I had a really wonderful facial with Renee at Marek-Ashley Salon last week. Renee was very attentive to my needs and made me feel very comfortable with the experience. The facial was probably the best one that I've ever had. The room is charming, calming, and cool. Well appointed for my needs, even a cute shell jewelry box to store my rings during my facial. The products for the facial smelled great and did a great job of gently cleaning and plumping my skin. The best part was Renee's massage and ability to work my skin in a way that made me look younger and fresher when we were done. At the end of my hour, I felt really relaxed, pampered and rejuvenated. As a mom of 4 kids, i get to the salon maybe once a year. Carli was my stylist and she listened to my low maintenance needs, gray coverage, and a lighter color for summer. I probably could've talked with Carli for hours, she's so easy to talk to, which being an introvert, is VERY hard to find. The price was upfront too, she explained her starting prices and made sure what I booked online was what I needed (it wasn't). I'd suggest calling the salon over booking online, otherwise, I would've walked out of there with a $500 hair job. All of the employees were friendly, I was asked by 3 employees if I needed anything to drink. They all look out for each others clients (BIG difference over my last salon). I went in 9/15 for a full highlight. It states $110 on the booking website that I booked through and in the end I was charged $192. Caught off guard with the price swap and since I had already been there for 3.5 hours, I didn't ask or want to make a scene. The itemized receipt says $35 for glaze, when booking on the website the details it says glaze is included. It also was never disclosed during the service that I would be charged additional for the color bowls either. This is more expensive and DOUBLE the time of a senior stylist the city. I have reached out to this company privately through both their Facebook and instagram. Several messages were read and went unanswered. Going forward, I would not recommend this business, not because of the services I received but the hidden fees of which they are not upfront about prior to services or while in the chair. I have included snapshots of what their booking website reads. It was my naivety, that I believed the cost of glaze which is "required to achieve desired tone" would be included in the service fee. The separate cost is not stated anywhere on their website. Sneaky sneaky I should add that I have no problem paying for a great service and I believed the lower price was due to the extended time needed. Time is valuable when you're a toddler mom. After this my first visit, I can say I will definitely be back. I usually ask myself the question, how easy were my interactions with people in these establishments? Ease of making the appointment? The person on the phone was kind and welcoming. I told them I wanted a bob and they asked me "Do you have short hair?" I said yes. They scheduled me for "short hair" with a barber when I was supposed to be getting scheduled with a bob specialist. And on my first visit I was greeted by Josephine, a barber. Eventually I rescheduled and went back a week later. I am hoping this is not a common occurrence but only time will tell. Ease of explaining what I want? Excellent and easy! Received great service from Dira. I showed her the photo reference attached and she asked all the right questions. She explained the undercut and how it will make sense to include that if we want the shape of the bob. Ease of the environment? I get overstimulated in unknown crowded, loud and bright places that feel fast paced. Obviously, a salon is going to be all three! I was able to zone it out since I felt pretty comfortable with Dira. I appreciated that Dira picked me up from the front lobby, was relatable and was also teaching others how to cut a bob as she cut mine. As a teacher, that was an Aw moment. I love passing knowledge off to others and knowing my hair was being used to teach others. Aw. Other than that blip in the scheduling, I have nothing to else to add for improvements. I absolutely love this place. Here is why: Lets just say, I have found my forever colorist after moving halfway across the country 5 years ago. I started going to Ashley a little less than 3 years ago for my color. At 1st, I had many concerns due to some hair-loss from a pregnancy. She took the time during my 1st free in-person consultation to hear my concerns and then advised accordingly. She did an amazing job with my color. It was exactly what I wanted. Fast-foward to 2020, I have been only going to Ashley ever since. She is one of the best hair colorist I have met. Not only does she attentively listens to what a customer wants, she makes you feel like comfortable and confident about yourself and your hair. I got my color done last week and went back for a few touch up. She was more than generous with her time and service. Jacob also does an great job with my haircut. In fact, I always get my hair colored by Ashley then cut by Jacob. He is also very attentive to what the client wants, as well as knowing how to customize your cuts that suits your frame and lifestyle. Last but not least, my husband gets his cut by one of the owner and stylist, Marek. He looked absolutely fabulous after getting his haircut after 5 months (due to Covid). He has gotten many compliments on it. The salon itself is always clean and tidy. They have an amazing collection of Oribe hair styling products.The staff is always very professional and courteous. I have been coming to this salon for many years. I have always been a satisfied customer. I went into the salon to get a haircut last Friday and I asked for someone who has experience with dealing with hair extensions and she told me she does. She round brushed my hair after my haircut so I couldn't see it straight and when I finally washed my hair, this is what it looked like. When I called to complain, Ron, the new owner blamed it on my extensions slipping but I told them they are in place as before, also when I asked Ron if you are supposed to cut extensions while the hair is wet or dry and he told me you can cut it either way and the reason I asked because I remember I usually get my hair extension cut while it's dry but this time I got it cut while it's wet. They offered to refund the hair cut but what I wanted is my extensions replaced because now they cut 7 inches off it. Ron told me that since I did not have my extension installed at his salon, he won't cover my extension. The end product is my extension is in the same position minus several inches of length. I wish everyone well but I just want people to be informed and be careful. Lesson learn. read more

I cannot say enough good things about this salon! The inside is super modern and chic from renovations, and they always offer a nice drink to sip on while getting your hair done. I found my ride or die colorist - Jordan Perry- who has beautifully transformed my blonde to a consistent champagne color... I'm in love!! He is so fun to chat with throughout my coloring process and I always look forward to coming in and catching up with him. Before going to Marek Ashley I tried multiple high end salons (like 6 or 7) resulting in disappointment. I have short hair and either my hair was left too long after a cut or so short it looked like I had just been released from a concentration camp. I gave each salon several tries before I moved on. In researching salons via reviews, I found that Marek Ashley had very strong, positive reviews. So I decided to give it a try. I actually went in person to make the initial appointment. The very pleasant and obviously knowledgeable receptionist recommended Josephine telling me Josephine was a short hair expert. Boy, was she ever right! A week later after the first appointment with Josephine, I had the best cut of at least 30 years. I have now been there two additional times and Josephine is amazing. She's explained that a good short hair cut is about the proper shape. So right! Now, when it's time for the next cut, my hair still looks good because of the great shape she's created. She doesn't just cut hair, she's an artist! If you have short hair, I give Josephine the highest recommendation. She's pleasant, kind and amazingly talented!
