So we stayed at hotel ruby on thursday.April 9th we booked the only room that was on the ground floor what they call the presidential suite.It was not really a suite and far from presidential. the room came appointed with a double set of ear plugs that should have been my first indicator. There were dirty napkins and swiss sauce pockets left in the drawers of the wet bar.Slash kitchen net situation.The suite was not a suite.The room was one big room, not separated by anything.Except a couch that separated the sleeping area to the sitting area, the couch was.I'm comfortable pillows, worn pink chipping.The floors were dingy looking like someone had just put lipstick on a pig. the room was located basically almost in the parking lot of this hotel room, which, by the way locks up at night and the front desk staff did not give us the code to get back in after.We came back rather late from a comedy show.Event at the bing theater With no phone number to reach anybody, we ended up, my husband had to climb through the gate to open it. So that we could gain access to our room, which may or may not have been a blessing.Being the fact that it was extremely loud.Carl arms went off all throughout the night and the more early morning car door slamming.Honking people outside being extremely loud.There was absolutely no way to make the room quieter.There was zero soundproofing attributed to that room They did give you a complimentary breakfast.However, it was limited to about four items.They did comp, you two free wine or beer beverages at their on site bar, which was extremely small.The waitress was pleasant, she was doing her job.Did she go over the top to make you feel welcome no, not really. She's served drinks. And that was about it. Would I ever recommend renting this place? No, if you have a lot of bags, or you find stairs challenging. This is not the place for you, they do not have an elevator and renting the presidential suite. Don't waste your money or your time. Or you're hearing or your sleep? Schedule, because you will gain none of those things. Also, the amenities in the room were not great. The products that they leave you to use were not high. End by any stretch of the imagination. Did they have some cute quirky artwork? And such sure, did it make up for it absolutely not. They should have invested more in the property and the quality of the sheets soundproofing than they did. 1 Star - Predatory Fees, Religious Discrimination, Zero Accountability Hotel Ruby in Spokane charged me a $22 "entertainment fee" -- a thinly veiled alcohol charge from their bar -- without disclosing it anywhere in my reservation. When I checked in and explicitly told the front desk agent that I do not drink alcohol for religious reasons and would not accept the charge, he looked me in the eye and told me it was policy. End of discussion. That's not policy. That's forcing a charge on a guest for something they don't want, didn't use, and objected to on religious grounds. I then contacted Expedia three separate times to dispute the charge. Three times. Each agent offered sympathy, vague promises to "email the property manager," and one even tried to buy my silence with a $50 credit toward a future booking -- as if I'd ever book through them again after this. No refund was issued. No one took responsibility. Expedia's final answer was essentially: the hotel won't budge, so good luck. Let's be clear, Expedia failed to disclose mandatory fees at the time of booking, failed to advocate for their customer, and then had the audacity to suggest I use a discount credit on a future reservation. There won't be one. This isn't a misunderstanding. It's deceptive billing, and both Hotel Ruby and Expedia own it equally. Stay somewhere that respects its guests. Additionally, the sink was clogged in my first room. The maintenance individual was kind and suggested to the front desk agent that I would need another room because the clog was a deeper issue that he would need to fix and he suggested I get part of my stay comped, but the rude front desk person completely ignored that. read more

Room was clean and the hotel was centrally located. Can't go wrong with the room rate either.

