Maischips mit Guacamole und Bohnenpaste (groß) sowie zwei Jarritos
    Günter H.

Great tacos! I can definitely recommend the Alambre tacos with beef. However, I wouldn't order the corn chips with guacamole again. I found the guac a bit too bland. At Friday 7pm, there was a queue. But it didn't room too long. The tacos are worth the wait. You can pay by card for bills of at least 15€.

The tacos are really delicious, they could have more diversity, also when it comes to veggie options. There was only one available, with sweet potatoes. The meat was good quality and also the veggies. I found it way to expensive for what they offer but way better than any other places with the same theme. Cash only is also not an option in Berlin nowadays.

    Steak burrito!

Pretty underwhelming burrito that only had steak and beans, garnished with a bit of chopped onions on the top. The burrito was huge and I think they expect you to eat it with a knife and fork because it was not wrapped at the ends. The meat had a decent flavor too it, but the refried beans made it taste like those microwavable burritos from the supermarket. If this burrito had more balance simply by adding Spanish rice and onions/cilantro, it would be amazing! Such a missed opportunity, but I might be back to try the chilaquiles or huevos rancheros.

Didn't look like much from the outside but was recommended to come here by friends. Menu was not too big, which made it easier to choose. Also there was not much seating in the place, mainly just bar stool style. I wanted something vegetarian so I got the quesadilla de queso & my friend got chilaquiles. We both ordered blended margaritas which were super tasty and quite cheap. Our food came really fast and both meals were delicious and fair portion size. Will definitely go back to try again:)

I went to Maria Bonita for a late lunch today, and it might have been the unusual warm weather making me cranky, loosing my appetite.. but I found Maria Bonita to be much overrated. I had the vegetarian quesadilla and it was just.. blah! Too much cheese for one, and it just didn't taste good really. I had trouble finishing it off. I was however also eying the fish tacos, and based on other people's reviews I think I will give this tiny Mexican joint another go in order to try those.. hopefully I can update my review with a better rating then. (update: i went back for the fish tacos, and although they were much fresher.. the fish was deep fried and tasteless.. and it's still two stars from me..)

Epic carnitas. Crispy, succulent pork with fresh salsas and tasty tortillas. Sadly, the fish tacos aren't quite as good. It's not that they aren't also delicious - they are - but you only get two tacos with the saddest finger-sized piece of fish each. For € 6, you should get 2-3x the amount of fish. As it is, they're mostly lettuce. Aside from that, this place gets top marks. The frozen margaritas, while a bit pricey, are also outstanding. Fair warning - the chipotle cream on the fish tacos is proper spicy. If you're not used to a little heat, I wouldn't recommend getting them.

Poorly presented chips with what they call guacamole and crappy beans
    Andreas S.

NEVER AGAIN. This is how the chips that i ordered came. They were totally soggy, beans tasted like crap and guacamole was super watery. There is this bold guy that was really rude all the time and didn't respect the customers. Seriously not mexican at all.

Lovely mexican food in Prenzlauer Berg. Really authentic and reminded me a lot of my travels in Mexico and Central America! A lot of flavour and a great margharita!! Perfect hangover-munchies place! It is also quite cheap - which is just a bonus for me. Lots of flavor. REMEMBER to get the two different hot sauces that are placed on the kitchen counter right next to where you pay!! It's free, so just go crazy.. The habanero sauce is really KICKING! :-D - there is a couple of chairs inside(I think there is room for app. 7-8 people) and there are some tables and chairs outside in the summer. note: there is no toilet.

After eating here today, I feel like I've been reunited with a long lost lover. I'm being totally serious! After movng from California to London last year I feel like it's been a terribly long time since I've had authentic Mexican street-style food especially "real" tacos: tasty little mounds of grilled meat, piled on small fresh homemade corn tortillas. The carnitas tacos are especially good. They also have a beef taco which has crispy pieces of bacon mixed up in it - Oh hells yea!! The quesadillas are made with homemade, fresh flour tortillas and an interesting mix of melty cheese and I think some goats cheese for a little kick. The place is really small, just a couple benches outside and some counter style seating inside for maybe 10-12 people. If you can't get a seat, just get your food to-go - it is 'street food' after all :) Due to the success of this place, the owners have a couple other restaurants: Santa Maria is larger and focuses on street-style food and the other sister restaurant named Maria Peligro has a bit of a hipster vibe and a bit more polished presentation. Have not checked these places out yet, but will do so soon and report back.

The carnitas and chicken tacos. Yummy little morsels!

This minimalist hole in the wall was the perfect spot to satisfy my American hunger for good Mexican food halfway around the world. My wife and I ordered the tacos - chicken and carnitas. While not the best tacos we've ever had, they were definitely good and satisfying! The carnitas were juicy and mild - almost bland, while the pulled chicken was spiced up a bit and hinted of BBQ. It is a bit pricier than street food at €2 per small taco, but still not bad. Limited seating and no bathroom made this a nice quick stop on our tour of Prenzlauer Berg. There's a ton of food in the area, but I doubt you'd find better Mexican!

As Californian, Mexican food is a craving I have been having here in Berlin and good Mexican food is hard to find (Que Pasa doesn't do it justice). On Cinco de Mayo, my friend told me that someone had told him about a good Mexican place right in Prenzlauer Berg so we went to check it out. Maria Bonita is small, cutely and colorfully decorated and a great place to grab a bite with a friend - as long as you don't mind waiting a little bit. We got Margaritas which were amazing and potent, chips and guac and tacos. The chips were good and the guac was good although I felt like it could have had a little more spice to it. The amount they give though is nice for the price you pay! Ample amount of guac! The tacos were massive and tasty. The chicken was plain and definitely could have used some greens on it, but it was still good. The carne asada though with melted cheese was amazing and made me wish I had ordered it for myself (I only had a few bites of the tacos). They also have Corona's with lime which is nice although it costs EU3 which is a bit more than buying one at a Spätkauf. Overall, the experience was great and I only wish they had a bit faster service and more tables to sit outside! Definitely recommend to any Mexican food lovers in Berlin!

