This is the second time I visited him since two different general dentists (one five years ago and the other now). The first was because of a broken tooth but Dr. Sanchez recommended extraction rather than root canal, which I had done by another dentist when I got back to Florida. This second time was because my FL dentist wanted me to see an endodontist due due to extreme pain when eating something cold- love that Tillamook Ice Cream! Having had such a good first experience with Dr. Sanchez, I waited until I returned to LI to see Dr. Sanchez. He examined my x-rays and the tooth that my dentist had capped 6 weeks ago and also the adjoining teeth. He doubted that the capped one needed a root canal and after testing the adjoining teeth determined with reasonable certainty that one of them was the culprit due to a suspected hairline fracture and receding gumline which creates the opportunity for sensitivity. So this is the second time I was sent to him for possible root canal and the second time he advised against it. His opinion the first time turned out to be the correct course and I have no doubt that this one will be the same. I cannot recommend him enough for his friendliness, completely understandable diagnosis and plan for further wait and see. I have no doubt because of my experience with him and the other reviews that if I end up needing RC, he is the man! But the way the pain is diminishing I think he is correct and that the sensitivity will diminish over time. Do not hesitate to see him and his clean, modern office with all the latest hi tech equipment. He will only do the root canal if he is certain it is needed.

On Monday morning at 8:15, I called the office # and was surprised that Dr. Nevins, himself, had answered the phone (sounded like he was in his car.) He told me to come in at noon that same day. After my consultation with him, he told me he could do the first part of the procedure that same day at 3pm. Since I work in Southampton, it was easy enough for me to go back to work for a few hours and then return to have the work done. Dr. Nevins and his staff are all so sweet, gentle and caring. What a truly, nice group of people. I am so glad that he was referred to me by a friend. I definitely recommend him if you are need of an endodontist.

Dawn has 30+ years in that office and was sympathetic to my situation. This is a long post for those who have trauma or sensory issues - please read. I went to this office because I am an adult with trauma. I didn't go to the dentist until I was 11 and having my teeth cleaned took 4x due to swelling and cavities. It was horrific. Recently I had a crown at Aspen Dental after leaving a dentist in Griswold due to coverage changes and they said I had $12K of work to be done with cracked teeth that didn't show on xrays (later found out upon returning to Griswold Dentist). They did the first crown at Aspen and I had unexplainable trauma as I started to cry and felt a panic attack. I also had wisdom teeth out when I was 20 and they gave me a shot of novocaine to the roof of my pallet that I almost passed out as I suffer from sensory issues. Later, I found out later this is one of the main reasons women have trauma in a chair from sexual trauma and I was molested and raped when I was younger. So, I knew I needed to have potential laughing gas (nitrous oxide) and wanted a dentist that is emphatic and understood the situation. Dr. Tran had Ashley assist in the procedure and she was very nice and understood my needs. I brought earbuds and listened to music so I didn't hear them. Dr. Tran and I talked before about the complexities of my issues and she was so sympathetic and touched by what I shared - not making me feel bad for having hangups about my needs. During the procedure, she explained everything but I didn't want to know and said to just do it. She did not have to give me a shot to the roof of my mouth, nor did I need nitrous. I needed trust in knowing I was safe. I had a major abscess in that tooth and it's been 1 week out and I am thrilled to say I feel great. I would drive for hours to see her if needed. She's an incredible person....and an expert in her field. I can't say enough good things about this office. I have a child with sensory issues and know Parents are always looking for experts in field who can work with those that are sensitive - she and their office would be the ones that fit this need. Returning to the Brooklyn practice this week for the first time, I was shocked to be told that it appeared I'd been neglecting dental hygiene. In fact, I had a cleaning at Hampton Bays Dental Associates two months ago. Those cleanings were apparently ineptly done. In addition, I was given an estimate of $5,000 and told that the recommended work was necessary to my dental health. X-rays in Brooklyn this week indicated that none of the recommended work is indicated. Lastly, Dr. Sheren, the owner of the Hampton Bays practice, referred me to an oral surgeon to rule out tongue cancer. Fortunately, my Brooklyn dentist, after thoroughly examining my tongue, indicated that there was absolutely nothing on my tongue. He was puzzled that I was given such a referral.
