The service you get here is pretty good, especially from the butcher counter. I would greatly prefer that they had a little larger choice than simply fried chicken and two soup choices though for their hot fresh food items. It seems that the Tinley park and Orlando park locations have much larger choice in that area. read more

I am highly disappointed and frustrated with my custom cake. I went to customer service desk and they said they couldn't help me to talk to the bakery department. When I went back to the bakery department, I told them I was not happy with this cake, there is a line, a gap in the image of the cake, icing is missing on all four sides to where you can see cake, the piping is inconsistent, some piping is standing while others are lying down, the image of the cake is dull, not vibrant, not sharp and bubbled on the cake. When I voiced my concern, they asked, "What's wrong with cake? I don't see a line?" I really don't appreciate being talked to like I'm stupid, in a very condensing way like I should be grateful I have a cake made and why am I complaining? I told them I know you see this line/gap. Then they said, " Oh that's how it prints in two sheet and we put it together." I told them this cake should be remade and not sold. They said it was too late to remake it, what do you want me to do? You want $10 off? I told them you got do something, I need a cake, you don't have time to remake a cake. So I took the discount and left highly disappointed. My cake should have never passed quality control. The finish of this cake lacked integrity, quality and passion. I will not be using this bakery again, no one cared nor took my concerns seriously even though I did not cause them. When the pictures of the cake was posted on social media, it looks unprofessional and no passion was put into the craft of cake making. The bakery staff had since Friday to make that cake over again since they gave me the cake that was prepared the day before. * This is the cake should have looked like vs what I received & after I decorated it. read more

Highly recommend this location if you enjoy being screamed at by employees that can't count. Tired to check myself out in self-checkout just to have 2 separate victims of America's piss-poor educational system start screaming at me "15 ITEMS OR LESS!!" After they decided to cause a scene without so much as doing the logical thing of counting the items, I took it upon myself. Low and behold, 15 items exactly. Absolutely trashy behavior and unacceptable way to treat people that are dropping the equivalent of an additional car payment on groceries in your store every month. I will never go back. read more

girllll so I ask this lady for help with the self check out right and after she littiraly rolls her eyes. I asked her for assistance and she gets annoyed that I asked her to do her job. She coverd her name tag and face when we tried to see the name. She had the most crooked teeth ever and some wack glasses, she's asian and RUDE. fire her. read more

BUYER BEWARE!! I ordered a pick-up order today that included chicken breasts, two packs. Both packs reeked from being severely spoiled, there's absolutely no way the associate didn't smell the stench or see the murky discoloration. The odor was so foul I had to take it to a public trash can to dispose because if it sits in my bin until garbage day, maggots and flies are guaranteed. This wasn't an oversight, it was a blatant act of negligence and carelessness. Thank goodness I was able to get an immediate refund but there's no way I would entrust Jewel of Oak Forest to shop my meat orders any longer. I do not recommend pick-up or delivery. read more

Gave wrong uber order, Couldn't even Verify with whom or what it was because they just left with the cart outside. As soon as they walked out. Of course nobody had name tags. I'll be calling corporate. Also curbside is on the west side NOT EAST. read more

I have shopped at this Jewel since 1998 and these past few years, service has gotten steadily worst. The staff move extremely slow. A wait at the deli counter, even with 4 to 5 staff, is at least 1/2 hour of a wait. I questioned the price of lunchmeat on my sliced to order. She said the sale price will be had at the register. It wasn't. I was going to the service counter to inquire about money back, but the line was very long. I guess this wasn't their only issue today. Today, at the meat counter, only one t-bone on display. After a two minute wait, a staff member finally appeared and asked if I needed help. I asked if there were more steaks available. (Side note, the butcher counter has 1 inch cuts. The pre-packaged cuts are thinner.). The response, pointing to the pre-packaged case, "There's some over there." Yeah, that is really bad service. I guess only select customers are allowed the thicker cuts. This is why I have and will continue to shop elsewhere. read more

Went in for cheap chicken Monday about 2 weeks ago now and was told they had no chicken. They said they had given all their chicken from deli to the Tinley park Jewel. Come to find out it was because Tinley Jewel had a power outage the day before and they needed chicken for their cheap chicken Monday. Oak Forest Jewel is just the worst store to go to in my opinion. Also through the month of August, each week I had bought a gallon of milk. Each one of these milk went bad with at least 5 days left on the expiration date Prompting me to keep buying it until I gave up. Went to the jewel store in Palos park for a gallon of milk and had no problems with spoilage. Also bought a pkg of Tillamook cheese that had white edges when opened it the next day. Expiration date on this product was 6 months out. On a brighter note, Pete's is opening on Wednesday. I'm going there read more

