I called Nancy at Brannon Stables and she was amazing. She took some time to understand what I was looking for before I made the drive to try out my first lesson. I arrived and and it was a great fit. She was patient, easy going and very good about correcting me (and understanding this was my first time on a horse). I started 4 weeks ago (from 0 experience) and today I can put the (english or western saddle on), start, trot, canter, turn (and most importantly stop). I highly recommend her.

Entry is about $28 per adult, less for kids, and is valid for two days back-to-back. The park is self guided and offers scheduled events--the one we went to was guided by a horse trainer. The property is absolutely beautiful, and there is so much to see and do that you really could spend an entire day here. One of my favorite things about the park is being able to get up close to so many different horses and learn about the different breeds. The Hall of Champions was especially interesting, and seeing the famous horses and learning about their history was a really cool experience. The International Museum of the Horse is another major highlight. Even if you're not a huge horse expert, there's so much history and information that it's genuinely interesting and educational. There are also other barns, exhibits, demonstrations, sculptures, and attractions throughout the park. The horse presentations and demonstrations really add to the experience because you're not just walking around looking at horses. You actually get to see them in action and learn about their history, breeds, training, and roles. The horse-drawn trolley ride is also a fun way to see more of the massive property. The grounds are beautiful and very well maintained, and the staff we encountered were friendly and knowledgeable. You can tell this is a place where people genuinely care about the horses and about sharing Kentucky's horse history with visitors. There is a fair amount of walking, so comfortable shoes are definitely recommended, but that's part of what makes the experience so enjoyable. There are so many different areas to explore that it never really feels like you're just doing the same thing over and over. Whether you're a serious horse lover or just looking for something different to do around Lexington, I would highly recommend the Kentucky Horse Park. It's a great way to experience a big part of what makes Kentucky special. Beautiful grounds, amazing horses, fascinating history, great exhibits, and plenty to see and do.

What a great day at Whispering woods. We hadn't rode horses in a while, so we only did the 45 min…read moreride. The weather was beautiful for a ride through the woods led by Dallas. My horses name was Sheriff and he was very gentle. They also have pigs, goats, and miniature horses. We were able to purchase a bag of carrots for $4 to give to our horses as well as the other horses/animals. Thank you to Dallas and Emma for making our day great. They even stopped halfway to take pictures. The horses and animals were well taken care of. The staff was most knowledgeable and seemed to love their jobs.
