From start to finish, this place is a disaster. It is managed terribly and employees give less than zero F's about their jobs. And honestly, I cannot blame them. I wouldn't want to work there with that manager's negative attitude. The story in a nutshell: 1. Came in for a few grocery items. 2. looking for good deals. At the start, the parking lot is cringe and was not thought all the way through before finishing. The east side faces an ugly fence and is hard to maneuver around. The front of the store has a skinny lane to drive through and just on the other side of that are rows of vehicles. Dangerous. Easy to get hit the way it is set up. Second strike was coming up on the sidewalk. These wheeled carts full of potted plants were blocking the path. Had to go around them. The water hose was left on and had sprung a leak and got water everywhere. Lots of waste... but I guess that's their business. hate to be the one to pay THAT bill! Got inside slowly opening door and immediately dufus woman with a shopping cart is standing there reviewing what looks like a shopping list; blocking the path in this narrow entry antichamber. Why is that EVEN like that? Finally I have to squeeze past her then she gets mad and mumbled something about manners. UMMM... YOU"RE the one blocking the path! Finally, after some searching, I found what I wanted. Got up to the checkout with only ONE cashier and a LOOOOOOOONG line; only to realize after the sale was completed that I was overcharged for an item by more than $5! I stood up for myself and found the manager, "Daniel". He was apologetic enough at first. He walked with me over to where the item was only to tell me (in so many words) that I was dumb and "clearly that is not for that particular item!" I said, "yeah, I saw that it was for another item but I assumed something else was just stocked there and this was put there in its place because there were a whole bunch of them there. It's not like some jerk just discarded his unwanted merch there. This was stocked by an employee. So, that's on YOU... the store! He disagreed and told me I was "welcome to return it." So I tried... Person at the desk was having trouble and ran off to get the same guy who told me to just go to the service desk to return (if I did not like it). I had enough. I just left with the item that I overpayed for and vowed I would not be back. All I got was an, "oh, ok." OH, OK??? Really a-hole? That's the kind of customer service that is closing up store left and right these days. people remember that and some... like me do not forget. We carry that for a long, LOOOOONG time. I had a similar experience at the Barberton location a few weeks ago. Same runaround, but THAT time, the tag was actually for the item it belonged to. I guess price changes and hanging tags are not priority at this place. Anywho, i will NOT be back. Not that "Daniel" cares. But I digress... Treat your customers better!! read more

I come in asking for an item that you sell, untold everything has recently moved around, no big deal... I'll walk to customer service. However, if customer service can't look up the item and tell me if you for sure, sell it or not let alone where it is at in your store? And what is the purpose of customer service? Stopped by Marc's and stepped into 1984. The music, the store, and the ambience is totally 1984. And waiting in line at the cash register with only two cashiers working on a Sunday morning, so 1984. The cash register malfunctioned and everything. Ah, memories! The food selection is good. This was my first visit to this store and it has everything you'd want and then some. But I've become accustomed to Wal-Mart's lower prices. My bill was about $40 higher than usual and I went without a few of the items that I'm used to having. But that's what you get when you live in the 80's. To shop here or not to shop here. That is the question. read more

Cheap prices, poor customer service need assistance with an item put together you came to wrong place I had purchased a shopping cart on wheels to transport things groceries etc. The staff was rude like they don't care about the customers or the requests. The shopping cart on wheels did not come with any instructions to put together it was more like here the item pay for it and leave. I never even got a chance to use it after had no choice to return it after my experience with Marc's they have lost a customer Refusing to help customers that asking for help should not be tolerated and makes me mad. read more

Marc's are great stores to shop at for your daily needs. If you don't care about healthy and organic products, then this is not the place for you. If you're looking for basic fruits and veggies, this place is great. Prices and very decently priced, lower then GE and Heinens. I've noticed that Marc's are not the cleanest stores, it seems they all have funky vibe to it. Regardless of that, it's a decent place to shop. read more

This Marc's is a hole in the ground waste of space. They are so rude and inconsistent in there I was shopping in there on Saturday went to the checkout define that the salami that I had purchased at the deli had this awful rotten smell to it. The reason I didn't notice it prior was because my sister was shopping with me and she's the one that put it in the cart. We had went down a few while smelling this awful smell and couldn't figure out what it was coming from and here it was the salami. so the customer service person that was running the front told me to take it up to the courtesy desk to get my money back I was given such a hard time I haven't even left the store and he wanted my drivers license and a phone number with my receipt I said I didn't even leave the store yet he got nasty with me told me he refused to serve me and that if I didn't do this and that that he wasn't going to comply and got completely utterly nasty over and over again and he says well I guess you'll have to speak to a manager. When the manager come up she wasn't much help either I told her how rude he was and how he spoke to me and that he shouldn't be at customer service and that the meat there was something wrong with it she smelled it and said there's nothing wrong with it it smells like salami to me I said well then you better go get your nose checked I said all I want is my money back on it I said why does it have To be a big deal made about it I didn't take it home and even if I had I still have my receipt good heavens if they're worried about people stealing from the store or you certainly can't from the deli less you get something from there and didn't have a receipt for it I'm sure that a thief wouldn't be wanting to bring something back with the receipt I'm tired of shopping at this Marc's I normally deal with the one in Strongsville I guess that's who I deal with from now on. read more

Completely aggravated! This store runs ads and then can't even stock the non-closeout product that's advertised. You're extremely lucky if they actually get the product in before the sale ends because they don't offer rainchecks on non-closeout items. Many of the older staff are flat out RUDE, especially the short older lady at the customer service desk. They stand there hoping you won't ask them to actually do their job. The kids that work there have been great, positive and upbeat. I'm just hoping the negative attitude of the older generation doesn't rub off. There are many times that you can't even get down an isle without tripping over boxes or slipping on plastic packaging as folks stock the shelves and show no concern for the customer. I think they need to train the older folks on customer interaction and their mannerisms. read more

I still remember my shopping experience back in the early 90s at the first area Marc's, when it was called "Bernie Schulman's". Since then Marc's has grown into a formidable force in the wonderful world of grocery stores. The close-out area is my favorite place to find unexpected bargains. The groceries are mostly name-brand and at much more reasonable everyday-low-prices than just about any other grocery chain. Many Marc's stores now have a staffed deli-counter with a variety of meat and cheese items at the best prices anywhere! Marc's is the only serious competition to Aldi's when it comes to stretching your groceries dollar. Marc's has suffered somewhat from their anti-union stance, paying their workers the bare minimum, which obviously does keep merchandise prices down. Like fast food, textiles and exotic fruit, I'd be willing to pay a little more to assure better conditions and wages for the workers making it all possible. Marc's employees should be better compensated for their work. That's the only reason I can't give a five star rating. Room for improvement! read more

I went grocery shopping today at Marcs and spent $79. After unpacking my groceries, I made myself a sandwich and found that the bread that I had just bought was stiff and stale. I brought the bread back to Marcs within an hour of purchase, along with my receipt. Marcs would not refund me the money unless I agreed to provide my drivers license to them to scan. Now, the bread was obviously defective. i told the manager that to protect myself from idenity theft, I make it a point to never provide personally identifiable information to a store. Even with a receipt and a defective food item, the Marcs manager would not comply with me. I have spent thousands of dollars at that store and I will NEVER shop there again. Stores like Marcs need to realize that customers do not like being treated like a common criminal. When the store scans your license, they have in their possession, your name, address, date of birth, and depending on the state of issue, your hight, weight and eye color. read more
