This place is clean, comfortable, and the employees are nice. Ever since coming here and experiencing the plush reclining seats, my husband and I can't see movies any other way. parking and trying to get out can be a headache in the parking garage next to the theatre. The side streets by the theatre is always jammed packed. From the past three movies I've been here, it normally isn't sold out shows. My most recent was a opening weekend movie on a sat night and it was only halfway sold out. I enjoy this theater. It has made some great strides in their new and improved theater. Right when you walk in you have the opportunity to get your ticket faster and easier on the kiosks. This is such a cool way to find a seat if there is a long line on the side of the entrance. You then walk to the new ordering area. There are gigantic T.V.s displaying the various food options. Yes, it is expensive so I recommend bringing a little snack for a cheaper option. Or you can order the kids meal which is a bit cheaper for a little less. There is also a new bar area that has a lot of seating. This is pretty cool for a movie theater as you can get some legit food and not just the candy and soda. You then walk to your theater. the hallways are the same as always but still very nicely laid out. You walk into your movie with the dream loungers. These chairs are amazing. I love that you actually have a seat that you picked out. The seats are comfortable, they go up and down for complete relaxation.The theaters are always super clean which amazes me as this theater is usually packed. The staff is smiling and welcoming right when you walk in. Overall a great place to see a movie. I never have a bad experience here. For student and faculty they have some great deals for cheap. Who can beat $5 for a movie on a weekday, its awesome! read more

Their security policy regarding large bags are unreasonable and unfriendly. We were rejected at the entrance. We went there by bus and my boyfriend had a messenger bag with him. If you don't allow big bags at least offer luggage storage services like a locker,but there's nothing for people who have big bags. (Unless you just don't like being responsible lol) The manager on site claiming that the policy is on the website but the policy is no where to find. They also claimed that the policy has been going on for 2 weeks, but why you don't consider your customers? Things were fine last year. They are discriminating against people like us. read more

Me and my partner went to see the Avengers End Game. We bought a popcorn and drinks knowing that I have a lot of Marcus rewards points to use. I gave my Marcus rewards card to the employee (sadly he was one of the team leads) and told the employee that I would like to use my reward points for the purchase. The employee came back to me and said that I dont have any points on my card. I replied back and requested him to check it again because there's at least $5 there. He kept saying that I dont have rewards points available. I gave him my marcus rewards card again and asked him to scan it again and all of sudden the bill went down to $0. That means I had way enough points to pay for the bill. The employee looked at me funny..like ooops... he caught me.. which is ridiculous and so dishonest. This is the 2nd time I tried using my rewards and have been denied or misled from not using them by Marcus' employees telling me that I dont have any points on my rewards card. I paid attention to my bill this time and caught the employee trying to mislead me from not using my reward points. I suggest to this company to stand by with your rewards and promotions and don't mislead your loyal customers. We've been coming to this location for so long to watch our favorite movies. I'm extremely unhappy on how I was treated by your own "Lead" employee, not a very good example to "Lead" other employees. I'm strongly having 2nd thoughts of coming to this theatre. The fact that I have a recliner at the movie theater makes me happy. Our tickets were sent to our phone so there was a quick check at the kiosk and there they printed. I loved the fact that the seats were reserved, so we weren't trying to find a place for my family of five, it wasn't crowded as there is plenty of space to walk around footrests. And did I mention again there were recliners? With footrests. Usually at the movies I get achy and the plush seats smell of skin debris and the plush no longer views its original color. These recliners are wide enough to use the arm rest and not bump your neighbor. And when my kid started getting tired she was able to climb into my lap and fall asleep. And her sister fit on it too. Sound system was good, snacks of course expensive, but that's everywhere. I loved this experience and will happily bring my crew back again. read more

