We had an incredibly disappointing and frustrating experience at this practice. The physician remained largely inaccessible, hiding behind office staff until the very end of the process. Overall, our experience was riddled with incompetence, unprofessionalism, unethical behavior, and deception. My daughter had braces placed here and remained under their care for about 5-6 months before we moved out of the area. Below is a summary of the major issues we encountered -- both during treatment and while transferring to a new orthodontist. 1. Constantly Broken Brackets Almost every visit involved repairing broken brackets -- something we never experienced with our two older children who completed orthodontic treatment elsewhere. The staff repeatedly blamed my daughter, claiming she was eating "hard foods," even when the bracket broke after biting into something as soft as a French fry. Having to return after nearly every routine appointment for broken brackets is highly unusual and concerning. 2. Obstacles in Transferring Records When we requested treatment records after moving, we were told we had to come in person to sign a release -- despite living over 60 miles away. This is not compliant with HIPAA, which requires practices to release records upon a patient's written request without unnecessary barriers. The delay in transferring records to our new orthodontist caused a significant treatment gap, leaving my daughter with broken brackets for an extended period. It took multiple follow-up calls before anything was finally sent. This behavior was both unethical and unprofessional. 3. Extremely Limited Orthodontist Availability The orthodontist was only available Tuesday through Thursday with limited hours. Emergencies or urgent concerns outside those times were left unaddressed. For a medical practice handling active orthodontic cases, this lack of accessibility is unacceptable. 4. Dishonest and Inconsistent Refund Process When we moved, we were told we'd receive only 50% of what we paid -- despite my daughter having completed only 5-6 months out of a 30-month treatment plan. Even their office manager, Daniela, admitted that the fair and standard approach would be a prorated refund of about 80%, but could not justify why the office offered only 50%. They also tried to change the documented treatment time from 30 months to 24 months, reducing our rightful refund. Additionally, although we paid $6,100 out of pocket, the practice also billed our insurance, which wasn't factored into the refund discussion. The entire situation was handled with dishonesty and questionable ethics. 5. Unprofessional Conduct by the Physician After weeks of back-and-forth with staff, the physician finally joined a call -- only to speak in a rude and unprofessional manner. By that point, I had dealt with their team nearly ten times and had lost confidence in the integrity of the practice. Given the repeated mismanagement and lack of accountability, I requested a full refund, which I have yet to receive. Final Thoughts This practice appears to care more about money than patients. Our experience reflects a lack of professionalism, poor patient care standards, and questionable ethics. I would strongly advise families to look elsewhere for orthodontic care.

When he was younger he went to the ER a lot, and had more doctor appointments than I want to remember; so he always associated doctor with traumatizing needles. Everything was easy, from booking an appointment to filling out paperwork (on an iPad). Once we stepped into the office, it was bright and everyone was pretty cheerful, very kid friendly. There's also a chalkboard by the door that writes the name of first time patients to welcome them! The dental hygienist and dentist explained everything pretty well and answered any questions I had. They used a stuffed animal to explain to my son how tooth brushing and flossing works and what they would be doing when they checked his teeth out so he wouldn't be too scared. A nice thing about a high tech dental office is TVs on the ceiling as a distraction for the kids.

I began treatment with a different orthodontist in the winter of 2019. As my treatment progressed, I was starting to feel as though the other orthodontist wasn't getting me the result I wanted, and during the time I formed a trusting relationship with Dr. Lisann. I knew the kind of work Dr. Lisann did, and how she treated her patients, and I decided I must switch to her to get the personalized patient experience I needed. Boy did that decision pay off!! I started with Beacon Orthodontic Associates in September 2020, and thought I would need 12-18 months to correct the issues I had. Here we are today, May 2021, and I am already done! Dr. Lisann is a wizard with the Invisalign treatment planning, as well as the artistic touches to the contours of my teeth, and I am incredibly happy with my new smile! The experience I had coming into the office with Becky, Dr. Lisann, and others, especially during a pandemic, made me feel safe, comfortable, and known. I cannot recommend Dr. Lisann highly enough!

Did not feel welcome here…read more I took my daughter for an initial orthodontic consult on March 31st. The initial woman who came in to take my daughter in (who is 9 and was a little nervous) barked at her to use hand sanitizer and when I asked if I should come in with her, said abruptly to me, "No!"  I was a bit off put by this but thought it must be a one-off thing. I had a question and spoke to the woman at the front desk. Not only did she not listen to me, she kept interrupting me, raising her voice and misunderstanding what I was asking. Her tone was condescending and rude. This did not bode well, especially if we had to come to this office repeatedly for orthodontic appts. We then went into see Dr. Lisann. She at least was professional, though she did not have a warm and friendly manner with us either.  At this point I was pretty upset and wanted to get out of there--I forgot that we had to go back to the desk to pay for the appt and as we were leaving the front desk woman said, "EXCUSE ME, YOU HAVE TO PAY!!" I was totally taken aback. I am someone who is very conscientious about all payments--it was just that I was upset. The kids kept repeating what she said all the way home. I was very upset after that consult.  I have never been treated in such a rude and unprofessional manner as I was at Beacon Orthodontic. Given her stellar reviews for the most part, I had expected to use Dr. Lisann  for not only my daughter, but also my other daughter and myself as well.  Unfortunately she just lost 3 potential  patients. Unless she works with her staff to make a more welcoming atmosphere, I expect we won't be the only ones.

The procedure was successful, but her expertise shines both in her work and in her advice, during which her knowledge is clear and pronounced. Additionally, her and her team are a pleasure to be around. We also had a complicated billing issue with insurance and they spent a lot of time getting it right. I was told I could be helped at a reasonable cost, but I ended up being charged around $1,800 for two molar fillings. The pricing was not clearly explained upfront. When I expressed concern about the cost, the response I received felt dismissive and unprofessional, implying that I should be able to afford it rather than addressing my concerns or explaining the charges. I recently checked and confirmed that the same main dentist is still practicing there. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this office, especially if you value transparency and clear communication about pricing.

When I reached the office's voicemail at 16:50 on a Friday, I left a message requesting a return call. Since the following Monday was a holiday, I didn't expect to hear back until Tuesday. When I didn't, I called and reached a young woman who asked me if I was hoping to make the appointment for myself. Dr. Hanna only treats children, she informed me. However, MassHealth's dental directory search data lists him as a general dentist who works with patients aged 18 to 65. In my experience, dentists who treat adults also see pediatric patients, with the only exception to this being children who need to be sedated during treatment. She made no mention of having received a voicemail from me that she hadn't gotten around to replying to. I made sure to tell her to have MassHealth correct its directory data. The receptionist's Spanish accent and use of "aks" instead of "ask" made it seem like she might be an imposter, part of a group who stalk and harass me, preventing me from getting medical and dental care, being treated fairly in job interviews, etc. They intercept my calls to businesses and have their overly-regionally-dialected or unusually-surly people give incorrect information to ensure that I can't get whatever service I'm in need of. If you know who they are, please let me know. But, you may also want to avoid Dr. Hanna because his office staff doesn't return calls from prospective patients, and he may only perform pediatric dentistry. Also, a Yelp ad for a Dorchester office location he supposedly practices from was missing a comma that should have been placed after the D.D.S. suffix.