The room was clean and pleasant looking. But.... The front desk guy told us all his grievances with his job and told us noise carried so to not have sex in the room. I was helping friend check in so that was a bit rude. There were ear plugs as an amenity which was a bad sign. Friend said the first night a bunch of completely drunk women were fighting in parking lot. Physically fighting. He mentioned this to front desk clerk who shrugged. Thankfully fighting women stumbled off at high speed when they heard the whoop a police car. There was no maid service the next day. No new towels. But all the tv/coffee maker/hair dryer/ ect worked. Friend said all 3 nights he came back to room with no maid service though he heard the maid/s cleaning other rooms. The last night the friend stayed there, a woman had LOUD, performative, sex in a room somewhere around friend's room location. Friend said, "I guess that was why we were warned about noise carrying so avoid sex in room." Parking can be tricky and the map for second lot is bullshit. That lot closes at 8 pm. So...make sure to ask desk clerk. Good luck with that as they act like standby characters in video games and take a few seconds to engage braincells. There are not many good, decent priced, hotels in Spokane. It's too bad there were issues for my friend here. read more

I'll start by saying we've stayed here once before and had a good experience. staff and location is outstanding that's what the two stars represent. It goes down hill from there. Parking is a challenge If you can find room at the hotel. Overflow parking is two blocks away. Regular big city problems just steps from our door. Homelessness, drugs, crime, but that's not the hotels fault. This is though...our room (105) was dirty and run down. Read the other reviews. How they describe Hotel Ruby is accurate. Sorry to be so descriptive but there was a large human booger someone had wiped on the wall next to the microwave. Yeah, very nice. We looked to see if a different hotel had a room we could escape to but it was "hoop fest" weekend and everything was booked. There are other options for lodging in the area we'll utilize on our net trip to Spokane. I will not stay at Hotel Ruby again. read more

Horrible customer service and overcharged multiple times. Non-responsive and incompetent management. We booked a room at Hotel Ruby online for a Friday night stay. We paid online to reserve the room. We were pretty excited, as we live close to Spokane and love their Sapphire Lounge. We checked in at about 7 or so Friday evening. We got the hotel room to celebrate our friend's birthday that evening, but he cancelled due to illness. We decided to check out at about 11 pm. The girl at the front desk states, "Looks like you were never charged." And we stated we had paid prior online. "...Oh, correct, and you've been double charged... don't worry, this will be taken care of. You guys can leave." She gives me the manager's email and says she cannot be reached by phone. We left thinking it was all taken care of. Saturday morning: We see ANOTHER charge on our account. We didn't even stay there, and we're being charged like over $500?! It was supposed to be $215 which we already paid. I call the hotel and the woman at the desk says the manager will contact me Sunday. She takes down my info. On Sunday, I don't get an email OR a call. I call again and I get offered the email. I WAS TOLD I would be contacted today. She says the manager isn't in and I can reach her Monday! Today is Monday. No call. I called and no one is picking up the phone? Update: I called again and Francesca (manager) answered. I explained the situation and she said she would give us a 10% discount on our room for the inconvenience. She said she was sending me an email going over everything. No email was sent and they refunded the money but then charged it again!? At this point, I don't even know what to do or say. I told my boyfriend to handle it as the charges are in his card. Today I got a text from my boyfriend: "hotel ruby said francesca has the rest of the week off but the guy i talked to said she messed up the refund, but he gave me the rest of the refund. he stated in a few days i should only have one charge for $180." Despite only having one hanger in the room for 2 people to share, no place to put clothes, so you have to keep your clothes in you bags or suitcases, no drawers. We didn't have an iron board in our room, and the desk clerk told me they have no more, so she have to pull one out of the rooms when one become vacant. After our checkout, upon making it the airport, we discovered we had been charged 272 dollars for smoking outside the room at 1am in the morning. We were told there was a hint of smoke that lingered and went into the rooms, from the same area the manager and other employees were smoking. They didn't say anything about smelling smoke in our room, we were told that they looked at the video cameras. I wonder do they pull video on every guest that checkouts to see where they were smoking outside. And this wasn't mentioned at all at checkout. I really don't think they check the camera after every customer checkout, I think we were targeted as out of town visitors of color, and charged us with a outrageous fee, that they said it was a hint of smoke, that lingered outside for hours.... A hint of smoke....the manager (Ashford) that charged us this outrageous fee was actually vaping with other employees under the patios in an area where they were cleaning. So the management is charging fees for the same thing they are doing.....steer clear from this place. They have plenty other hotels in the downtown area. They looking to put these stupid high charges in you credit cards after you leave the premises. read more