This theater is my new favorite in Madison, and my initial negative impression of this theater no longer applies at all. The first time I went to this theater, the sound quality of the movie was muffled and inconsistent. This was almost two years ago. Now, this is my go-to theater. First of all, $5 Tuesday for ANY movie?? In Dreamlounger seats and Ultra Screens? I'm sold. When I bought tickets to watch a movie for $5, I didn't expect amazing seats, free popcorn, and a 4 story tall screen. I was so blown away with how many amenities I received for just $5. Now, I almost set aside most Tuesdays for Marcus Point. I'm so happy this theater is almost walking distance for me. Marcus Point has made movie watching enjoyable and cheap again. I've always found the staff very patient and nice. The drinks are well made and well priced. I can even say the theater food is pretty good and well priced as well! I recently watched a movie in an AMC theater in Chicago, and I was so upset that I had to pay $15 for a ticket (in a theater without lounger seats to boot!). Then I realized that Marcus Point Theater had spoiled me. Overall, I love this theater, and I always miss it when I'm not in Wisconsin. read more

This has been a terrific movie theater since the remodel in 2013. One of the things I appreciate most is that when there is a problem, it is acknowledged & solved. The staff does their very best to keep the the lobby, hallways and theater clean. Obviously this can be difficult when something like the new Star Wars movie comes out and every showing is sold out. I've had my share of sticky seats on some occasions and high foot traffic has been known to turn the carpet dingy . The other thing I like is the rewards program. I've found you can rack up points very quickly if you present your card for tickets, concessions & the Take 5 lounge. Other than being on the far west of town which can be a pain to get to, it's pretty good. read more

When you charge $5 for a water, that is called gouging. Shame on this movie theater. When you make prices like this so outrageous, you make it so lower level income families cannot go out and enjoy a movie. The food here is also very high priced and is very poor quality. We have eaten here at least 7 or 8 times and it is ALWAYS burned or otherwise bad. Today we ate elsewhere before coming to the movie. And we will keep doing that. Never again. read more

Eh, run of the mill theater. Usually clean, friendly enough staff, but there's nothing special about it. Went to a matinee this afternoon, and there was a leak in the roof dripping onto the projector, so we couldn't see the movie we went for. They apologized and offered us tickets for a complimentary soda or popcorn. If you ever get this deal, opt for the popcorn - the popcorn is enough for a decent one-person snack, but the soda is smaller than the kids' size and half ice. Ten tiny sips at best. Still, I appreciate that they tried to make things a little better for a situation that wasn't their wrongdoing. read more

All movies theaters are pretty much the same. This one however has a couple of things that make it stand out. One of these is a bar called Take 5. Here, you can relax before your movie starts and carry your drink into the theater once your movie starts. The drinks are a bit pricier than your regular Madison bars but not by much. They also recently installed reclining seats in their IMAX theatre. They recline almost all the way back. At first it is a bit weird because it feels like you're in someone's bedroom but then the lights go out and you forget all that. Marcus is cool. Great parking and matinee til 3. They also have discounts for teachers and students which is cool. read more

This, I guess, is your basic theater. The average age of an employee is 17, and they don't really care about customer service(this excludes our last concession stand gal, who was nice and not at all zombie-like in her interactions, like the others). One of the recent times we were there, we were having audio issues in the theater even before the movie started, which my boyfriend went out and told someone. During the movie, the surround sound kept coming in and out, which was really distracting...but we could still hear the film, so we didn't leave). After the show, I hunted down the ONE person working who wasn't driven to work by his/her parent, and told her of the issue and she just said "Oh, she was blowing on the sound card to try to fix it...Thanks for letting us know.". That was it. No apology, no offer to give us anything to make up for the inconvenience. What ever. ALSO, what is UP with the quality of movie theater goodies these days? The popcorn is pre-popped and shoved under heat lamps, and our pretzel bites bite back because they're so hard and crusty. This is a general statement about most run of the mill cinemas, so I'm not singling out this one...but still. *Sigh* read more

Point remodelled in fall 2013 and it's a big improvement. Most of the remodelling occurred in the front lobby area and the walkways of the theatre, such as new signage, lighting, and carpeting. There is now a restaurant , Take 5, past the ticket area serving pizza, some casual food, alcohol, and an ENORMOUS tv. The restuarant is past the ticketing area. I'm unsure if they will allow you to go to the restaurant without a ticket. The regular concession stand is expanded a bit and you can still get popcorn and typical movie theatre concessions. As of Fall/Winter 2013, they've been running a lot of great promotions in which you can see movies at a discounted cost as well as some snack coupons. The theatre has also joined the Marcus Theatre Network, in which they bring less well known movies and recorded theatre performances to the theatre for one time showings. The auditoriums haven't changed, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, I find them perfectly fine. The Ultrascreen is bigger, but not a true IMAX wraparound experience. Overall, due to the renovations and promotions, I've been going to this theatre more frequently. read more

