This was my second time at Ta'Cabron and it won't be the last. Honestly, I don't see any reason to try another Mexican restaurant in Berlin on my short visits, because I know this one is will be great every time. We had the Cochinita pibil tacos, the fried shrimp tacos and the guacamole this time. Slam dunk! I had the mole tacos last time and they were also amazing. Best part? They serve Dos XX (the lager kind)! I noticed a few people complaining about prices, but considering I live in Munich they seem pretty cheap to me! There is nothing left to say except: EAT HERE!

Quesadillas de Cochinita Pibil and Nachos

I got the "Quesadillas de Cochinita Pibil" and the Nachos. Unfortunately, they didn't have a free spot so I had to take it home and of course, they were completely cold when I arrived. But I have to say that even re-warmed up, everything was pretty good, although I really look forward to taste it fresh made. Anyway, somehow I don't get the completely taste of Mexico, something is missing but I couldn't tell what and I must add that the Nachos tasted like if the came out of a bag from the supermarket.. The Quesadilla was really good and really well filled, and surprisingly the beans were also really tasty. All together costed 12€. Next time I'll get the Tacos and another Entrée to know exactly what I think about this place.

Easily the MOST AUTHENTIC Mexican food in Berlin. Anyone who has lived in or visited Berlin long enough has searched high and low for even *decent* Mexican food and probably come up short other than Santa Maria or Dolores where you can expect extreme amounts of people and not a ton of flavor. Fortunately there's this little spot! I stumbled on Ta'Cabrón while my friend, visiting from Argentina, and I were searching for dinner options. As soon as I read the name I knew it'd be more authentic than any generic place like Del Taco or Mas y Mas. I was not disappointed! First sighting at the bar/counter was El Jimador, one of my favorite tequilas. Then I began to browse the menu and found my favorite food when I was living in Guadalajara, Flautas de Papa! This place is also nice to go to because you can order in Spanish, German or English. They understand what 'vegan' means and I highly recommend either the veggie tacos or the flautas de papa. Just ask for them vegan (subtract cheese and cream). The only downsides to this place are kind of high prices for the Berlin eating out scale and I've had a couple times where they've completely forgotten my drink order which is frustrating. Otherwise the service is always super friendly and music is amusing. A must do in Berlin!

Ok, as a SoCal expat in Berlin, I live in perpetual pursuit of quality Mexican Food, which is an exercise in futility throughout most of Europe. That being said, I received a tip about this new "Taqueria" which opened up in Kreuzberg, called Ta Cabrón, & based on the name alone, i had to try it oot. Here's the verdict: 3 tacos = 3EUR... choose the marinated pork over the ground beef, or choice of 2 different soya versions for the veterenarians, or the chicken Mole for the sweet toothed. Excellent guacamole & pico de gallo on truly homemade corn tortilla chips. I like that they have a quasi salsa-bar, that is, at least two bowls of homemade salsa, help-yourself style... The tomatillo sauce is spot-on! Corona y lima, Bohemia Cerveza for beers, cozy atmosphere and open kitchen where you can see what happens. Another important point is the authentic refried beans-- probably the best i've sampled in this city-- come with the taco & quesadilla plates. Suffice it to say that i'll be going there twice a week till i've had a chance to try all their dishes. Next week, fish tacos(!), tamales, burritos. It's nice to finally have a choice of top-shelf Mexi in Berlin. Bravo, amigos! *Corrections for the admin: the name is "Taqueria Ta'Cabrón" address: Skalitzerstr. 60 Opening time is 13:00, not 12:00

The peeps were friendly in their own way. Took a little bit of time but eventually they seemed to warm to me. One huge biker dude took a shine to me and kept joking with me all night in broken English. At the end of his night (which was quite early) he swooped in and gave me a kiss on the cheek and wished me a lovely vacation. The bathrooms were cleaner and nicer than the cobalt/funkys/astoria from my dives back home in Vancouver - seriously Vancouver, get your shit together - LITERALLY. Drink prices seemed super reasonable to me. But really anywhere in Europe they seem reasonable to me. Bartender didn't really know how to make a whiskey sour and what I ended up drinking wasn't that fantastic, but I think that's my fault, what the hell was I doing ordering a whiskey sour at this place? Beer seems to be the best bet. The place filled up quick and seemed very popular with the locals and tourists alike.

One final tip - make sure to go next door and eat at Tiki Heart.

Lerchen+Eulen is one of these places. it's been one of my go-to spots in this neighborhood for years and i don't see that changing. Svenja's review is right on: there are plenty of bars like this around Berlin --cozy secondhand furniture jumbled together like a bad Tetris game, warm low lighting, great coffee+alcohol-- but the specific details set it apart. the staff are amazingly friendly (seriously, i wonder where they find these saints!), their cakes are always delicious and the perfect balance to their coffee, and you can get whatever kind of seat your little heart desires: curling-up-with-book benchseats in the big windows, working-with-laptop table seats, barstools for hanging with the bartenders, cuddling-sofas, and outdoor tables in summer for people-watching. it's a great spot for most times: earlier in the day, it's mellower and emptier (and less like a smokehouse), so is nice for working or catching up with friends. the wooden-tiled floors (very cool!) and brick archways, the old jazz and blues on the stereo, the old chairs and wooden tables decorated with fresh flowers and candles in big jars, make the space feel somehow a bit like a country inn during the day, a perfect pause from the bustle of the Markthalle next door. when Lerchen+Eulen fills with people at night, the dense layout and multiple rooms make for a wonderful coziness for huddling together...and Drinking (with a capital 'D'). Svenja's right, their Moscow Mules hold their own, but they're also one of the few bars in the area to serve the delicious local Potsdamer Stange beer from the Braumanufaktur. all in all, a perfect addition to your full weekend ritual on Pücklerstrasse: stop by the Pony Hütchen for second-hand gear+furniture, then the Markthalle Neun for groceries+lunch, then to Lerchen+Eulen for all your caffeinated and alcoholic needs...
