You have to wait 10 seconds for it to go away to scan your next item and as soon as you bag that the obnoxious notice is back. God forbid you're trying to check out with more than a couple items or you'll be there for hours. I assume this is some kind of loss prevention thing but if you're that paranoid about someone stealing at the checkout then get rid of the kiosks and hire more checkers. And dont leave the self checkout as the only option at night. The only reason I ever went here was if I needed something later at night. Instead, from now on, I'm gonna drive the mile to the 24 hour Jewel Osco who don't call me a thief or waste my time.

Sometimes they can be closed when you'd expect them to be open, but that probably comes with being a small business without a huge staff. We suspect they also supply some restaurants in the area and that may be their biggest customer. Good place for those special occasions.