Usually, especially Before Chipotle, local takes were fun & often strange - like the gouda & curried chicken burrito in Holland, 1996. But the Germans ... they don't mess around. 2018 I was astonished accidently finding "SF Burrito Company" in Köln. My brain blew a fuse. And the burritos were absolutely outstanding in every possible way. Went there dozens or times. Took my first born there, who was raised on Bay Area burritos. Wow! Then I learned SF taquerias were all over Deutschland. Maybe I should relocate ... Sadly, SF Burrito Co in Köln did not survive Covid. But cologne has other taquerias making magnificent burritos (to be reviewed later). I'd spotted Berlin's Dolores on previous trips but had not tried for a variety of reasons. Enter 2024 and in town with my youngest son (also raised on burritos). I was so excited to try Dolores. But truly saddened by the food experience. I grade burritos on a local curve. And by German standard, Dolores gets 3 stars max. It's basically blander than Chipotle. I'm so let down by the experience, I can't even describe it. I'll start either the Quesadilla as my burrito PTSD is just too strong to reflect on it. The chicken quesadilla was awful. Chicken and tortilla texture felt as if they were both prepared in a microwave. Rubbery chicken that was extremely dry inside. Zero crispness to the tortilla. Next to no cheese. And way too much cilantro on the chicken. And a side of mushy pico de gallo. I'm almost crying in shame reflecting on what a quesadilla from the Mission is compared to this. Ugh. The burrito. Got their house Pork special. Said it was Carnitas. For some reason, it took over 15 minutes to get to us - not a problem but bizarre as they had a burrito assembly line running. Anyway, it was very flabby in construction. No tension in the tortilla to hold it together. And the tortilla was mushy. Not properly steamed or crisped on the grill. The pork was very nice. A highly spiced pulled pork. Definitely not anything like carnitas. I do not believe it was fried or braised. A very low proportion of meat to rice. And the rice ... way too much Cilantro. Texture OK. But soapy cilantro from the rice practically overpowered the pork. Beans - refried which was a nice surprise. They were pretty OK . No cheese. A tiny amount of sour cream. Had a hot salsa in it. But was hardly noticeable and not even hot. Basically, a burrito that was a so-so copy of Qdoba or Chipotle. So sad. So very sad. The dining experience - the place was packed on a beautiful Saturday. A Line spilling out to the street. Nowhere to sit inside or outside. It was wonderful seeing so many couples and families enjoy an SF burrito experience ... I am thankful or this.

As I was getting up after finishing my meal the first time I went there, she also barked at me, "Hey you, clean your dishes!!" to let me know that I should collect my dishes and deposit them by the bar where you order. I remember feeling confused and wondering what I had done to earn her scorn. I also watched her chew people out who had a snippy tone when they placed their orders. She was at times a drill sergeant of a waitress.... but by being a relaxed and friendly person, it was not hard to earn her trust and land on her good side. And it was worth it to do so because she made the best damn margaritas in Kreuzberg. About six months ago she moved to Madrid I believe and sadly Ta Cabron hasn't been quite the same since. The enchiladas verdes are still fine but somehow different, The chicken seems different, something subtle has changed, and just isn't what it used to be. And don't get me started on the margaritas... they still serve them, and they are fine, but they are just plain old margaritas now. They don't have that magic. That pizzazz. These days, I don't really visit Ta Cabron much. Only once in a while to see if things might have turned around. I remember fondly now though how it was towards the end. She'd spot me and give me a smile and I'd get to the head of the line and she'd chat a little -- as the bustling throng of hungry patrons waited eagerly behind me in line, desperate to place their order -- and she would ask me how my day was. If people got too impatient or fidgety while she was telling me about what was new with her she'd bark a firm command at them them to chill - and then, light a light switch - finish whatever she was saying to me in a friendly tone. She was sort of Basil Fawlty meets the Soup Nazi, but with the frame and accent of a fiery Latina. I miss her.

And if the döner joints on every corner didn't tip me off, the fact that the burrito I got at Taquería Ta'Cabrón looked more like a döner or some sad wrap with a dollop of salsa on it definitely did. Maybe the quesadillas or margaritas are passable, but my burrito was so pathetically wrapped that I've sworn off a return visit. In other words, everyone knows that a burrito's ingredients should at least be completely enclosed inside the tortilla... or whatever inauthentic tortilla substitute you end up using. C'mon, Ta'Cabrón. No partial credit. Because of the poor construction, the ingredients were poorly distributed throughout the entire burrito and each bite was a bland surprise. At €7.20, it's a bit pricier than a burrito at Dolores, but I'd go to Dolores over Ta'Cabrón any day.

Portions are generous for the price, and our meal of nachos with cheese, sour cream and guacamole followed by a burrito and two burgers, with a beer each, and s tip came to just under €50 for three. All the food was freshly cooked and tasty. Service was very friendly and helpful and a kitchen error with our order was picked up and sorted without us having to point it out. The main problem was the speed of the kitchen - or rather, the lack of it. We were served reasonably quickly, but as soon as it got busy, other tables had to wait longer, and one couple gave up after 40 minutes.