We love staying here!! Just finished a trip, stayed at the Ruby. The price was fantastic for the location. Its within walking distance to tons of bars, food, coffee. We had a super clean room, the staff was phenomenal and super kind! Theres not much for coffee in the room but delicious fresh coffee at the front desk along with a few bagged pastry options for breakfast. We will stay again! read more

Had a weekend in Spokane and thought we'd stay at Hotel Ruby. It was my wife and I in one room and our friends in another. First night our friends mentioned their wifi was unbearable. We also find out the room AC unit make whining noises all night. Great. The next day we thought we'd try out their free bikes. Turns out the bike I was on had loose handlebars. In my ride around town I found out I not only had a flat tire, but the inner tube was leaking. Thankful the local auto shop pumped it up for free, lasted just long enough to make it home. Next night my wife and I heard water dripping from the bathroom. We thought it was just the thin walls and that we were hearing the neighbors. Turns out it was the ceiling leaking from upstairs. Great. They place us in another room. Thank you. The handy man follow up with us to find out where it was leaking. Looks pretty obvious to me. He says he apparently fixed the upstairs room recently. I don't think it worked. As soon we get there we find out the wifi doesn't work. I ask and the girl at the front, Valeria?, she states they've been having issues as they have a new provider or something. Says she would maybe upgrade us and keep me posted on the wifi status. I never get a call and we never get upgraded. We follow up later on and the next girl at the front has no idea what we're talking about. If all you need is a mattress, here's your spot. Sorry! This is so late! About 2 weeks ago, my husband, dog and I drove from Chicago to Seattle. One can simply not drive westbound on 90 and expect to not end up in Spokane. Turned to booking.com, as that site hasn't failed us yet, to make our reservations for a one night stay. When I arrived to check in, the FD person could only see our reservation on the site, but it hadn't registered in their system. Unbeknownst to us, this was the last day of Hoopfest, so immediately, I figured we were screwed. Nope! After some magic, she was able to cancel our website rezzie and then rebook us (at the same rate) into a room for that night! This is an adorable hotel, very modern and hipster, which could he a turn off to some people; I found it adorable. Each and every staff member we encountered was pleasant, professional and polite. There IS a restaurant/bar attached to the lobby (you end up getting a BoGo coupon at check in) and there are quite a few spots within walking distance. read more

Honestly, you can tell by the other ONE STAR reviews that this place is not what it advertises. It is not a boutique, it is a shameful shithole with the worst most disguisting room I've ever seen. My parents owned and operated a 4 star hotel (Cannon's Resort on Lake Chelan) and I know complete garbage when I see it. In fact, the room was so utterly disgusting that we walked out immediately and forfeited our non-refundable room. I originally was going to give this hotel a good rating, since the first time I stayed here in May 2021 it was great. However the second time was a complete disaster. Absolutely no parking, I was told "first come first serve" for their lot. We were told we could park in an adjacent lot a block away, just to be charged the $5 parking fee, when I didn't even park in their lot. My family has stayed here on 2 different occasions. To tell you the truth, price and location of the property was what drew me. Service was great both times. Our room was a nice size and each time we got the same room. What's the chances of that so I'm not sure if all the rooms are bigger like ours. We walked every where downtown. Conveniently located restaurant, shops, the mall and Riverfront Park. The only negative is their parking issues. There is actually only about 15 parking spaces behind a gate. If you hapoen to be one of the ones who comes in a lot is full sign is up, you must park in a non gated parking lot across the street. This is not a great area with homeless people all around. During the day we felt safe walking around. At night, not so much! Do not leave any valuables and DO NOT park on the street. On the last day some unfortunate person parked on the street and the passenger window was smashed with the glove compartment gone through. The car did not have a parking pass on the dash so it may have been someone staying at the hotel but I don't think people like that look to see a parking pass and decide to skip that car and go to another. read more

