a pizza in a box
Sioux Falls F.

This is one of those reviews where I feel the food is a 3 star but I'm giving it a 4 star rating based on the experience as a whole. Price was very decent. Tons of options, website was easy to navigate. Staff was friendly. With my go to pizza place (Pizza Shop) closed for the night, I decided on Marcos. They say they don't use frozen dough, same sauce recipe since the 70s. So I ordered a Pepperoni Magnifico for the wife and I and a pineapple pizza for the kids. On my Dave Portnoy pizza scale, it's a 6.3. On my Sioux Falls pizza restaurant scale, it's at 7.7. Sioux Falls seriously lacks in quality pizza restaurants. The pepperoni pizza was decent enough. Needs more flavor. Very bland. I did like all the cheese on the crust though. Pineapple pizza was decent enough. I do like my pizzas crisper as these were on the softer side. But when my go to pizza place is closed, I got no reservations about going to Marcos.

SAUSAGE, PINEAPPLE & JALAPENO thin crust pizza. Very tasty! Sounds like a crazy combo, but its good!

I've been here 2x now and I like their pizza. I like their sauce it's light, not thick like a paste or too tangy. Good amount of cheese. Tasty crust. Friendly staff both times I've been there for takeout. I've tried their regular crust and their thin crust pizza now. Both are good. The thin crust is very thin, but kind of crisp. Ill be a regular customer at Marcos

This was the pizza.

Rating 2 stars strictly for prompt delivery. However, the pizza was pretty disappointing. Undercooked, doughy crust, oh and btw, I ordered the thin crust. Pretty sure this wasn't thin (see photo). Honestly, just another franchise pizza, get it out the door and tell the owners how many you sold. If you don't care about price or quality, you'll get pizza!

Sausage and mushroom pizza

The pizza rivals that of any sit-down restaurant. You get a great pie and a lot of it for your money.

1/2 sausage, onion and mushroom plus 1/2 pepperoni , mushroom and green pepper. Loved it!

Best pizza in town. Have tried several, but an totally hooked on the Pepperoni Magnifico. Amazing sauces and generous with the toppings.

And honestly, those accidental discoveries sometimes wind up becoming your favorite places. We were absolutely famished that afternoon and wanted something different from our usual stops when we noticed this little pizza place sitting quietly inside a fairly non-descript strip mall. At first glance, you might not expect much. Then you walk inside. The atmosphere immediately drew us in. Warm, casual, inviting, and filled with the kind of local neighborhood energy that makes you feel comfortable almost instantly. It had personality. Not manufactured "corporate chain pretending to be cozy" personality either. Real personality. Thankfully, the food completely lived up to the vibe. We ordered a large specialty pizza loaded with all the trimmings along with a smaller pepperoni pizza because my husband and I have fully embraced the philosophy that ordering "too much pizza" is not actually a real problem. It is simply future happiness. And because we apparently cannot order pizza without wings, we added a small wing order as well. The pizzas were absolutely fantastic. The crust had wonderful texture and flavor, the toppings were generous, the cheese was gloriously hot and melty, and everything arrived piping hot exactly the way pizza should. Even the smaller pepperoni pizza impressed us. Sometimes simple pizzas reveal the quality of a place better than overloaded specialty combinations do, and Tomacelli's absolutely delivered on both. Now the only small critique we had involved the wings. My husband and I personally tend to prefer traditional deep-fried buffalo wings over baked-style wings. That is simply our preference. However, even with that bias, the wings here were still flavorful and enjoyable enough that we really did not mind very much once we started eating them. And honestly, the biggest compliment we can give this place is simple: We kept coming back. Even though we live on the east side of Sioux Falls now, we still happily make the drive across town because local gems like this are worth supporting. More importantly, the consistency has remained excellent every time we have visited. That matters. Any restaurant can accidentally have one great night. The places that keep earning loyalty are the ones that continue getting it right over and over again.

Whole pie with Chad A. and he even got his money back in the back! Hint hint! The cheese is right, the toppings are a'plenty and they have the right amount of sauce! Even the drinks are appropriate! The conversations got intermingled and new friends made! It was hot and served with a cheeky smile! She was cute! I'll be back soon! They didn't forget to ask us about the big game either!
