This place was my go to for good polish food. Now I wouldn't suggest it. My husband food was cold, the waitress only came to the table twice after we got our food and for the bill no refill on our drinks we had to ask someone else. I never felt so uncomfortable here, the two times the waitress came to our table she only spoke to my husband ignored me the whole time. The vibe has definitely changed since we've been there last. Oh my gosh !! This place has THE best home made pierogis. Their city chicken is tender , and their their kielbasa is delicious. Overall, their polish food is authentic and delicious. I highly recommend this place for authentic polish food. Just don't go there if you're on a diet !! read more

We originally had plans on eating at another establishment for my brother's birthday, which didn't pan out so I looked on OpenTable for a restaurant that could accommodate 12 guests within the hour. Marcus Grill was one of the few choices and I couldn't be happier with my selection. There is hand sanitizer on arrival and every waitress wore a mask for the entire duration of our time there. The menu is extensive and offers a different variety of food ranging from fish and chips to shrimp fettuccine. The food was absolutely amazing and the portion sizes were enormous. They also have a full bar, which we utilized. I ended night with apple cobbler to-go and when I got home, it was still intact and DELICIOUS! This restaurant has a nice atmosphere, good service, a large varied menu, and very reasonable prices. So, why the 3? The food. I was sooo disappointed. There were several items on the menu that sounded tempting, but I wanted to try some Polish selections, so I ordered the mini sampler. The salad that came with it was standard bagged iceberg lettuce mix with a little tomato and a couple cucumber slices. Ok. I could live with that. When my entree arrived, though, I took one look and thought, "uh oh, I should not have ordered this." The food on my plate was all the same color of beige and clearly all of mushy, non-crispy texture. There were two large potato pancakes. Their interior texture was a mix of both lumpy and mushy, but not in a good way. The taste was okay, but the exterior was not crispy at all. All was the same mushy-lumpy texture, inside and out. The pierogies were also mushy inside and out, plus barely warm with oily exterior. One was filled with that same unappealing potato mix, the other had cheese, but pretty tasteless. The cheese roll was the best thing on the plate, but still mediocre. A crepe filled with ricotta cheese and rolled. Adding sour cream and applesauce to any of these things did not improve them one bit. We were eating here as family guests, or I would have sent my dish back. It was actually one of the most disappointing meals I have ever received in a restaurant. My 88 year old father-in-law ordered a well done burger. I could see from across the table that it was very rare inside, but he is not one to complain. I could see that he slowly choked it down bite by bite and didn't say a thing. Sister and mother in laws said their food was okay, but didn't comment much beyond that. My husband said his burger was acceptable for the low price. I guess I had the worst food of the group. Based on only my food, I would have rated this restaurant a 1. I choked down half a potato pancake, ate (but did not enjoy) the pierogies and cheese roll, and left more disappointed than anyone reasonably should be over one meal. It is was one of those times, though, when you have high hopes, you're hungry, you are looking forward to enjoying something really great.....and then you don't enjoy even one bite. I decided to give it shot and have been ordering carry out through the Pandemic and everything has been ok. Well after what happened today, I understand where people are coming from. The manager "Stephanie" was SO rude to me because their staff prepared my order incorrectly and they had to make it again. On top of that they tried to give me the smaller size even though I paid over $15.00 for the salad! She followed me to the door screaming at me! When I went to Marcus Grill for the first time a year and a half ago, the food was good and the service wasn't too bad either. Then, it went down hill from there. With each subsequent visit, the food got worse. On my last visit last year (late summer), I ordered their Stuffed Green Pepper. One of the world's easiest dishes to make right? Apparently not at MG. It was the driest meat I'd ever had in a green pepper. It tasted like it had been left in an oven or under a heat lamp for hours. It didn't just taste bad, it looked dried out on the top and the green pepper was all shriveled up. When the Manager (older woman) on duty came by and asked how things were, I told her what was wrong. She took it and said "If you don't like this dish then you can order something else". Its as if I ruined her day because I didn't tell here everything was fine or great like everyone else. It is so sad and unfortunate, this place had great potential, but obviously the owners stopped caring or paying attention to their food and service. read more

I have been to this location three times, all for breakfast....so that is what my review is based-on. I have to admit, while somewhat jaded with my favorite breakfast joint just down the road....I was very pleasantly surprised with Marcus Grill! First, there is a private parking lot - so parking is a non-issue. I've never been there at night, but I imagine it's well-lit. The interior is nice. When you first walk-in, it is a little confusing what you are supposed to do - where you are supposed to stand, etc..... there isn't a clear check-in/hostess station....also - the first thing you see is a Christmas tree and the door to the kitchen. Small price to pay though for the delicious food and great service. Everything was YUMMY!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lighting is great inside the main dining room. There is also a bar area which is a little darker - but it's supposed to be! Nice place for a neighborhood gathering....it also looked like they have a separate area off the bar that you can rent-out for events..... As for breakfast itself, my eggs and potatoes were PERFECT!!!! Not a fan of their rye bread though - wish it wasn't as fluffy as it is - looks more like white bread in disguise...but it is still awesome! Prices are good too. I dinged one star because I don't like the coffee mugs, they have a strange shape which forces me to hold the mug in a way that feels unnatural to me. Also - there is (what appears to be) a year-round Christmas tree at the main entrance....looks like the ornaments are changed based on the season... I'm not a fan of this look...but I do know this is a popular way to decorate.... Also dinging one star because a busboy came around to fill coffee during one breakfast outing...he was holding 2 pots of coffee....he used one pot to top off my husband's mug, and while he was pouring into the mug he poured the other HOT pot on my husband. Most of it went down his leg and on the floor - but his outfit was ruined and we had to adjust plans to allow him time to go home and change his clothes. read more

