Very disappointed! We've been here several times before and it's been good, but on a Friday night going for dinner, ordering a Ribeye steak (which I've had before and was pretty good) , I got my salad, finished it, and 20 minutes into dinner, server comes out and says "we're out of Ribeyes". They were unusually slow, so they didn't sell out that evening. How are you out of something on day one of a weekend? Ordered a burger instead...medium but it came out well done and was tasteless. Fries ordered well done weren't. If I knew I was going to pay $20 for a tasteless burger and limp fries, I would have just gone to Shamrock and gotten a MUCH better burger and fries. First time coming and I just have to say this is such an amazing place. Set up like a fancy dinner but is a diner style fee. Had a table of 8 and they were able to get us in and seated very quickly. Good overall experience. Ambience is nice and comfortable. Decor on darker side but nice. Service was great. Kept water glasses filled, checked on our party to make sure everything was good. The food was pretty good. Diverse menu choices. I opted for the polish combo. As it is part of my heritage. The combo included 2 pierogis, a stuffed cabbage, mashed potatoes and kielbasa with sauerkraut. Overall delicious. Not as good as my mom's but decent. You had three choices for the pierogis - potato/cheese, sauerkraut or farmers cheese. I tried the latter. Dud not like it. The cheese was dry, maybe overcooked. Texture was odd. Wonderful experience. Marcus Grill recently hosted a funeral luncheon for our family. It was a last minute booking that they accommodated without issue. The food was delicious, it seems the green beans are the best anyone has every had. I enjoyed the homemade salad dressing and potato wedges. Every part of the experience was a pleasure. We have dined in and done carryout a few times. Our handicapped aunt cannot get around to join us there so we order her favorite (lobster grilled cheese & soup) and bring to her in the nursing home. We did this on Saturday (7/22) and we have learned we have to be specific and ask for things like ketchup for my husband fries (??) and how many silverware sets and napkins we would like. So I asked for 3 sets of silverware, extra napkins etc. We got 2 knives, 2 forks and no spoons despite the fact that we got two soups. Both lobsters grilled cheese sandwiches were literally thrown in the boxes (see pics). $60 for lunch for 3 people you expect some common sense and professionalism. I have been coming here for about 12 years, the food is excellent but the service has really been going down hill. The last three times I was in service was so slow as I exceeded my normal lunch hour-by a lot. Today, in addition to very slow service (should it really take 25 minutes to bring out a cup of soup?) the waitress tipped herself. The bill was $30.45 I gave her $40 cash she returned with a ten dollar bill and 55 cents. As slow as the service was I was going to give her 20% or $6 but she told me they didn't have anything smaller than a 10 and neither did I. So, not wanting to stiff her, I gave her the 10. So she got a 35% tip for below average service and Marcus Grille lost a long time customer. read more

