Please see update at bottom of review.
I've been a regular patron of Mario's pizza shop in High St for the last couple of years for their amazing calzones (only other place in Bangor that makes a calzone that I am aware of at time of writing) so I was quite keen to sample the new Marciano's in search of a little variety.
Phoned for a delivery this evening for the meat lovers calzone, average waiting time, driver was friendly and courteous.
Taste, I'd probably give 7/10, presentation was quite poor, it was like it had just been cut up on a counter and scraped into the box (chef's fault, not the driver!)
Quantity was it's second biggest fault, the portion was tiny and for a "meat lovers" calzone, I had to practically search for the meat (Mario's is known for it's heap filled calzone)
The biggest failing was the price, a full 20% more expensive that their nearest competitor with half the portion size left me feeling disappointed enough to make me register with Yelp to type this review.
Would I go back? Well, turns out variety ain't all it's cracked up to be. If Mario's is open, I'll just stick with my usual but in an emergency, meh, I've eaten worse.
TL:DR, Nice enough, but too expensive and portions are rather disappointing.
UPDATE: It's now 24 hours later and I've been practically stuck to the toilet for the last 12 hours, I haven't eaten anything else since the calzone and nothing else that I've eaten in the last 48 hours could have caused this so, suffice to say, I will not be returning to Marciano's. read more