Purchasing an old, run-down, fleabag motel, attaching a bar to it and slapping some non-traditional paint colors on it does not make it "boutique" nor does it magically change it into a "hotel". And the cheapskate that owns this dump knows it. There is nothing boutique or hotel-like about this place. The professional shyster/owner of this place simply took an old dump of a motel, painted it black and red, hung some giant murals on the outside walls, put some new tile in the shower and decided he was the owner of a "boutique hotel". He didn't even bother to touch up the extremely filthy and run-down paint in the bathrooms. Or bother to fix interior doors that are literally falling apart. I've never seen a boutique hotel that has the cheapest industrial carpeting available, bad budget leather couches leftover from the 90's or the same grimy, filthy wall switches that have been in the motel for 500 years (and never been cleaned). I've also never seen one that has the exact same room layout that it has had since the 60's, complete with uselessly tiny sinks, bad baby diarrhea colored formica countertops, tank-less toilets, or the smallest fucking bathroom I've ever seen anywhere (including in third world countries and cramped European hotels). The cheaper-than-IKEA ultra low quality furniture doesn't help either. Literally the most minimal amount of effort was put into doing a basic sprucing up of this turd before slapping the "boutique hotel" title on it. The amount of effort put into turning the ruby into anything that remotely resembles a boutique motel warrants a D -. Maybe even an F + Checked in late at night only to find I had to park several blocks away at the sister property because there was no parking left. At check out a few days later found that I had to pay $5 extra per night for this privilege. The shyster who owns this dump has no qualms about failing to disclose anywhere during the booking process that parking is extra $$ or parking several blocks away is also extra $$. I refused to pay it. The lady at the front desk whined, but I simply asked her to show me where in the booking process the parking fee is mentioned. She couldn't. If you need to connect to the internet to get some work done or even do something as simple as check your email, forget about it. You're SOL. The 1993 dial-up speeds of the internet in this sham of a motel are virtually unusable. The staff isn't much better. During the late night check in, I asked the dude at the front desk where I could take my dogs to go pee. He had no clue. Stellar service for a "hotel" that promotes itself as being dog-friendly. Ended up walking around downtown Spokane for literally half an hour at 1:00 in the morning trying to find any tiny patch of grass or dirt for my dogs to take a leak. Ended up finding one within a block of the Ruby Motel. The spectacular hospitality you'll find at this glorified motel also includes loaner bikes of which only half have functioning brakes or inflated tires, and an uber-cheap "continental breakfast" that is frequently handled by glove-less employees who do not wash their hands before handling the food. If you're an exhibitionist, you'll love the incompetent housekeepers that knock on your door literally as they are opening it. The owner of this dump either knows nothing about hospitality or is too greedy to care. Don't be deceived by glorified pictures on the Ruby website or glowing reviews from people who can't tell the difference between a "boutique hotel" and a run-down motel. read more

Staff is very accommodating for us having a wedding party over frequently and was really helpful with the best areas to walk our dog. When I told my taxi driver that I was staying at Hotel Ruby, his response was: "on purpose?" Apparently, the old time Spokane residents remember the Ruby as it's former sketchy motel self, but I can assure you it's perfectly safe, and clean, and pleasant and best of all CHEAP. For $70-80 a night, you can't find a better deal in town. It's certainly no Davenport, but it definitely does the job. Great if a Night's Sleep is Just What You Need SITREP For a quick overnight stay in Spokane, the Hotel Ruby is a great inexpensive alternative for a good night's sleep. SETUP Had left the Coeur d'Alene Indian Casino on a Friday night after their awesome seafood buffet. But had no desire to stay in their considerably expensive rooms for the night. Plus the casino doesn't have the greatest night life. As it turns out, got tickets to catch a show at the Knitting Factory in Spokane with friends, and so hitting the road afterwards to head back to Seattle was probably not going to happen. ROOM Got a nice double queen-bed room for three of us to crash in ending the night at 3am, for basically what was going to amount to a mere 6 hours of sleep before heading back to Seattle with a desire to get there in a 5 hour trek before 3pm. So we checked out at 9am and hit the road. No fuss, no muss. Great sleep. Great showers to start our day. THE LOWDOWN A decent hotel alternative in Spokane. read more

