The staff assured me that Dr. Beverly Chimene regularly prescribed all the medications I listed to other patients and that she would be able to do the same for me. Upon hearing that, I booked the soonest available appointment, which was three months out. When it came time for my appointment, I had several prescriptions that needed to be refilled, but because of the assurance of the front desk staff, I did not make other arrangements to have them filled. It was to my utter horror when I saw Dr. Chimene, and only had three days left of my anxiety and PTSD medication, that she informed me that she would not fill those specific scripts. There was nothing special about these medications as they were commonly prescribed by other providers. I had a current diagnosis within the past year but instead of receiving services from a psychiatrist, I was seeing a therapist who was not able to write the scripts for me hence my need to establish care with a primary care physician. I absolutely panicked upon hearing that news, but in response to my shock and stress, Dr. Chimene did not react in any empathetic way. It was made quite clear that she did not care at all about the precarious situation she left me in. Furthermore, she did not provide me with alternatives or any referrals to other providers that could help me. This was beyond poor customer service, this bordered on complete negligence.

I was in severe pain, scared, trying not to miss any time from my new job and trying to avoid a trip to the ER. I could barely think straight. When Dr. Meyerson blew me off, I told him something was very wrong. I didn't think I could drive home. Dr. Meyerson told me I needed to go to Shoal Creek (psychiatric hospital.) I asked if he thought it was all in my head. "That's not what I'm saying," was his response. Every time I tried to figure out why, he's say, "that's not what I'm saying." I thought I was having a psychotic break. My Mom came to pick me up and take me to Shoal Creek. She asked him why I should go to Shoal Creek. He said it was because I said I couldn't drive. After some more discussion he told us to hurry up because they needed the room. We went to the ER after that. By that point I couldn't even move my head. I was diagnosed wth a pinched nerve, and they assured me there was no reason to go to Shoal Creek. Let's review: 1. Being scared and unable to drive is a good reason to go to a psychiatric hospital. 2. Repeatedly says "That's not what I'm saying," but never says what he actually means. 3.Needs you to hurry up and give them the room back. 4. Completely misses the disgnosis.

I almost hate to post this review because I want to keep Dr. Meyerson all to myself! If only! LOL!…read moreI think he is hands down the best doctor in this city. He walks in with a smile on his face, discusses your symptoms thoroughly, asks a multitude of questions and takes as much time as each patient needs. Four years ago I felt a lump in my breast. Although he had no openings, he allowed me to come in after hours that night and he waited there for me. After feeling the lump, he immediately got on the phone and set up a mammogram and an appointment with a surgeon. Yes, I had breast cancer. He wasn't going to waste a day getting me the diagnosis and treatment I needed. I have a wealth of medical issues but he is always patient, kind and concerned no matter what. He never just treats your problem; he works hard to get to the bottom of it. I have been using a walker for two years due to 24/7 chronic hip pain. I thought it was from chemo. After suffering for such a long time, I finally went to see Dr. Meyerson. He said he thought there was nothing wrong with my hip itself, that it was something affecting the nerves in my spine. But since is is thorough, he did order an X-ray to rule out bone cancer. He ordered an MRI, and sure enough, I had bulging discs pressing on my nerves that was causing my hip pain. His nurse called the day after my blood tests to tell me there was indication of thyroid problems. I went in for a second set of blood tests and after those, the doctor referred me to an endocrinologist who diagnosed me with Graves' Disease and hyperthyroidism. I could have gone into cardiac arrest! I am currently under treatment for those issues. I never would have known if he hadn't checked me out so well. His staff is just as awesome. You can tell they love the man for whom they work. It is an office full of kind and understanding people. His nurse, Barbara, continued to call me to make sure I was following the doctor's orders. She called me five times in four working days. That is exceptional followup! She even called the endocrinologist to make sure I went to my appointment. Who does that these days? NOBODY! I feel special when I go there. I am not just another cow being led through a chute. I am an individual with problems that Dr. Meyerson is going to fix come hell or high water. I feel safe knowing my health and my life are in his supremely capable hands. All I can say is WOW! He needs to give training sessions to the majority of other doctors here in Austin regarding how to treat a patient. I am so proud that he is my doctor. I respect him so very much.

I recently wrote a review for my new AWESOME dentist and it had me thinking about my AWESOME…read moredoctor, Dr. Sorensen. I'm surprised there aren't any reviews of her yet - she runs a small practice but she's a big deal. My first appointment with her was last fall. I was overdue for my annual and, like any normal human being, wasn't looking forward to it. A good friend recommended her with a glowing review. My intention was to call the office, just to ask if she was accepting new patients (she only accepts 600-800 so I figured my chances of getting in were slim). Much to my surprise, Dr. Sorensen was the one to answer the phone! That impressed me enough that I scheduled an appointment for the next week. My first impression of Dr. Sorensen was excellent, and things only got better from there. She literally does everything - she is a one-woman staff, which means she does everything from checking your vitals to dealing with insurance. This approach means that you get to spend more time with her, which means that you feel like anything but just another patient. She also takes a conservative approach to medicine, so when I told her about my occasional anxiety, she recommended things like yoga instead of jumping to more invasive/expensive treatments. Best part of my experience with her? I ended up having a bit of follow-up work the next day, and was obviously concerned about the results. She got back to me the next morning to let me know all was OK and thoroughly explain everything. And the day after that, I got my pap results back. That's right...TWO DAYS after my appointment I got my pap results! I'm used to waiting a minimum of two weeks. She called as soon as she got the results because she didn't want me to worry longer than I needed to...wow. If you are looking for a doctor who uses modern technology (online scheduling, mostly paperless, etc.) but won't provide you with the typical, cold doctor's experience, I strongly recommend Dr. Sorensen.

My initial visit was very through and the Dr took as much time as was needed to understand my medical history, make suggestions, ask questions and actually sit down and have a conversation! That is impressive in todays world. Her practice is purposefully small, self-managed and her interest in medicine and people is clearly visible in how she runs her business and treats her patients. I nearly fell out of my chair when I called to schedule an appointment and Dr Sorensen answered the phone herself. Unheard of! She also makes herself available on nights and weekends to answer calls or come to the office in case urgent issues arise. I believe she truly cares about her patients and wants to manage her practice with the best technology and information available to her. She leverages technology to allow her to have the time to treat the patients, rather than using technology as a crutch to fit more patients into her day. I was thoroughly impressed with Dr. Sorensen, her sense of professionalism was first rate and she has a compassionate manner that is ideal for families looking for a Family Practice. If all small businesses could be run in the same manner Dr Sorensen is running her business, we would have a true sense of what community really means.