Looking at the exterior of Marcus Theater, you would never guess that it's so nice on the inside. I recently went to the AMC Theater out in San Francisco and kept having flashback to that trip when I visited Marcus. Both were very positive. Of course, the highlight are the nice recliner seats. Very spacious and comfortable. You actually have arm room between you and the people sitting next to do. For IMAX, it definitely is an experience to be had. Once you've seen IMAX here, it's hard to go anywhere else. I went to the Eastgate Marcus theater 2 days after my trip to Point Cinema and the experience is night and day. Since I am not a movie buff, I won't go overboard here with my review. I will just say that Marcus Point Cinema is the best movie theater in Madison and I've been to them all. read more

Marcus Point Cinemas, you are looking good these days! Just went to my first movie there in a while, and was delighted to find the tired decor and atmosphere of the complex has been upgraded. New lighting, paint, and flashy screens now adorn the lobby and hallways. The concession stand was relocated and upgraded. They are even adding a restaurant and bar inside the lobby. The theaters got upgrades too. Primarily in the form of new seats that don't feel the sag of a million butts. A $5 weekday matinee isn't bad either. I'm impressed! This is the best movie theater in the area! The staff here is off the chain, and by that, I mean they are hella accommodating! We have been here multiple times and for a couple of different reasons. We've attended trivia and had a great time! The space is perfect and there are decent seating arrangements - from couples to big groups. The trivia hosts have been friendly and engaging. The theater staff are also awesome. Kennedy was so great to us when I accidentally bought tickets to the wrong theater. She gave us an off the record discount out of pity. She was so sweet. She was the one who explained my ticket purchase order error in the first place. Thank you Kennedy!! Jeremy, our friendly bartender, was also an excellent staff-member! He offered us lemons in our waters! He corrected a kitchen error FAST and then let us keep the mistake, offered to box the mistake and then checked on us more than once after he brought the right order out to us. Jeremy has waited on us several times and he's consistently been accommodating and made us feel like he truly enjoys his work. That feels good as the recipient. Honestly, this theater makes you feel like you're supposed to be here and they want to have you back. Thanks for all your hard work! Now we're off to get some popcorn..... Get here!!! read more

Let me start off by saying that I'm very happy this theater is within walking distance of my apartment. I went to go see The Martian at this theater and decided to see it on the UltraScreen with the Dream Lounger seats. It was totally worth the $13 per ticket! The seats were amazing - you have buttons on the side that allow you to recline as little or as much as you want. The screen is amazing as well. The space scenes from the movie were so immersive that it really did feel like I was in the movie. The one area that could be improved at this theater is the arrival experience. I had already purchased my tickets online and was instructed in my email to go to the kiosk at the front of the theater. However, when I arrived there were two lines and I couldn't tell which on to get into. I had to ask around to find which one I was supposed to be in and I was shocked at how long the kiosk line had when I went back outside. It's a very disorganized experience and they could stand to move the kiosks to a different section of the entrance as well as add a few more of them. Despite this, it was great being able to buy alcohol and take it into the theater during the movie. Just be sure to pre-game a bit since drinks are pricey ($6.25 for a gin and tonic). read more

Point theater has become my favorite! I love the recliner seats. They are especially nice after a long day on my feet. Tuesday night bargain prices ($5 bucks a pop) makes movie fun affordable. Point is clean and the staff is friendly. They staff concessions really well so you don't have to wait a long time. The restaurant has yummy pizza. My husband and I went there before a movie and we really enjoyed it. I love when they run old movies. Right now they are running Disney classics and The Shining. read more