The area, unfortunately, has seen a significant increase in vagrants that have necessitated the installation of a secured parking area. Cute little boutique hotel. Very artistic and tasteful. Staff was friendly and the rooms were clean. Parking on the weekends may be a problem given that the lot was full on a Monday night. The elevator is impractical and doesn't appear to be wheelchair accessible. Had a decent complimentary breakfast that included DIY waffles, hard boiled eggs, English muffins, fruits, juice, and good coffee. Would stay again. I give Hotel Ruby a 3.5 They took a falling apart, dirtbag motel and gave it an extreme facelift. We stayed in a room with two double beds. The lobby is tiny, as is the lounge, but cute and modern decor makes up for the lack of space. The room with double beds is tiny and the paint job is poor, but I'm sure it's definitely an upgrade from its original state. The furniture and fixture upgrades look quite nice and the artwork is great if it wasn't for being hung up by literally pounding nails right through the canvas into the drywall. I woke up this morning with a very sore back from the hard mattress, but the amazing shower head in the newly modern bathroom rained down hot water on to me like a waterfall, releasing my muscles. Unfortunately I did notice black mold/mildew on the ceiling above the shower, which could easily be cleaned with some bleach... (might want to check that out, Ruby staff!) But the fan in the bathroom was not working either which probably contributes to the problem. For anyone who has an eye for attention to detail, they will likely notice the sloppiness of l the makeover, but the location can't be beat and the price is right. read more

The bikes along probably saved us $40 becasue we only wanted to go up and down the few urban paths that we could reach within 4 blocks of the hotel. I was very surprised and happy with Hotel Ruby! For the price i wasn't sure what to expect, but it turned out to be a great night's stay. I could definitely tell that it used to be a scummy motel that just got a trendy makeover, but who cares! Bathroom was a bit dingy (BUT CLEAN!) in the tub and sink, and banged up walls and doors, but linens and towels were clean and fluffy, and the bed was comfy! Kinda cheesy artwork and decor, but that kind of stuff just isn't my vibe - doesn't matter though because it's not like i have to live there and look at it every day! Free WiFi, great shower head, didn't hear a peep from neighbours or traffic or anything, and the front desk lady cleared away a safe spot for us to park the motorbike! Also, they just opened up another location a few blocks away called "Ruby 2" in a scummy old Howard Johnson! So yay - another dump turned into something cute! Thanks, Hotel Ruby! One of the few good things about this hotel is the bar. I was feeling under the weather and was able to get a hot toddy to help me feel better before bed. The elevator is a death trap I utilized since I was feeling too ill for stairs. My room was decorated with a veneer of filth that extended from the walls to the dirty baseboards. The toilet resembled a fixture from an elementary school bathroom and the 1990s clock radio and cheap bedside lamps need USB ports. The first night I was in bed, I thought the pillows smelled dirty. I dismissed the stink pillows since I knew I didn't feel well. I slept with my socks on because I didn't want my bare feet touching the floor. Night two, I did not return early enough to get a parking spot and had to park across the street. Hotel Ruby's "overflow parking" at their other location was not an option; I was NOT walking back two blocks alone after dark. Around midnight, my neighbors were so loud I complained to the front desk, but since my room was located near the building's front the street and bar noises were unavoidable. I confirmed the pillows stank like greasy hair. Ironically, "Hotel California" blared from an outdoor speaker somewhere nearby. The only redeeming experience of night three at Hotel Ruby was realizing it was the final night of my stay. The Friday night street noise was unbearable. For some reason the front desk allowed two drunk women, Amber and Tiffany, to argue on the sidewalk in front of the bar until well after 1 am. Amber was upset because Tiffany wasn't as attentive to their friendship as she should be-- I know this because I heard the whole thing as clearly as if the duo were in my room. Amber and Tiffany's relationship was as malodorous as the pillows on the bed. If another trip to Spokane is in my future, I will not stay at Hotel Ruby. However, I am confident wherever I do stay, I will still smell Hotel Ruby's pillows from miles away. read more

