I'll start with the positives: the location was good, the room was nice and met our needs. Unfortunately that was it.
After a really long day of driving from Belfast to Galway, we arrived at midnight. The first words out of our mouth upon waking up the hosts were "we're so sorry." Then we proceeded to ask about checking in. We knew it was way too late and very rude, but we also underestimated the drive. Since we didn't have service, we were unable to send word. The lady host (Celine?) was unprofessional and rude. She started going in on us about the time and badgered us for several minutes despite our constant "sorry" responses.
The badgering continued the next morning as we checked out, she kept reminding how it was unacceptable. Keeping our mouths shut, we just kept apologizing. Then upon checking out, she required us to pay by cash, which meant we had to walk to the nearest ATM and take out money and be charged a fee, although we went through booking.com.
Lastly, although I'm pretty sure breakfast is supposed to be included, she told us she couldn't provide for us because of our late arrival...even though she should have prepared as if we were coming, right? read more
