The salon has a clean, minimalist atmosphere, and everyone from the stylists to the owner is warm, professional, and welcoming. It's also a teaching salon, which I love. It's inspiring to see the level of care, precision, and learning that goes into each service. I've been seeing Sabrina, a talented student stylist who will be hopefully on her own by the holidays. She's calm, attentive, and thorough and truly takes the time to understand what you're looking for. The prices are very resonance, and the location in downtown wheaton is perfect! I told the receptionist my hair type and that I wanted a stylist that could give me a suggestion and not do a very basic boring cut. Other salons I feel like I've just gotten overcharged for the same look and to get my dead ends cut off. They recommended Coco and she did a great job! Her recommendation wasn't anything crazy but it suited my lifestyle and looked more than just the dead ends cut off. She started off with a consultation, took off some of my length, washed my hair, cut, blow dried and styled. She took out a lot of the weight in my hair that prevented me from wearing it down but kept the length. She added face framing and texture. I could tell she took her time and made sure it was a great cut. She was very friendly and listened to what I wanted. All the employees here seemed great and I like the ambiance! Devin is so warm and friendly, and she did some things to my hair that no other stylist has done and explained to my why she did the things she did. She took her time with me and we really got to know each other on my first sitting! Seeing that she totally knew what she was doing, I scheduled a hair color appointment for the next month. My hair color appointment took 6.5 hours, which is usually normal considering I have thick course black and teal hair trying to go to coral. She seriously gave me all of her attention and even bought me dinner because I was there for so long! In the end, it turned out way better than I could have imagined. The color is so vivid and matched the photo I showed her to a T. She even took some extra time to walk me through how she does the beachy waves because I'm incapable of doing anything stylish with my hair. 10 out of 10 would recommend!

However, when I arrived, I was told that the stylist I was booked with had already gone home, and no one else was available to do my hair. I was given the option to either reschedule or pay the difference for another stylist--which felt incredibly unfair, especially since I had prepaid through Groupon and had taken the day off for this appointment. What made things worse was how frequently Groupon was mentioned in a negative way during the interaction. It was very alarming how openly the staff expressed their dislike for customers who used Groupon, even though the salon is the one offering these deals. It made the experience feel unwelcoming and almost like Groupon customers were being treated as second-class clients. Whether this is a tactic to get people in the door and then upsell them, I don't know--but the lack of professionalism and courtesy was disappointing. A simple heads-up before my appointment would have saved me time and frustration. I would caution others to confirm directly with the salon and be aware of how Groupon customers may be treated.

Most available times seem to be during regular working hours which is hard for those with a 9-5. But would definitely recommend Fringe for a great hair appointment and relaxing spa experience. BONUS! They have fresh baked goods and free infused or sparkling water!
