Returning to the Brooklyn practice this week for the first time, I was shocked to be told that it appeared I'd been neglecting dental hygiene. In fact, I had a cleaning at Hampton Bays Dental Associates two months ago. Those cleanings were apparently ineptly done. In addition, I was given an estimate of $5,000 and told that the recommended work was necessary to my dental health. X-rays in Brooklyn this week indicated that none of the recommended work is indicated. Lastly, Dr. Sheren, the owner of the Hampton Bays practice, referred me to an oral surgeon to rule out tongue cancer. Fortunately, my Brooklyn dentist, after thoroughly examining my tongue, indicated that there was absolutely nothing on my tongue. He was puzzled that I was given such a referral.

By of an apology, he said, "I'm sorry if there was a misunderstanding," Whats more, the crown was also rather unattractive: overly thick, angled incorrectly and not the right color. It also protrudes outside the line of my other teeth when the natural tooth was straight and looked fine. Dr. Caruso refunded the $300 deposit I'd paid to get the crown and offered to make it right by doing the correct tooth at no extra cost. However I've lost confidence in his work and went to another dentist. Now I have to spend an extra $1,500 to have the wrong crown redone by another dentist as well as another $1,500 to get a crown on the right tooth. I'm very disappointed by this and won't be returning to him.

He has become our family dentist and orthodontist and I have recommended him to friends many times. He is very knowledgeable, lectures around the world and has state-of-the-art equipment. He treats his patients like family. His daughter is also an excellent dentist and his wife an excellent hygienist. I was assured it would be comfortable, pain free and so it was. Full mouth LANAP was done in an hour and change. Three little very bearable pinches on the surface of the gums for anesthesia (which was one of my main fears from '04), no sweat. Dr. Lerhman made sure I was cool calm ans collected the entire time. Explained what he was doing step by step throughout the procedure. Just from LANAP, within three months, my teeth have shifted closer together and my overall health has gotten better. My gums are as healthy as can be, mouth is clean, teeth stains from tobacco tea and coffee are gone! 16 years of unhealthy periodontal disease reset in an hour. At first I made the appointment for the following Wednesday, but as the weekend progressed, I knew I needed to be seen sooner, if it was possible. On Monday morning at 8:15, I called the office # and was surprised that Dr. Nevins, himself, had answered the phone (sounded like he was in his car.) He told me to come in at noon that same day. After my consultation with him, he told me he could do the first part of the procedure that same day at 3pm. Since I work in Southampton, it was easy enough for me to go back to work for a few hours and then return to have the work done. Dr. Nevins and his staff are all so sweet, gentle and caring.
