Rick Bayless on PBS who has Mexican restaurants in Chicago mentioned this place in one of his old shows so we decided to try it, a break from traditional Oaxacan traditional food. And it was also close to our rental in San Felipe. We ordered the camarones (shrimp) tostados for starters which I thought were pretty good. I could have easily eaten this as my entree. My husband didn't think they were anything special. Our waitress gave us an English menu when we she saw us struggling and we were probably taking too long to order. All they had were fish fillets cooked in several options. We ordered one with mojo de ajo (garlic) and one just plain with butter (?) baked in their beehive oven.
Nothing outstanding and my husband thought they were overcooked. The fish came with some mixed vegetables and a little rice. Both cold. For dessert, he had the cafe flan and I had the platano (one was a big serving) baked in that oven. The best platano ever! Came with 3 sauces but I liked it just plain. The flan was not as creamy as I prefer but my husband liked it. It was pouring rain after our dinner. The waitress was sweet to call a taxi for us. read more
