If you're looking for a spot to have some quality Mexican while in Queenstown, this is definitely a good choice. Coming from a Texas resident where Mexican food is very common and done well it's always a hit or miss experience when traveling. Margo's was definitely a hit!
The restaurant had a very nice atmosphere with a mix of indoor and outdoor seating, and luckily the weather was nice enough to be able to enjoy eating outside.
After looking at some pictures of the food others had posted, I had an idea of what I had wanted to get already but sadly those plans were cut short because I guess they updated the menu where the fried chicken taco was removed and there was no longer any dishes with duck which was a shame. Nonetheless, decided on some different items on the menu.
Started off with some chips and guacamole that was nicely flavored, and the pairing of pickled onions was a very nice touch.
Next I had a the fish taco and I wasn't really a fan of this one. The fish was definitely on the fishy side sadly, which left me wishing I had chosen a different option in regard to choice of a taco.
I also had the lamb ribs which they kind of seemed to have forgotten or maybe I was just not informed of it needing a bit more time to prepare but most likely the prior because our server had come backed asking if I had already had them and she seemed a bit shocked when I replied I hadn't. That was somewhat unfortunate because my sister had finished her fajitas and probably 10 minutes after just sitting around with nothing on our table did the ribs finally come out. The flavor completely made up for that and the lamb was very tender too. The pairing of the creamy chimichurri was absolutely lovely too.
We finished the meal off with some churros which were delicious too. The only thing that was not too par was that they were not crispy at all. Most churros I've had are usually have a crispy exterior and a nice fluffy interior but these lacked that crisp I love.
Overall the food was great and would definitely recommend the lamb ribs if they're on the menu. Personally would avoid the Baja fish taco and choose a different option since this was the only thing that did not sit too well with me when it came to flavor. read more