We stayed at Hotel Ruby for one night while we visited Spokane's waterfront. It was a charming and beautifully renovated motel with local artists work adorning the walls and all around the buildings outside. We needed to change our reservations and they were happy to accommodate our needs without penalty. They offered buy one get one free beer/wine coupon for the bar downstairs and we were able to go to the burger place next door with a voucher for breakfast- eggs/ toast or breakfast sandwich (drinks not included) although there is free coffee in the lobby of the hotel. The room smelled like an old building but it was clean. And, the road noise can wake you up at night if you're not used to living in a city. My husband and I wanted a night away And on a whim decided to stay downtown. Every place we checked was either crazy expensive or sold out! So when we called Hotel Ruby they said we could have the hospitality Suite which was on ground level for a really decent price. The place was super cute with a chic boutique feel. Not everything was perfect of course, but we weren't paying $200/Nt or more either! It was perfect for what we needed. It had a kitchenette with a bar and bar stools- equipped with dishes and cups and glasses. A couch and a large TV mounted on the wall and a king size bed with LED color-changing columns by the bed. And a Kuerig for coffee in the morning. We loved the place and it is just what we needed!! Super close to everything we wanted to be next to as well. We will be back! read more

I really want to give this hotel a good rating because I do like the people, the rooms are comfy and it's reasonably priced. Some people may have no issue with this and I hope the management / owners read this. The first time we stayed there last May was great. Travis was wonderful - helped us out with some printing, was very friendly and professional. This time we arrived and I opened the door to the small lobby and two nice smiling women greeted me. How did I know they were smiling? Because neither were wearing a mask. I stood at the door and answered that yes I had a reservation and waited for an awkward minute. I then asked them if there wasn't a mask mandate in the state - whereupon they quickly reached for a couple of masks and told me they were "just going to put them on." They said they don't see any point to wearing them if it is just the two of them. They didn't pinch the nose part of the masks so their noses were exposed the entire time I was in the lobby. In case you are someone who believes Covid is a thing, Delta is more transmissible because the virus is more successful at staying active in the small water particles in the air that we release when we breathe or talk - without a mask. So putting on a mask just for when someone walks in the door doesn't do much to protect anyone, and putting on a mask that doesn't cover your nose does absolutely nothing to protect anyone. The entire front page was dedicated the medical staff at local hospitals burning out from overcrowding from covid patients. Well I'm staying at Hotel Ruby's right now writing this review. We were really excited to stay at Ruby"s the jazz theme seemed really cool. My wife and I decided this hotel because we could finally get a chance to enjoy a drink at a bar without our kids. So we finally put our boys down after a long day ice skating around 10:30pm. We were so excited to have a drink together and little did we know the bar closes whenever the bartender wants to. I called the front desk and all I got was the bar just closed. So we were pretty bummed. I decided to walk down to the bar to maybe get a chance to get a beer or a mixed drink for my wife before the bartender left because Hotel Ruby gave us a buy one drink get one free. I couldn't believe what I saw. the bartender was still there doing his homework at the bar drinking a mixed drink. Still the front desk wouldn't even ask. I told her that's why we picked this hotel because as parents with two kids it's very hard to find time to even go into a bar and sit down. Before you judge me I'm not talking about getting smashed at the bar I just wanted to have one drink with my wife and then head to bed. Not a lot to ask for but when I personally walk down to the bar and see the bartender drinking and won't even help a customer who paid full price and Hotel Ruby highlights the bar as a main attraction very disappointing!!!!!!!!!! I live in Montana and we decided to come to Spokane for one night and head back home the next day. Like I said very very disappointed because we pretty much based our night to enjoy a little bit of quality time with my wife and also feel comfortable leaving our kids while they sleep for a couple of minutes. The staff didn't even help. I would of rather stayed at a hotel with a pool w/ a hot tub because at least we could of enjoyed a little quality time instead of sitting in our room watching Shrek 2. Over all the rooms were pretty cool so there was a positive. Awesome showers. Most likely won't be coming back though because apparently staff has a lack of interest in telling there customers the bar closes when ever they feel like it. This place is cool.... I do have a complaint we stayed 2 nights $170 a little spendy for this place but to add 10$ on for parking you got to be joking, when the lady at the front desk said first come first serve with parking. So how can you charge when it was plum full when we arrived and had to park on the street?? Have stayed here a couple times while in town for business. Not a bad little place. I dig the color scheme and art and fixtures. It is in no way a ritzy hotel, but the price is good and the location is great. I have had pleasant staff each time. The drink coupon added a star to the rating. The parking is tight, and the carpet feels a little sketch.. but the room is clean and the Wi-Fi is adequate. I have not tried the breakfast, so I can't vouch for that. And the elevators are not very big and I would expect anyone in a wheelchair would have some difficulty getting in and out. We will definitely stay here again. read more

