Arrived early to my appointment and while completing new patient forms the nice receptionist informed me that they don't take my insurance. She offered me a $59 special for an exam, X-rays and cleaning. I declined because I knew from the pain that it was going to be costly if I paid out of pocket and I wasn't that desperate to fork over hundreds when I have insurance to at least foot a portion of the bill. I was in pain but was still thinking logically, it was torture. I booked this practice because they were listed as accepting new patients on my dental insurances website so I didn't expect to receive that news. I left in pain as the toothache had worsened over the previous days and called my dental insurance company from the parking lot. I was informed the practice at Crosby Family Dental indeed accepts my insurance however the provider (dentist), may no longer accept that insurance or had perhaps left that practice so they are still listed as accepting because they failed to report an update to the insurance company. It may have been human error but I can't excuse the fact that I received a notification an HOUR before my appointment encouraging me to fill out new patient forms electronically in preparation for my appointment. I did find it odd that it was sent so late because had it been sent in advance they would've noted that my insurance was not accepted and could've/should've perhaps contacted me to give me the bad news before I wasted my time. Hopefully their communication improves.

They started out by saying that they didn't have enough time to fill the cavity! But I paid $1,000 that day compared to about $200 if cavity was filled as requested. The hygienist didn't keep water from draining on my face and neck. I did it myself and then she had the nerve to say that I prevented her from doing her job! The nerve!!! The office was freezing. No blanket for a patient. !! Will never go to Crosby Dental again. Terrible experience.

I reflexively jumped and grabbed his hand because of the pain. Instead of checking on me, he started yelling and told me to just raise my hand if it hurt. When I tried to do that, my hand accidentally hit him in the face, which made him even angrier. At this point my mouth was numb and my teeth were already filed down, so I couldn't even speak properly. I became overwhelmed and started crying out of frustration, and he responded by telling me to "calm down," which was incredibly dismissive. After a few minutes, he continued the procedure but was very rough, jerking my mouth and handling me aggressively. I left the appointment red faced, upset, and in tears. Completely unprofessional behavior and zero compassion for a patient in pain. I would never recommend this dentist to anyone.

    My first visit at this facility was great. It was determined that I had 3 cavities during my first…read morevisit and we knocked out the procedure right then and there. Dr. Carrol was amazing! She informed me step by step during my 3 cavity filling procedure and ensured I was comfortable and didn't feel any pain. The procedure didn't take long at all considering I had 3 cavities. Overall, she was excellent. This was a Saturday appointment and the wait time was at a minimum. On my second visit, I was supposed to have a teeth whitening. The solution ended up touching my gums at the top and the bottom of my mouth because the dental assistant did not secure my gums correctly. The treatment needed to be stopped due to this so I did not have my teeth whitened after all and instead I was molded for the whitening trays. I was told it would only take a week for them to be ready and I didn't get a call until like 3 weeks later. Overall, my experience with the whole whitening of my teeth was not pleasant. For my rating, I would give Dr. Carrol a 5 star, while giving my experience with the whitening a 1 star so that's how I came up with my 3 star rating. I plan to go back to see Dr. Carrol though because she was excellent. At this time, I will choose to get my teeth whitening done outside of their facility.

What should've been a simple filling turned into a downward spiral of unnecessary and poorly executed procedures. Not only did they botch the original filling, but they had to repeatedly file my tooth down--so much so that by the time they were done, there was practically nothing left for the crown to hold onto. Unsurprisingly, the crown popped off within six months. With the damage now done and the tooth more compromised than ever, the default suggestion was--what else?--a root canal. Not a thorough discussion of options, not a second look at the real issue, just a straight referral. And wouldn't you know it, the root canal ended up developing an infection, ultimately leaving me with no choice but to have the tooth pulled entirely. This could've all been avoided with better care, better insight, and better priorities. My advice? Skip the conveyor-belt dentistry model and seek out a holistic dental provider--where imaging is more detailed, your concerns are actually discussed, and options beyond the almighty root canal are explored. You deserve better than what this place offers.