Today we visited because we could eat outside. Most everything worked perfectly. There was adequate social distancing, service was efficient and food was good. It was nice to be in a restaurant again. Our only concern was the cleanliness of tables. We observed the tables being cleared and cleaned Many had condiments left on the table and the cleaning involved only a wipe down with a rag. There was no sanitation of tables and chairs were not touched. Being COVID aware, better cleaning should be a standard. read more

Went here last weekend for dinner with friends. In the middle of taking our drink orders, the waitress turned to the booth behind us & directed her attention to them for what seemed to be forever. We seemed to have empty glasses quite a bit & the waitress really enjoyed reaching in front of me for everything...even to reach the far end of the table where my BFF sat. Yes, that's right, I said table; meaning, she cold have just as easily walked to the other end. She did finally figure this out at the end, which was good, because I was contemplating biting her if she reached in front of me one more time! I ordered the polish platter & felt the cabbage roll & polish kielbasa were very good. The pierogie were not bad. The sauerkraut was a little bland and the "homemade" mashed potato lump was bland & lacking. The meal came w/soup or salad. For an up charge, I got French onion. It was strangely sweet... I eat at the Marcus every Saturday with my parents who live nearby. The atmosphere is upscale but the prices are low. Their daily specials for breakfast, lunch, and dinner are usually priced under $10. The best item on the menu, in my humble opinion, is the Marcus Special, which features several homemade Polish offerings on one plate. But if you're daring, go off-menu and order my personal favorite, the chicken quesadilla. Their soups also come highly recommended by my parents. Does nobody cook on Easter Sunday anymore?? We went through the ringers trying to find any place to eat this passed blessed Sunday. We didn't want any crazily priced buffet, and making any kind of reservation at the 11th hour, as we had elected to do, was not an option. We were able to come up with three places. Bostons, Twisted Rooster or Marcus Grill. Marcus Grill won out. It was a really good choice too. They said they didn't take reservations, but we were asked about one upon coming in. It didn't matter though, we were seated rather quickly and this place was bursting at the seams busy! We all ordered different options from the menu, breakfasts, lunches, salads, pasta, polish.. We all like our choices. Service was a little slow, but honestly, they were so busy, and we weren't in any kind of hurry so, I shouldn't even mention it, but I'll be thorough. Decently priced restuarant. It's Polish, but I've never had it here, I like that you can get a decent dinner and a glass of wine to go with it. I'm not sure why Marcus Burgers are not as big of a deal in the Detroit area as they should be. It's a Detroit original. Steamed hot dog bun, juicy delicious burger shaped for that bun, covered in chilli onions mustard cheese etc. This place does them right, along with their authentic Polish menu. I went to eat at this restaurant. I ordered the veal marsala. The veal was way too thick & it was overlooked. I barely ate any of it bc it was disgusting. I told the waiter this. Instead of taking it off my bill or giving me a discount he asked if I wanted a free desert. I agreed. He boxed a dessert up then I paid the bill & I left. When I got home I opened the box that had the dessert in it. He gave me a single slice of pie. I ate there with my husband as well. I was under the assumption that I would be given a bigger & nicer dessert than this that I could share with my husband. I know that the veal Marsala cost way more than that slice of pie. I used to go to this restaurant quite frequently but bc of this incident & horrible customer service I will never go back there again read more

Wow who gave them a 3 star. My husband went in for dinner. First time. The waitress was nice that at first but her comment when she gave us the bill was classic! Chicken parm was burned, potatoes tasted like they cooked them with the dirt on them. My husbands chicken alfredo was really bad tasting chicken soup. They water down the dressing for salad. Lemonade was watered down as well. The rolls were good. Thank goodness because that is all I had to eat for dinner. Lol we said a Homeless person would not even eat this! And then the best part, the waitress said I hate to give you this bill since everything was so bad, but there is nothing I can do about it, you just have to pay 35.00 for nothing. Service was horrible. This is the second time I dealt with the same waitress and I truly do not know what her problem is. I am super understanding when anyone is having a bad day, but this was definitely something else. For one, she (didn't give us her name) was completely rude and not responsive when we placed our orders, when we asked for boxes and the check and when we left. Even my husband who barely notices anything was going to speak to the manager because of her attitude but we decided to let it go and just not come back nor recommend our huge family to ever go there again.