Checked in around 10 on a Friday night and like others have stated the parking lot is tight with limited parking. Fortunately there was one spot left, otherwise we would have had to park at the Ruby 2 which is 1.5 blocks away. The room looked newly remodeled and was pretty decent. The 2 story hotel definitely had some old school charm. This location is downtown and the lobby bar was definitely not closed early. We had room 101, which was directly above the bar next to the street. This is not ideal for a family driving across country, but may be perfect if you are up partying. A lot of noise from the bar with chatter and music, plus so much noise from passing cars and motorcycles. read more

This may well be the worst hotel that I have ever spent the night. We arrived at Hotel Ruby late in the evening, around 11. There was sign up that the parking lot was full. WHAAAT?! How do you have a hotel with insufficient parking? No valet either. We went in to check in, what can we do about parking. Well....you can park at our other lot a few blocks away. Okay, so you want two women, traveling alone, to walk from a place they don't know, alone, at night, in downtown Spokane? Yes that was what they wanted. I explained that we didn't feel safe. Not their problem! Their go to line was "Well, this is downtown Spokane so parking is tight." I asked to speak with a manager. Sorry none was on duty. Well then call one. No answer. The youngster attending to the front desk was completely clueless about hospitality service and had no business being on duty by himself. On to the room. First we had to squish into a tiny elevator that didn't seem to have been serviced since the 60s. Then down an exterior hall and up some stairs with our luggage - no elevator or ramp to avoid these stairs. The room was decorated like a cheap bordello. The homemade curtains were something a five year old might have sewn together. The bathroom had broken tiles and old fixtures. Hadn't truly been updated in years. Throwing a few homemade curtains up and a cheap bedspread on the bed is not a renovation. We did not try the complimentary breakfast. We could not get out of there fast enough. read more

This place has not transformed from a grimy motel. Still grimy. Still a motel. Our room was pretty nasty: green stains in the bathtub, black stains in the grout between the tiles, broken and dented radiator, scuff marks and scratches on the walls, uncomfortable beds, and dim lighting. The black and red color scheme really only reinforces the red light district feeling, as does the cheap poster art thumb tacked to the wall and the streetlight that comes in through the unlined curtains. Annoying as well that they don't have enough parking for everyone in this motel, since who would even come without a car?? This is not a historic jewel in need of preservation; it is just taking up prime space in downtown Spokane. read more
