I have mainly visited Union South on football game day's Badger Bash which is much fun. The marching band plays and the Bloody Mary bar is a big plus. There are a number of food options and the large SETT for eating and drinking. I have seen but not used the conference facilities and ballrooms but it looks to be a very nice setup. I know there are many recreational options like a climbing wall but again nothing I have used as an alumni. It is not the Memorial Union with it's iconic Ratskellar and Terrace but it is a great university resource.

The Chazen was a sublime way to spend part of my afternoon and I'm so envious of the students who attend school there--I would've killed to have had something like this on my campus as an undergraduate. There are three floors of art to digest; the first two are rotating exhibits so make sure to take it all in. Everything was so well lit and while spacious to accommodate all the art, it also feels nice and cozy inside. The third floor is the true gem though. That's where you'll find art throughout the ages; there is so much for the eyes to feast upon, and more notable names in art history. The best surprise for me was encountering several works by my favorite artist (Calder). To behold his mobile in the flesh is otherworldly and always moves me to tears. You cannot come to Madison and skip this museum without doing yourself a huge disservice. I'd haunt this place if I were a local. It's truly sublime.

We apparently were on the cusp of a museum reset, so some areas had already been closed off to the public as a result. When in the area again, we will def revisit the Chazen. For the best views, I'd definitely recommend snagging a front balcony seat to see the show and soak up the ambiance of the theater. Prices on drinks are a little high but reasonable enough. Polite and efficient staff. You can get digital tickets or pay something like $5 to have them mailed to you, which I prefer because it's fun to keep your ticket stubs. Cons? The chairs aren't super comfortable and they manage to get just under 1,000 people in the venue; impressive for ticket sales but it does make for a somewhat cramped venue, crowded lobby for drinks/merch and long lines out the front waiting for the show. Winter in Wisconsin? Better bring some hand warmers and all the things for the long wait on the sidewalk. Very limited parking so we find it best to park a couple blocks into the residential areas and wear comfortable shoes. It's a pretty safe area. Just a few things to keep in mind if you have claustrophobia. Totally worth coming for a show if it's someone/a group you've been waiting to see. You can also buy tickets to camp at the festival as well. Honestly, ticket prices are great, especially given how much entertainment and enjoyment you get when you pay. Order online by the end of May to save some money on 2-day tickets, or buy your tickets at the gate day-of -- either option works. 3) You're allowed to bring your own chairs, small tables, food, and alcohol! That's right, you heard me correctly. The Wife and I brought two folding chairs, a small picnic table, a few bottles of wine, and all our food so that we could just sit back, relax, and enjoy the music 4) They have a solid handful of food carts and a beer vendor if you forget to bring your own. 5) There are activities for kids through the day on Saturday. 6) No pets allowed. Although it would be fun to hang out with dogs all day, I'm totally OK with this rule since it means I don't have to watch where I walk.

We entered in a side entrance it it popped us right into the entrance. Anyone can walk in as they please. Rocks, rocks and more rocks! All different shapes, sizes and colors. What did we enjoy the most? The Dinosaur bones and reconstructed figures. They were large and we weren't expecting them. No gift shop! Fail as I wan't to buy something to take home and display. Surprising amount of cool stuff packed in a small-ish venue. From the adults in our group to my preteen nephew, everybody had a great time. We spent at least an hour in there. Whether you're into rocks, fossils and meteorites or not, this is just plain cool and well worth your time!