I am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding repeated mistreatment I have experienced at the Jewel-Osco located at 5616 W 159th Oak Forest IL while completing Uber Eats deliveries. This is approximately the third or fourth time that I have been subjected to unprofessional, condescending, and outright disrespectful behavior from an employee named Jim. Today, at approximately 6:00 PM, I arrived to pick up an Uber Eats order. As has happened multiple times before, Jim aggressively informed me that changes were being made to the way rideshare drivers handle orders, specifically that we would soon be required to scan all of our items and load our own vehicles. However, Uber Eats has not implemented any such update on my end, meaning there is currently no requirement for me to follow this supposed new protocol. When I calmly tried to explain this, Jim spoke to me in an extremely rude, demeaning, and condescending manner. His tone, body language, and overall demeanor were hostile and unprofessional. The situation escalated when he brought my order out to my car. Instead of carefully placing the cart, he allowed it to strike my vehicle--an action I found not only careless but blatantly disrespectful. I have never experienced such treatment in the six years I have worked as a delivery driver. Shortly after, I received a second order, which was brought out by a much more professional and courteous employee named Adam. Because this second order contained hot food, Adam wore mittens and kindly offered to help load my vehicle. As he was doing so, he explained that while changes may be coming to the process, they had not yet been fully implemented. Unlike Jim, Adam communicated this information professionally and respectfully. However, as Adam was assisting me, Jim took it upon himself to loudly and obnoxiously shout across the parking lot, demanding that Adam stop loading my vehicle. This outburst was not only inappropriate but completely uncalled for. His behavior was disruptive, aggressive, and humiliating. I have had enough of this treatment. No employee should be allowed to repeatedly harass and disrespect drivers who are simply trying to do their jobs. I request that this matter be addressed immediately and that corrective action be taken against Jim for his continued mistreatment of rideshare drivers. If necessary, I am more than willing to escalate this complaint further. I expect a prompt response and a resolution to ensure that I--and other drivers--are treated with basic decency and respect while conducting business at this location. read more

Not a very good representative of the Jewel chain of grocery stores. Pretty on the outside, but janky on the inside. It seems like they are trying to save money by not having enough stock people on staff ... most of the shelves were not blocked and fronted, and they were out of numerous items. If it had been before Thanksgiving - maybe an excuse, but now it is just bad management. What things they did have, they usually had one of. Not a very busy store but I think the Food4Less 100 yards east of it is taking their business. The Food 4Less is much better managed. While I would stop at this Jewel for an emergency item, I would not go out of my way to get here. Just not well run ... . Most of the bad reviews are within the last year, so maybe the pandemic really hit them hard. read more

This place is getting worst. Poor quality service and quality of food. Prices have gone up almost 30 percent. The employees were arguing while checkout, throwing food on the belt around. I will not go back. read more

The employees at this store are miserable. There are never enough cashiers, the prices are high, and orders are not ready on time. I just received a call from the store yesterday accusing me of stealing 7 pounds of chicken tenders. I placed the order in the morning for a 4 PM pick up. The poor woman working in the deli did her best, but I had to wait 30 minutes until my order was ready. I rushed to the self checkout lane to pay and the register froze after I scanned the tenders. No one came to help. I picked everything up and ran to wait in a lane with an actual employee at the register. I received a nasty voicemail from the store while I was carrying in the tenders LATE to a party asking me to come back to pay for them. The store has gone downhill dramatically in the past ten years and I will personally never shop there again. read more

Jewel-Osco - a receipt for a restaurant - Grocery Near Me - Oak Forest, Illinois

This is my favorite Jewel Osco to shop at in the area. The store is clean and rodent free (unlike the 183rd Kedzie location). The shelves are always stocked well, and I am able to find products that the other stores do not carry, such as Kombucha and Gluten free products. They have a big salad bar, and the Floral department has a beautiful section of flowers. As far as the customer service, the majority of the cashiers are very nice and pleasant. Unfortunately, I do not like the service desk manager. I believe her name is Maria. I find her to be very rude and unfriendly. She never greets me, thanks me, etc. She even puts my money on the counter instead of handing it to me. I've had many negative experiences with her. read more

