Common area Marianna Stoltz House

My wife and I stayed at the Marianna Stoltz House for 3 days in March 2024 visiting family who live in Spokane. The B&B is historic, quaint & quiet with this B&B -with a modern day flare to it as well. The Host is onsite and attentive to guests, if you need her she's a phone call away and very attentive. The House is "self check in" with information provided when we made our reservation on how to get thru the locks, etc. and was very easy. The House is lovely, with creaks in the wood floors you would anticipate and decorated with artifacts of yesteryear and modern times (games and books available for guests) as it was built in 1908. There are four upstair rooms which share a common bathroom. My wife and I stayed in the Ivy Suite for 3 nights, which had its own private bath including an old fashioned vintage tub with a modern day shower head. I would add: a steep step up into the tub, so probably something to think about if you are challenged with limited mobility issues. Our room had a google device to boost the internet signal which was helpful too! Breakfast was a modern day concept with pour over (local) roast coffee as a plus! Along with coffee there was yogurt, granola, fresh berries, hard boiled eggs, croissants with preserves, bananas, apples, tangerines, a small charcuterie board of sliced meats and cheese, hot tea and iced water. The common areas were well maintained and plenty of places to sit and relax. Overall, the house is comfortable, safe and well landscaped. 10 minute walk to Gonzaga, but nicely situated to local restaurants too. A nice alternative to the brand name hotels for a more quiet and relaxing experience.

Phillis the host is super sweet and helpful. The house is loaded with appropriate eta furnishings and decor. It felt like a step back in time. We stayed in the blue room with king bed that was comfortable. Breakfast was delicious!

Green room.

The innkeepers were actually out of town visiting SF when I stayed, but the woman watching over the place in their absence was very warm & welcoming. As the other reviewer mentioned, the home is in pristine condition. Gorgeous Victorian details. I stayed in the Green Room (#3), which was very pretty with 2 big windows and nice light. I had the bathroom across the hall to myself. They do provide basic toiletries. The bed was the most comfortable one of my two weeks traveling. It had a 4" foam top and felt like a dream (unless you hate soft beds :). It was a very quiet stay. I was the only one for breakfast so they whipped me up some bacon & eggs on an english muffin. It was more than enough food for me and very tasty. The location is great, only a few blocks from Gonzaga. I was hoping for some more dining options, but there wasn't much happening on a Sunday night. Overall, a very comfortable stay. I'd definitely return!

A lovely place to stay when generic hotel just won't do. Homey and personalized service. My host Phyllis literally made her hotel meal times and rhythms function around my schedule instead of me having to conform to hers! Delightful and private. I will stay here every time now that I've found this hidden gem! It's like stepping back in time...

This beautifully restored Victorian Mansion was our best B&B experience yet. The room are tastefully decorated in Victorian antiques. Everything from the claw-footed tub in the bathroom to the ornate chandelier in the dining room made us feel like we had stepped back in time. We would love to come back for one of their Victorian high teas. Every course of the full service breakfast was delicious, especially the dutch babies. The staff was great. Heather, the daughter of the owner, is an excellent cook. She made us feel comfortable and welcome. Looking forward to staying here again.

We had asked about it several times before, and the amount were were told hadn't changed, nor had it included tax. Their website didn't (and still doesn't) include the tax. When we called the event off, one of the parties received $800 (50% of the total, but $200 more than their deposit) and the other two parties received nothing. Denise (in charge of the mansion events) told us only half of the deposit was refundable. It has now been months, and I still don't have my share back, and the other party only got $200 back from the extra $200 they were sent. Don't trust these people under any circumstances. They deceive, lie, and won't even refund people that write them checks.

