Returning to the Brooklyn practice this week for the first time, I was shocked to be told that it appeared I'd been neglecting dental hygiene. In fact, I had a cleaning at Hampton Bays Dental Associates two months ago. Those cleanings were apparently ineptly done. In addition, I was given an estimate of $5,000 and told that the recommended work was necessary to my dental health. X-rays in Brooklyn this week indicated that none of the recommended work is indicated. Lastly, Dr. Sheren, the owner of the Hampton Bays practice, referred me to an oral surgeon to rule out tongue cancer. Fortunately, my Brooklyn dentist, after thoroughly examining my tongue, indicated that there was absolutely nothing on my tongue. He was puzzled that I was given such a referral.

I was given 7 injections of Novocain and was still in pain and when I told him he said "Good means your alive" He injected a bleach chlorine solution in my tooth that I could taste for weeks making me want to puke and he heated up his instrument with a flame I'm assuming to melt the filaments he was placing in my tooth and stuck the hot metal hook into my tooth not once but on numerous occasions. Antiquated practices and a lack of empathy. The office is rundown and looks like an office from the year he graduated college- 1975! The light lens was scratched so significantly he couldn't see what he was doing so he removed it. I could go on and on! He was rude and had a disregard for me as a patient. After I paid the remaining balance on my bill he came rushing out to look at the receipt.. huffing and puffing and then threw it down and walked away not even saying bye feel better... guess he wanted to ensure he was getting every penny!! Decided on a 150 mi trip to my long-time dentist for a 2nd opinion, as I received regular checkups and hygiene appointments, wore night guard, etc. After detailed exam, no cracks were found. Still no cracks years later, but the sting of the mis-diagnosis (or outright scam attempt) lingers. Too bad that honesty isn't a cornerstone here. Or is it a lack of technical skill? Either way, not taking a risk to my oral health or my finances at this practice.

I had eye teeth that were chipping and blackened from old fillings showing through. I am a senior, have always taken care of my teeth and hygiene and I blame my need for dental work on age. Teeth wear. I met Dr. Weiler to discuss what could be done to correct my smile. He suggested caps on all 6 teeth including my 2 front teeth so they would be matched in appearance and color. I chose to keep my 2 front teeth intact and cap the teeth on either side without root canal as we discussed it was not necessary. Dr. Weiler made me feel very comfortable in our conversation and genuinely interested in my thoughts. The suggestion of 6 instead of 4 is why I did not rate 5 star. Don't be afraid to speak up. We also discussed cost and arranged I would pay what my dental plan stated as full payment. We proceeded, one tooth corrected, one payment in full. I am so happy with my new smile. Dr. Weiler assured me if tooth is not satisfactory we send it back, which was necessary for one tooth in color variation. He numbed me each time like no other dentist. I could visit his office without breaking into cold sweat as my previous dental experience. Gel, small prick, pause and complete. Caps are made of Titanium, there is no metal in the product. I think he is great and happy to write my review. I was referred by my neighbor. A second neighbor also makes Dr. Weiler her dentist. We wouldn't go anywhere else.

I don't even know where to begin. Everyone was just so nice and respectful, and professional and happy to be at work! The receptionists were just lovely. The woman (I forget her name and job title, regrettably) who did my cleaning and X-rays was just a saint!! She went out of her way to calm me down and make me feel comfortable, gave helpful and encouraging advice, and just showed genuine compassion and understanding. The best part was the cleaning itself. Literally every single time I have told new dentists I have sensitive teeth. Still every single time the cleanings were downright torturous. But not here!!! I told her I had sensitive teeth, so she went out of her way to make sure it wouldn't hurt! I didn't feel a thing, except that awesome clean feeling afterward. It's been a few weeks now but I still just cannot get over how amazing the experience here was. Now I FINALLY have a dentist I can make my own permanently.

I must say that is has been the EASIEST and most COMFORTABLE experience I've had with a dentist in my entire life! The whole process went smoothly. The office staff is amazing, they really try to work with you on appointments and getting you in ASAP when you really need it. They really do care for their patients and are gentle. I am not a fan of the chapstick however. But their stress balls, top notch. Their dental rooms are quite comfortable, love the fact that they make you as comfortable as can be with blankets and your choice of tv to watch. They let you rest after surgery for as long as you need to. They don't rush you. They provide you complimentary drinks (even if you can't have them, they're there for your rides to enjoy). The lack of organization and follow-through is extremely frustrating and unprofessional. All I want is for my full records to be sent to my new provider without further delay. I hope the office addresses these serious communication and record-handling issues so other patients don't go through the same situation. I've been coming here since Dr. Fox was with the practice, and over time, I've seen the office's professionalism and atmosphere steadily decline. Very disappointed here.
