Deli department: clean and absolutely great service...yes...with a smile and a great disposition! From there I went to look for a cake at the bakery department: beautiful selection of bright and delicious looking cakes made by a great lady, the message on the cake was written by another talented lady...beautiful writing and yes...smile on her faces (both of them...imagine that!). Then I went to the meat department: guess what? The butcher said "Hi...may I help you?" Again...big smile on his face! As I was in the checkout line this lovely lady open a second checkout line and with a smile on her face no only checked my groceries she also BAGGED THEM!!! Yes...with a SMILE on her face! I left the store thinking I was on the twilight zone episode and at any minute I was going back to a regular dark depressing normal Giant Eagle market where nobody talks, they're all pissed at the world and where even though I pay top dollars for every item I have to bag my own groceries!!! Keep it up Elyria GE...you're the best and like I said before...a breath of fresh air when people need it the most! You may not change the state of affairs of this country but you certainly make a difference on your customers lives! All it takes is your kindness and your bright beautiful smiles! Thank you so much!

Customer service rep,…read more Have been a daily shopper for my needs for the last two years at this location and am about fed up with the service from a few of your employees that always seem to have an issue when I go through those lines at customer service. If it's such a problem being polite and doing your job without rolling your eyes , breathing heavy, and the redness on the regular, from the last who is named Tiny. If she doesn't like her job then she should quit, and if it's just a personal thing and she hates everyone. Regardless. If her attitude does not shape up, I'll find a new store to do all my shopping at. I live literally right next door, but it is not even worth the convenience of being so close to have to get the attitude. I manage a local restaurant and deal with customers that are sometimes hard regularly, and never is it okay to give these attitudes. Your company should be ashamed of themselves for allowing this attitude to go on so much. I have spoken to someone about he before and they say that's just how she is..... Maybe it's time you change that and ask your staff to start being polite and just do their jobs. You have until new years to fix this issue or I'll shop elsewhere.

I kept finding myself coming back b/c it was so convenient, especially since you can find pretty much everything here all in one place. From clothing & groceries to kitchenware, household items, beauty products, & so much more, there's a huge variety of stuff to browse. I especially liked the supermarket section b/c it made grabbing food & everyday essentials so easy. I def found myself making frequent trips here just b/c it was so close & had pretty much anything I could need under one roof. It's one of those stores where you can go in for a few things and end up walking around looking @ everything else & purchasing more than you expected. The prices were right which was a plus & made it even harder to walk out w/o buying numerous items!

Nathan, young man who is a cashier is always so nice and friendly. (Not sure if he still works there) Most of the time the ladies at the deli counter are pleasant as well. Cons: a few of their woman cashiers could care less about the customer and more about their conversation. Story: I came in for a few items. When ready to check out, the lady was in the middle of a conversation with another coworker. She didn't say hello. She didn't say anything to me actually, just talking with her friend at work. I waited to see if she would say anything. She finishes ringing me out and didn't even tell me the total. I put my card in to pay, finished my transaction and she handed the receipt over. Didn't say bye, have a good day, nothing! So I spoke up. I said glad your conversation was better then greeting a customer, you have a good day too. Nice talking with you! And I said it, hopefully, loud enough for the manager to hear. It was ridiculous. Seriously.

Sparkle is one of a dying breed of independently owned, old-fashioned grocery stores. The closest thing I can compare it to, in terms of atmosphere, is Piggy Wiggly down south. The store isn't so big it's overwhelming (like Giant Eagle), but has basically everything you need, and the prices are extremely comparable with the larger chain grocery stores. Sparkle has an in-store bakery, deli, and even a small floral section, just like the "bigger stores." If you are a brand-junkie and need 10 million brands of each product to choose from, this isn't the store for you. In most cases, you'll find three or four brands of a particular product instead of dozens like you'll find at bigger stores. The fact that there aren't tons of brands is actually a major reason I shop here: I buy what I need without wasting money on extras. If you want a welcoming, personalized shopping experience that offers great service and great prices, you'll love Sparkle.