There were dirty napkins and swiss sauce pockets left in the drawers of the wet bar.Slash kitchen net situation. The suite was not a suite. The room was one big room, not separated by anything.Except a couch that separated the sleeping area to the sitting area, the couch was.I'm comfortable pillows, worn pink chipping. The floors were dingy looking like someone had just put lipstick on a pig. the room was located basically almost in the parking lot of this hotel room, which, by the way locks up at night and the front desk staff did not give us the code to get back in after. We came back rather late from a comedy show.Event at the bing theater With no phone number to reach anybody, we ended up, my husband had to climb through the gate to open it. So that we could gain access to our room, which may or may not have been a blessing.Being the fact that it was extremely loud.Carl arms went off all throughout the night and the more early morning car door slamming.Honking people outside being extremely loud. There was absolutely no way to make the room quieter. There was zero soundproofing attributed to that room They did give you a complimentary breakfast. However, it was limited to about four items. They did comp, you two free wine or beer beverages at their on site bar, which was extremely small. The waitress was pleasant, she was doing her job.Did she go over the top to make you feel welcome no, not really. She's served drinks. And that was about it. Would I ever recommend renting this place? No, if you have a lot of bags, or you find stairs challenging. This is not the place for you, they do not have an elevator and renting the presidential suite. Don't waste your money or your time. Or you're hearing or your sleep? Schedule, because you will gain none of those things. Also, the amenities in the room were not great. The products that they leave you to use were not high. End by any stretch of the imagination. Did they have some cute quirky artwork? And such sure, did it make up for it absolutely not. They should have invested more in the property and the quality of the sheets soundproofing than they did. A mural of The Beatles. Thank you so much.

1 Star - Predatory Fees, Religious Discrimination, Zero Accountability…read moreHotel Ruby in Spokane charged me a $22 "entertainment fee" -- a thinly veiled alcohol charge from their bar -- without disclosing it anywhere in my reservation. When I checked in and explicitly told the front desk agent that I do not drink alcohol for religious reasons and would not accept the charge, he looked me in the eye and told me it was policy. End of discussion. That's not policy. That's forcing a charge on a guest for something they don't want, didn't use, and objected to on religious grounds. I then contacted Expedia three separate times to dispute the charge. Three times. Each agent offered sympathy, vague promises to "email the property manager," and one even tried to buy my silence with a $50 credit toward a future booking -- as if I'd ever book through them again after this. No refund was issued. No one took responsibility. Expedia's final answer was essentially: the hotel won't budge, so good luck. Let's be clear, Expedia failed to disclose mandatory fees at the time of booking, failed to advocate for their customer, and then had the audacity to suggest I use a discount credit on a future reservation. There won't be one. This isn't a misunderstanding. It's deceptive billing, and both Hotel Ruby and Expedia own it equally. Stay somewhere that respects its guests. Additionally, the sink was clogged in my first room. The maintenance individual was kind and suggested to the front desk agent that I would need another room because the clog was a deeper issue that he would need to fix and he suggested I get part of my stay comped, but the rude front desk person completely ignored that.

All staff we have encountered have been very nice and helpful, Sara was great on helping us with an upgrade and get checked in early, both gentleman working the evening bistro were also very welcoming. But if train noises bother you, you won't enjoy it despite the ear plugs they provide. I appreciated the room size, the water pressure and the mini refrigerator/freezer and microwave in the room. The wifi worked perfectly well. The continental breakfast included microwavable biscuits with sausage and egg and multiple yogurts all of which I found acceptable. The parking lot was lit and in eyesight of our room. It was easy walking distance to the River Park area as well as many other restaurants. I felt perfectly safe there. I would have no issues staying here the next time we are in Spokane.

Stayed here recently and would stay again…read more I have stayed at the Hampton nearby multiple times but decided to stay here when in Spokane because it was 2/3 of the price of the Hampton for a similar setup (2 queen). Positives: Has free parking, it's clean, reasonably quiet, and provided a good night's sleep. Negatives: It's a little tired and worn, and the bed wasn't as comfortable as I would've liked. But it worked. Note if you're staying here in Sept/Oct of 2025, there's horrific road construction and you can only approach the hotel from one very specific road to the east. Google and Apple Maps will both try to take you down two roads that are currently both closed and are likely to be for some time. Give yourself adequate time to find the hotel on your own, as navigation doesn't work. I'd still stay here again given the price.

They offered make your own waffles, bagels, toast, juices, coffee, instant oatmeal, apples, bananas, cheese omelet, breakfast sausage, potatoes, grits, gravy, biscuits, cold cereal, packaged muffins, yogurt, and milk. At &115/night plus the fee for our grand dog, I'd say it was a deal.
