My husband and I enjoyed a fun date night at Double Tap Beercade which is an arcade bar with a…read moresmaller selection of games, themed bar food menu/snacks, and tap beer/cocktails located right on State Street in downtown Madison, Wisconsin, so research parking before going with meter or paid parking. We went on a Saturday night. The crowd was mostly young college students from the nearby university but it is for all ages before 8pm. The atmosphere was a very fun, high energy vibe, with music in the background but still laid back because it is a small arcade bar. I loved the arcade/gaming themed bar and food menu that goes perfectly with the whole atmosphere! They have cheap fun cocktails that come in cute cups like Pac-Man(sweet Sex on the Beach cocktail) and fruity shots like the Fiery Mario and Kitby's Dream Potion. There was a decent selection of tap beers and even mocktails! They have a small menu of bar food like the Donkey King Chicken Strips, Street Fighter Nachos, and a selection of Lorenzo's Pizza. Make sure to check out their website because different days they have different deal specials throughput the week. To play the arcade games you need to purchase a loadable Tap and Play card with denominations of $20, $30, $40, $50, $75 and $100 but beware of the $2 new card fee. To play the games, you tap the machine with your card. It's 35 - 95 taps per play depending on what game you want to play. I thought the pricing was high compared to some of the other nearby arcades since its also a small selection of games. Some of the games you can earn points or rewards called CAPS where more tap points are added on your card to play more games or even claim for food/drinks off the CAPS menu. Double Tap Beercade didn't have a big selection of classic games but they had my favorite game "Street Fighter". They have games a small mix of carnival, pinball, and arcade games such as skee ball, Mario Kart, Pac-Man, and Sink It. I noticed a-lot of dirty food plates, empty drinks not cleaned up from the tables left on tables when people were clearly done. I hope they make an effort to be better about staying on top off of picking up dirty plates, clearing, and cleaning tables as people are done so guests can enjoy available clean tables because it wasn't super busy and there was more than one staff. The Double Tap Beercade has room for improvements but it is definitely a great, small, laid back, fun arcade bar that is fun place to meet up with family, friends, or a date night! The bartenders provided attentive, friendly service! I definitely plan on going back again because it was such a fun atmosphere!

The place is a bar, restaurant and 6 lane bowling alley with all locals. It's funky with the chain door handle and mannequins all over the place. The cheese curd basket was typical bar frozen and nothing special like beer battered so as expected. Overall it's a funky space for drinks and bar food. Service was ok with the green bartender but she did ok with another woman just workin the open kitchen behind the bar.

So he thinks he's clever and calls it a gin Richard, ie d#ck is slang for Richard. Now he thinks he funny and called me Richard the whole time while I was there, basically calling me a d#ck every chance he got. What a Maddison hipster doofus, nice way to treat someone's who first time in the place and the last time.

They've been understaffed on days when it is surprisingly nice and the place is nearly full outside when they open and they only have one bartender, but hopefully with the season change that gets figured out.

Plenty of seating at the bar--along with a lounge'y space with a cute backdrop for photo-ops! I recall four beers on tap, and no drink specials. However, the menu did have a variety of "upscale" bar food! We ordered a fair amount but I only remember eating the curds (3/5) and fried green beans (5/5), which was my fave! PROS: I loved that we were able to try a variety of activities at our own pace! Each area had seating, enough for 6-7 people (sofas or bar stool/counter). Alcohol wipes were available. Music level was good and lighting slightly dimmed--great ambience! We got to chat with Collin (the owner) about his vision and learned that the simulators can pretty much play anything! This means events held here can be both adult AND kid-friendly--woo hoo! Just try not to bring a stroller here, as it's on the second floor with steep steps. Looking forward to more events here...and to what becomes of the outdoor space! CONS: We came on a Tuesday, so there was only one person working the bar + kitchen. Service was a slow as it got busy, and later into the night. There are only two private restrooms (which were nice and clean!). I can see this being a problem, especially for a place that can hold 100+ people. Will be back for more indoor fun!

I've only tried one of the appetizers but I haven't tried the rest of the food. The appetizer my group got was delicious and the drinks are always good as well. The bartenders and servers are wonderful as well. They are alway super helpful and friendly. They do have happy hour and other specials as well so keep an eye out for those. Overall, if they make sure the simulators are working properly and replace the broken equipment, 7 Iron would be a consistent 5/5 experience in my opinion.