Staff went above and beyond the call of service. I didn't catch her name but I think she's a manager... my boy ate too much popcorn and made an unsightly mess on a bench in the hallway. Out of nowhere, she was on the scene right away... as my wife went to the restroom to help clean up my kid, she gave him a new shirt to wear, gave my wife a bag for the dirty clothes, and finished the job of cleaning the carpet near the bench (where I was trying to clean up the piles with napkins)! It felt the SNAFU went back to normal in a matter of seconds. I couldn't believe how quickly the staff was on top of the situation, as we dealt with the trauma of a sick kid and the aftermath of his sickness. I realize management would like to impress their customers with a clean theatre, but I never would have thought they'd be so nice to us while dealing with this dirty situation. read more

Pro: they serve alcohol here. That puts this spot far ahead of most other cinemas playing the majority of blockbusters (ie not the Sundance) Con: The theaters (at least the one we went to) was front-audio only. No surround. Seems trivial, until you realize how used to that immersive experience you are. I mean, you spent $65 on a single ticket, it might as well be a high quality experience. Pro: I kid about the $65. Marcus actually offers reasonable pricing and discount options, like $5 Tuesdays, $5 weekday matinees, and $5 student Thursdays. Con: The auditorium seating wasn't amazing. Not bad, but nothing to brag about. It might be a little unfair to call this a con. Overall, its a great place. If you want a top-notch immersive experience for the next giant big budget "Batman vs Gozilla on a Plane full of Snakes movie", you'd probably do better spending more money elsewhere for the highest quality equipment. But for the vast majority of people and movies this place is great. Its not wallet-emptying and hey, you can have a beer (or a martini) while you watch. Isn't that nice? read more

Love the reclining seats here but the screens where you pick your seats are kind of a bone of contention for me. Seems like every time I pick seats that should be together they end up not being together (love-seat style). Also, I've had many times where people are in our seats and theater is full and they will flat out refuse to move and theatre staff has attempted to correct the seating issue but they wouldn't move. The food at the concessions has become a thing of the past as $18 popcorn is out of my league. Sometimes I've snuck in some treats from jimmy johns haha( not proud ) or candy from Target but sometimes I feel I just need a treat and I belong to the "Magical Movie Rewards" program but even seeing two movies a week takes months to obtain enough points to get a treat at their concessions. This theatre is a bit dated, but I always have a great time catching a movie for a date night or to meet up with my girl friends. On Tuesdays, they offer $5 dollar movies and free popcorn for members - super easy to sign up. As a member you get rewards points and other perks. There's also a bar off to the side that serves delicious adult beverages. Since I'm from Texas, I also have a hard time taking to Pepsi products - first world problem I know - but Marcus point only serves Pepsi products at their self serve beverage stations. read more

This was our first experience at the Marcus Point Cinema and we really enjoyed it. We saw The Martian in the UltraScreen, and the image and sound quality was fantastic. The electronic reclining seats were incredibly comfortable, this was our first time experiencing such a luxury after recently moving to the Madison area from the central Wisconsin area. We were not able to visit the bar or restaurant while we were there, but I think it is awesome that that option is available to us! The concessions had a wide selection of food and beverage items even without the additional restaurant, but I can see how it would be nice to have a drink before or after seeing a movie. Overall we had a wonderful experience and will definitely consider visiting this movie theater again! read more

We live right down the road from Point Cinema so this is our go to movie theater. I love that they re-did all their theaters with the recliner dream loungers. The Take-five bar is kinda cool but expensive. I like that they have lots of different kids specials. They replay classic kids movies or kids movies that are a year or two old. They do this on Sundays or weekdays. They also do something like this in summer. We also enjoy their $5 Tuesdays for all movies but it does get pack so beware. read more

I'm an AMC fan. Why? I have no clue so I was reluctant to switch sides and head over to Marcus Point. What took me so long! Full bar and some theaters with Ultrascreen DLX. What is that you ask? Just a huge screen, leather recliners and moveable arms you can raise to snuggle up with the person you bring. Pretty much everything you can ask for in a movie theater. i wish i could rate them 0 stars. a group of 4 of us came, 2 of us are 16 and two of us are 17. we came in and they asked us for ID. how stupid. if we can drive ourselves here we can watch the dog on movie. there was no online warning(that we read) that you had to be 17. after them being meanies and not letting us in they told us we could get a refund. so anyways then they told us the only way we could get our money back was in the form of a gift card. extremely disappointing. waste of money. unacceptable. need i go on? i would not recommend this movie theatre. read more