Hey Anti-Maskers - Are you looking for a place that doesn't make you wear a mask? That won't stop you from shopping or ask you to leave then look no farther than here. If you are not an anti-masker and want to shop somewhere that follows the state mandate and feel safe while doing it, please support another business. I will no longer shop here. I got a message from the store director saying they won't stop anti maskers from shopping and they will literally accept anything as a mask, even a scarf or bandana around someone's neck. read more

For every 100 points $1 is given this add up especially after let's say 100's of people doing through checkout ..Please watch your receipts and make sure you check your app especially for your points .. The store itself and the employees are fantastic!! But the manager (Lorie) is NOT a people person and that's why the one star, hopefully Jewel will take notice!! She's extremely racist!! I've had to go to the customer service desk for one thing or another and when she's there I so dread it. If I need a rain check, she doesn't believe there aren't any left of what I told her I needed a rain check for!!! She rolls those eyes of hers and takes off down the aisle to see if I'm lying!! I've tried joking with her, telling her to have a blessed day and being as nice as I can.... The woman is just rude, racist and I've seen her yell at customers, embarrass them, being rude to customers and at times other customers have said things to me about her while waiting in line. I've had it, I will be seeing an attorney about this woman's attitude and Jewel for having her in their employment!! read more

Update. After going to the corporate website and sending a message, I was ignored. Seven days later, after no response, I called corporate, was assured they would escalate the issue. That was 8 days ago. Message loud and clear, Jewel: you are ignoring me, I don't matter, and you couldn't care less about my experience. Folks, Jewel-Osco DOES NOT CARE about you. All they care about are your dollars. They don't care if you're ill treated by their employees. They don't care if you're unhappy with their service. This place is the worst if you do a catering order. We placed an order for a wake. So keep that in mind as we are already grieving the loss of a loved one now we are grieving the fact they can't even make our mini sandwiches. Anyways I called early that morning to move the order pick up to 2pm Instead of 2:30pm the lady didn't even ask for our name! She also said it was no problem. So I said "don't you need a name?" She said no we only have ONE ORDER. So they couldn't even make the ONE ORDER they had. My husband went to pick it up and they never made ANYTHING. So now my husband is waiting around jewel in his suit hoping to deliver the food before the service starts at 3pm. This is just about the worst customer service you can get. read more

This Jewel is fine. They're always well stocked and the people are nice. The bakery is pretty good. But the hot bar at this one is always terrible. I think they keep it pretty fresh during lunch. But if you come after work to get wings for dinner, don't bother. As you can see from the pic, it's not edible. They should just pull the wings rather than have gross old ones sitting there. I see people leave full bags of wings on the shelves all the time. I know it's because they sampled them and was like 'no way.' And dropped them off. Lol read more

Jewel-Osco - Grocery Near Me - Oak Forest, Illinois

If I could give zero stars to this store I would. I have shopped here for years and have been loyal to this store but no more. I ordered a pan of chicken 2 days prior to my event and when I went to pick up this afternoon they had no order. That was the last straw. The deli which once was awesome has became ridiculous. They rest of the store has also gone downhill. During the last .88 cent sale they had nothing on the shelves even on the first day. Who is managing this place?? I will be contacting corporate and letting them know what kind of incompetence is happening. I will be giving my business to Mariano's. read more

They cant get an order right. They are all ignoramuses and they have made me incandescent and apoplectic.

I used to shop here almost without fail. I knew I was probably paying more for the same groceries I could get at a Walmart or elsewhere. But it was convenient, fast and friendly. Now that they have taken away the self checkout option and seemingly reduced their checkout staffing I now purposely avoid shopping here. It's always a long wait - even for a quick pick up of something small. The "express lanes" are always backed up and the regular lanes are worse. Not sure why this was done but it will be a mistake that will hurt the bottom line. Hopefully upper management will see that this was a mistake and correct it. read more

This is definitely the nicest grocery store in the area. The employees are nice and always say hello to you. It's sad that friendly employees are the exception these days. It's something as simple as that which makes a difference in your shopping experience. The setup in this store is really nice too. It's clean and well stocked. As I was leaving, I noticed the manager was up helping to bag groceries and greet the customers. Now that is not something you see everyday. It's nice to see managers help out with the little jobs. read more

I just have to write a review for this Jewel. For years I have been shopping here and they have never let me down, especially a shot out to the deli and the bakery. There have been times when I had to call them at the last minute for a tray of something and they have always gone out of their way to accommodate me with a smile. I appreciate them so much. All of the employees of this store have always been so helpful and I have been shopping their for 35 years!