I was on this side of town very early Sunday Morning and realized the grocery store I wanted to go to wasn't open yet. I had a few minutes (more like 30 minutes LOL) to kill and figured I'd get breakfast. I'd never heard of Marcus Grill before, despite having driven by it several times before. Walking in, the place is beautifully decorated. Has a very nice feel to it and it also has a banquet area attached as well for obvious larger parties with a bar! I really loved the decor and it has a very classy feel to it. I was seated immediately and noticed on their board that they had breakfast specials. I reviewed the menu, and even though it seems to be more of a lunch and dinner spot, they did have a decent yet small breakfast selection. I ended up getting the Rancheros breakfast with rice and refried beans, and it was HUGE. I wasn't expecting that much food when it came out! I didn't think I could finish it all, but some how I polished off just about everything. I will brag about my waitress. The first one I had wasn't sure what came in the breakfast special so she had to go get her coworker to answer my questions. (I could tell the waitress who ended up taking my order was very seasoned and was good at her job. Not that the other one wasn't, but this one really knew her stuff.) I will say after reading some of the reviews, two things stood out to me. One, I think their under new ownership and have raised their prices. Since I've never been here before I don't know what they were charging and their website doesn't state prices unfortunately. I don't think the price increase was tremendous, but I did notice somehow somewhere. I would say that an average breakfast here runs about $10 on average depending on what you get. Secondly, I think the menu has been slimmed down due to two different matters. First, the pandemic and second, new ownership. I am fine with this because it means that things will be fine. Price hikes and new menus happen all the time and its usually for the better. I would like to come back and check them out for lunch or dinner, as this place is truly fabulous all the way around. After dozens of great experiences, I'm sad to say that they've raised their prices and the food quality has gone downhill. The chicken tenders tasted and smelled like fish. I think they were dipped in the same batter as fish. The pierogi weren't nearly as good as they used to be, the salad was dialed back and the service was far from good. The waitress didn't come back for drink refills, and the dirty plates weren't collected from the table. This was a very disappointing experience. $7.29 for French onion soup that's not anything to write home about. The hostess and the manager were still friendly, as always! From the outside, this place might look like a standard diner but it is so much more. For starters, I've never been to a diner with these types of drinks! The Black Orchid is in a class of its own! I don't know which makes it feel more elevated; the rollerball ice cube or the edible Orchid that it is garnished with. It doesn't really matter, it's phenomenal either way. The Saganacki is top notch; one of the best outside of Greektown! I've dabbled in other menu items and haven't really been disappointed. It's usually pretty busy at lunchtime but never busy enough where you won't get seated. Drop in and check them out! I think I'd be surprised if you were disappointed. read more

Trying this place time and time again after many bad experiences is 100% my fault. A completely different menu for Mother's day without telling us, raised prices for holidays, and spoiled chocolate milk...the list goes on. The service isn't the greatest either. You have to ask for things several times and they are often still forgotten. I asked for ranch and watched the server walk away into one kitchen door and right back out the other to go chat with the receptionist...without my ranch. I do not recommend! read more

This restaurant has been around for 90+ years! It's a warm and inviting place to go with family. They are know for their burgers and polish food. We went for Christmas Eve brunch. I got the "Polish Scrambler" which comes with 2 savory crepes filled with kielbasa and scrambled eggs. It also comes with a potato pancake. The potato pancake comes with apple sauce and sour cream on the side. The crepes were crispy and filling. I preferred the potato pancake by itself without eating it the polish way and didn't use the apple sauce or sour cream. read more

Went a month ago after several people yakked about how wonderful. The place is gorgeous dark wood high ceilings staff is professional and courteous. There's a big bar that's also gorgeous. I had perch picatta. It was soggy- not what I expected. My husband had some kind of dumpling soup it's like the best soup I ever tasted! Then he had the Polish combo-he cleaned his plate. We also had a bread basket. I'll try again definitely but I'll order something else. Lots to try. I saw people ordering huge bowls of soup-the different soups must be really good. It was my first time here, and it will not be my last. Marcus Grill has a good balance of amazing food, exceptional service, and a happy customer (me!). My order: Chicken Kabob The chicken kabob was hands down one of the best kabobs I have had. For starters, both skewers were loaded with a good balance of chicken to veggies (onions and red/green peppers). The chicken was perfectly grilled, juicy, and full of mouth-watering flavor. The veggies all had a nice little crisp to them. The chicken kabob was not my original choice, but it was the right choice. First I was eyeing the burgers. Then my focus pivoted after I turned the page and saw the kabob. It comes serviced with rice, sauce and grilled pita, but I did not want any of that. I would have rather just ordered another skewer in place of that. But some restaurants in the past have told me "I have to" get the sides. Why? I would rather have two entrées with no sides than one entrée with sides. That is just terrible service when I encounter that. But Marcus Grill did not tell me "I have to". The waitress went above and beyond and it really made for a great experience. Exceptional service at a restaurant is important, and Marcus Grill exemplifies it. Pros and cons. Pros - affordable prices, good service staff, friendly manager. Cons - reservations are a waste of time!. We had a reservation but had to wait until the entire lobby had nearly cleared out (including later arriving walk-ins) and were seated 1/2 hour after our reservation. The food was okay except the two orders of Eggs Benedict both were cold the sauce was gelatinous even the hash browns were cold. Acoustics are awful can hardly have a conversation without shouting.
