Love coming here! I love coming here and being able to grill out and enjoy the nice weather in the spring/summer. Also really enjoy bringing my dogs here for the dog park although it does get pretty crowded during peak times. It is a beautiful well kept park in Lexington.

This park holds a special place for me, literally. In 2008 as part of Reforest the Bluegrass, me and many other Lexingtonians planted hundreds of pine trees. They were just seedlings then, but now they are huge, beautiful trees, all meticulously planted in rows. If you drive around, you can spot the area for sure. In the same area as "my" trees, there is frisby golf. I'm not sure how to play, but you can print out the score sheets online on the parks and rec website. I've been coming to Jacobson since I was a kid, and there is no doubt a lot of stuff for kids to do here. The playground is one of the largest in the area. The paddle boats and the water are a rarity in the central KY area. The paddle boats start back up this week, 4/18. You do have to have a fishing license to legally fish there. There are several annual events, like a children's fishing event and kite fest that I've taken my daughter to a few times. You can rent out one of the sheltered picnic areas for an event or cookout. I've been to several events and cookouts there, but never have I actually reserved it myself. I think you go through Parks and Recreation to do that though. Several shelter areas have volleyball nets beside of them. In the warmer months there is Free Friday Flicks, which not only consists of a different children's movie every week, it's a carnival like atmosphere... without the rides. There is face painting, and sometimes even a petting zoo (the last time that I was there). Website info: Jacobson Park is a 216-acre park located in east Lexington (District 7). The city had been leasing the park from Kentucky-American Water Company for use as a recreational facility since 1968 but took ownership in January 2011. The park includes a reservoir used by the water company and a golf course (Lakeside Golf Course). Amenities: Basketball Court Dog Park Fishing Open play fields Playground Restrooms Shelters (7) Volleyball (4)

The playground at the park is pretty amazing. It's mostly wood, a big change from the majority that are made of plastic. It has two sets of swings, multiple slides and a sand box area. There are lots of towers, bridges, a set of moving stairs, etc. There are ducks and paddle boats, but the boats are only open during the summer. Once you enter the gate, follow the signs to the playground (to the left). Best playground in the area, IMO.

Last week's rains really left a waterline here. #lexky

Jacobson Park is almost a second home to me because I frequent it so often. I used to take my husky there a few times a week to socialize her. Now I run there a few times a week and, when the weather is nice, I take my family there as well. Jacobson Park has something for everyone. You can fish, take your children to the playground, take your dog to the dog park, play disc golf, run, cycle, etc. I have always felt safe at Jacobson Park. The grounds are always clean.

This is a very nice park with a lot of open areas to just hang out in and do your thing. You can run, walk, fish, bike, fly kites, play frisbee golf, photograph the wildlife, play volleyball, cook out, fly your drone, play soccer, kayak, sail boat, , paddle boat, feed the ducks or fish, relax, get some sun, or play in the playground. Just do it before dark as the park closes every night at sundown. The park has many different species of birds including a family of bald eagles. Some are here to stay and some are just passing through. You can see some of the locals out and about hoping to catch the perfect photograph of the day or a lifetime. I've seen some pretty spectacular pics from this location. Come check it out and please take out what you bring in or deposit any trash in the many trash cans provided. Have fun and enjoys this great location!

My absolute favorite park in Lexington. My pup and I frequent the dog park seeing as it is HUGE and there are almost always a multitude of other dogs there to play! There are shelter houses available for parties or cookouts, and the lake is just beautiful.

Good sized park with plenty to do. There's a large play palace for kids, you can also rent paddle boats @ $4.00 for 30 mins. There's lots of trees and picnic tables for shade and family events. a great location to host almost any type of outing.

First time there. Will definitely be back. Paddle boats are only $5 for a half hour for two. There's a dog park, playground, fishing, and picnic shelters you can call & reserve as well. Sits right beside the golf course. Had a blast!

It IS off the beaten path but IS so worth the effort to get to. The drive there is through some of the most beautiful countryside you'll see in Kentucky's scenic Bluegrass region. We were helped by Ben and Lyndsey the owners. Immediately we felt as if we were family -- honestly. They helped select the right watercraft for us and we had a fabulous time. The scenery is amazing and Stoner Creek is truly away from it all. It meanders through agricultural land so it's incredibly quiet and peaceful -- oh, and did I mention beautiful. You've simply GOT to make your way to Fryman's -- a great place to boat, fish, camp, relax and enjoy. Thanks Ben & Lyndsey

That is when I found this hidden gem. I am glad I did. It took a bit of driving to find this place, but was so worth it. I had planned an Unofficial Yelp Event here and just so happened that the weather was perfect. The water was calm and nippy. Such a great day to be out and one with nature. The lauching fee here is $5. You can rent a kayak all day here for $15. How cheap is that? The lady that runs the shop is extremely nice and a good talker. She told me a bit about the history of the place while we waited for my fellow Yelper to show up. Yes that was singular. Only one person showed up for the UYE. It seems alot of people don't like to do physical activity on holidays. LOL Oh well. I loved it. The day was peaceful and relaxing. I think we paddled 5 miles up river and then 5 miles back. It was a perfect day with lots of great scenery. They have an area for a camp ground as well as a store to buy/rent stuff. I am a huge fan of it. If you want to get out into nature and are near here. Stop in. I am sure you will love it. I know I did.

I would highly NOT recommend staying at Still Waters Campground based on my experience with…read moremanagement. Today I rolled through a stop sign in the campground. I understand that was my mistake, and I accepted being told not to do it again. However, what happened afterward was completely unnecessary. Instead of simply speaking with me later at the office or sending a text, management chose to chase me down in a vehicle. I was driving around the campground under the speed limit, yet I was accused of speeding because they claimed they had to drive 30 mph to catch me--even though they had to turn around before following me. What made it even more frustrating was that I was told to "lead by example" while the manager herself admitted to driving around 30 mph in a 10 mph campground just to catch up to me. That felt incredibly hypocritical. What bothered me most was the way the situation was handled. I tried to walk away to avoid escalating the confrontation, but the manager continued arguing with me. She even told me to "go get my boyfriend," as if I couldn't speak for myself. I'm a grown woman and didn't appreciate being dismissed like that. Later, after I had calmed down, my boyfriend and I went to the office so I could apologize for raising my voice and explain my side of the situation. Unfortunately, management wasn't interested in having a productive conversation and came across as condescending and unwilling to listen. It also seems like the rules are enforced inconsistently. We have watched plenty of other people roll through that same stop sign without being stopped or chased down. If safety is truly the concern, the rules should apply EQUALLY to everyone instead of selectively enforcing them. Overall, this experience left a VERY bad impression. A simple warning then walking away could have resolved everything, but instead it turned into an unnecessarily confrontational situation. Customer service and professionalism from management were extremely disappointing.
