The B&B is historic, quaint & quiet with this B&B -with a modern day flare to it as well. The Host is onsite and attentive to guests, if you need her she's a phone call away and very attentive. The House is "self check in" with information provided when we made our reservation on how to get thru the locks, etc. and was very easy. The House is lovely, with creaks in the wood floors you would anticipate and decorated with artifacts of yesteryear and modern times (games and books available for guests) as it was built in 1908. There are four upstair rooms which share a common bathroom. My wife and I stayed in the Ivy Suite for 3 nights, which had its own private bath including an old fashioned vintage tub with a modern day shower head. I would add: a steep step up into the tub, so probably something to think about if you are challenged with limited mobility issues. Our room had a google device to boost the internet signal which was helpful too! Breakfast was a modern day concept with pour over (local) roast coffee as a plus! Along with coffee there was yogurt, granola, fresh berries, hard boiled eggs, croissants with preserves, bananas, apples, tangerines, a small charcuterie board of sliced meats and cheese, hot tea and iced water. The common areas were well maintained and plenty of places to sit and relax. Overall, the house is comfortable, safe and well landscaped. 10 minute walk to Gonzaga, but nicely situated to local restaurants too. A nice alternative to the brand name hotels for a more quiet and relaxing experience.

Such a beautiful, tastefully decorated late 1800s Victorian home. Lovely and so nicely decorated for the holidays. The price for what you get is very decent. Very accommodating and friendly staff. They did a nice job preserving the EJ Robert's family history. The billard room has a neat glassed case mini museum of the Robert's history. Romantic yet fun. Great get-away place! We also went to Browne's Tavern right next to the mansion, same owner. We've been here many times and Browne's Tavern has good food depending on what you order. For example, their omelets and salmon with dill... really good, but the hummus plate and flat iron steak...just okay. Overall, nice menu. Lots to chose from. They have friendly servers and a very neat atmosphere along with decent prices. If you show your room key from the mansion, they will take an additional 10% off your food/alcohol bill. Cheers to both places!

This beautifully restored Victorian Mansion was our best B&B experience yet. The room are tastefully decorated in Victorian antiques. Everything from the claw-footed tub in the bathroom to the ornate chandelier in the dining room made us feel like we had stepped back in time. We would love to come back for one of their Victorian high teas. Every course of the full service breakfast was delicious, especially the dutch babies. The staff was great. Heather, the daughter of the owner, is an excellent cook. She made us feel comfortable and welcome. Looking forward to staying here again.

There were dirty napkins and swiss sauce pockets left in the drawers of the wet bar.Slash kitchen net situation. The suite was not a suite. The room was one big room, not separated by anything.Except a couch that separated the sleeping area to the sitting area, the couch was.I'm comfortable pillows, worn pink chipping. The floors were dingy looking like someone had just put lipstick on a pig. the room was located basically almost in the parking lot of this hotel room, which, by the way locks up at night and the front desk staff did not give us the code to get back in after. We came back rather late from a comedy show.Event at the bing theater With no phone number to reach anybody, we ended up, my husband had to climb through the gate to open it. So that we could gain access to our room, which may or may not have been a blessing.Being the fact that it was extremely loud.Carl arms went off all throughout the night and the more early morning car door slamming.Honking people outside being extremely loud. There was absolutely no way to make the room quieter. There was zero soundproofing attributed to that room They did give you a complimentary breakfast. However, it was limited to about four items. They did comp, you two free wine or beer beverages at their on site bar, which was extremely small. The waitress was pleasant, she was doing her job.Did she go over the top to make you feel welcome no, not really. She's served drinks. And that was about it. Would I ever recommend renting this place? No, if you have a lot of bags, or you find stairs challenging. This is not the place for you, they do not have an elevator and renting the presidential suite. Don't waste your money or your time. Or you're hearing or your sleep? Schedule, because you will gain none of those things. Also, the amenities in the room were not great. The products that they leave you to use were not high. End by any stretch of the imagination. Did they have some cute quirky artwork? And such sure, did it make up for it absolutely not. They should have invested more in the property and the quality of the sheets soundproofing than they did. A mural of The Beatles. Thank you so much.

1 Star - Predatory Fees, Religious Discrimination, Zero Accountability…read moreHotel Ruby in Spokane charged me a $22 "entertainment fee" -- a thinly veiled alcohol charge from their bar -- without disclosing it anywhere in my reservation. When I checked in and explicitly told the front desk agent that I do not drink alcohol for religious reasons and would not accept the charge, he looked me in the eye and told me it was policy. End of discussion. That's not policy. That's forcing a charge on a guest for something they don't want, didn't use, and objected to on religious grounds. I then contacted Expedia three separate times to dispute the charge. Three times. Each agent offered sympathy, vague promises to "email the property manager," and one even tried to buy my silence with a $50 credit toward a future booking -- as if I'd ever book through them again after this. No refund was issued. No one took responsibility. Expedia's final answer was essentially: the hotel won't budge, so good luck. Let's be clear, Expedia failed to disclose mandatory fees at the time of booking, failed to advocate for their customer, and then had the audacity to suggest I use a discount credit on a future reservation. There won't be one. This isn't a misunderstanding. It's deceptive billing, and both Hotel Ruby and Expedia own it equally. Stay somewhere that respects its guests. Additionally, the sink was clogged in my first room. The maintenance individual was kind and suggested to the front desk agent that I would need another room because the clog was a deeper issue that he would need to fix and he suggested I get part of my stay comped, but the rude front desk person completely ignored that.

The view from the HUGE porch is lovely. There's tons of common "hang out" space both inside and out. If you play the piano or a string instrument there are instruments for use and that use is encouraged. There are a few friendly cats on the property. I stayed in a room with a shared bathroom (shared with a couple in the next room) and there was never an issue. The bathroom had sinks with toilet and shower in a separate area with a door, so you could brush teeth while someone was showering with no issue. An extra half bath downstairs was helpful too. The decor was eclectic and fun and always something to look at. (One of the owners designed and created most of it himself.) There's wine out in the afternoon/evening and a lovely coffee and tea bar that's VERY well stocked. Breakfast had two time options and is served in individual servings and, in our case, a platter if fruit to pass. The breakfast was a cinnamon roll bread pudding and a veggie and potato frittata with sliced melon on the side. It was delicious and I enjoyed chatting with the other guests over the meal. Beds were comfy and wifi was solid. (I stayed in the three twins room - be aware that the third twin is lifted above the closet and entryway, so it may be cramped for a larger person.) I truly enjoyed my short stay here and will definitely visit again if I'm in the area!
