese enchilada was a melted cheesy mess. Picture wrapping the strings of melted cheese around a bite of the steak and adding a touch of guacamole. Yeah...you're welcome. Side of yuca fries since I was feeling salt depleted. As always, I went for an earlier than most dinner and it was filling up, certainly on the bar side. It's not my thing, but the margaritas seemed popular based on the comments from regulars and the hustle of the lime squeezing bartender. I don't know what it is but for me... I don't care too much for Maria's. Maybe I'm biased from the Portuguese food I've had in my life but I feel like this is just eh. Some of the ladies in my office absolutely LOVE Maria's.... I on the other hand don't. I'm sorry. I apologize if that's coming off rude but it's the truth. Last time I was there we made the wait staff well aware that we were on lunch and they just seemed to move at a very slow pace. Granted I respect that things need to be cooked but to be so slow on water too during lunch it's like cmon man I don't have all day to do this! The food is mediocre at best to be brutally honest. When we entered, the first thing I thought of was the smell of deliciousness. We were seated quickly and were given menus for restaurant week. Our experience is that the food during restaurant week is generally overrated. Much to our surprise we ordered off that menu and it was surprisingly good. We started our culinary adventure with the vegetable empanadas and some kind of enchilada appetizer. Both were good. For the main event I ordered the chicken enchiladas and daddy ordered roast pork with rice and beans. Serving sizes were plentiful and both dishes were very good. For dessert we ordered the mini churros with chocolate and caramel sauce and assorted ice cream with diced fruit, whipped cream and fruit sauce. They were both ok. The service was very good. All in all a very nice evening. Having been here many times before, I would say the fare was a bit off tonight. Will contribute that to the restaurant week menu. You won't save that much money using it so our recommendation would be to spend a few extra bucks and enjoy the full menu of options. Will not disappoint! read more
