Went in for hair and makeup this weekend before my son's wedding and came out very happy! They took the suggestions I brought in pictures and turned them into a reality so I would highly recommend them, especially if you're coming from out of town and don't no where to go! A huge thank you to the woman who worked her magic to make me beautiful and feel confident on my son's wedding day! read more

March Hare An Aveda Concept Salon - Hair Salons Near Me - Carmel, California

See all

Very cozy salon in the heart of Carmel. Loved my blow dry by Hannah. Will definitely come again.

This is THE best hair salon in the area. Owner is expert at hair cuts and color--a very wide range of styles, skills for everyone from trendy teens to professionals and also high fashion/public figures. She has worked with hair and fashion designers all over the world and knows her stuff. My haircuts are long lasting and grow out well. I really appreciate her kind world view as well--she's a compassionate soul. read more

Name should be March Past. Very light trim (because I really only needed color) and full color - which, God help me - can only be described as "mousy brown." I'd shown her several photos of my hair, taken over the last two years. In none of them was my hair brown. I recolored my hair myself later, that day, with L'Oreal, something I haven't done in at least a decade. It's still too dark. The more I look in the mirror, the angrier I get. On line at CVS, a woman with pretty hair gave me her stylist's name. Hope that one will work out. Price tag for this outing: $345. Plus tip. read more

I decided to try March Hare after reading about their prestigious Golden Pine Cone award. I was NOT disappointed! My hair stylist, Lettie is amazing. She listens to your concerns, and makes you feel completely at home. I get so many compliments on my hair now, and I am happy to tell them where I got it done. FYI they do weddings and special events too! Amazing selection of products as well! If you have a question, CJ is your go-to girl. I am so happy to have found the perfect salon! March Hare An Aveda Concept Salon - Lettie is a magician with hair! - Hair Salons Near Me - Carmel, California

I am so glad and blessed I have found Lettie for my wedding hair done and make up. She did such an amazing job that I received countless compliments at the wedding. Lettie was very helpful, knowledgeable and professional. She knew exactly what I wanted. Also, she went extra miles by giving me a few trials to make sure everything would turn out perfect. I can't thank her enough for transforming me into a radiant and gorgeous bride. If you are looking for a great hair stylist/make up artist, I would highly recommend Lettie. She is the best!! I am planning to go to see her for all my future hair needs. read more

Okay, girlfriends, Lay down your cell phones and drop your emery boards. This is the last search you will ever have to do for a stellar salon. I visit Carmel fairly regularly and on two previous visits had two of the worst haircuts ever, bar none. (I reviewed them--make that plastered them --under each parlors business names.) I was placed with Letty. Attention to detail and thoroughness are the hallmarks of her trade. Ask for Letty when making your appointment--and be aware that this is a salon requiring a several week lead time to secure a reservation. Tell her "Keith sent me". And don't be stingy with the tips, girls..! This is not the time or the place to balance your budget! read more

Great service and professional. Great products used. Fast but good quality. Love this place.

If you charge $65 for a men's cut you should at least talk to the guy. Being bored in a chair is an awful experience in itself. Also, I expect a longer consultation than "how do you want your hair?". No products were offered, introduced or asked about. Never coming back read more

March Hare is the place to go if you are looking for a professional hair stylist. I had not had my hair done in 5 years because it is difficult to find someone who can work well with fine hair. Well I am here to tell you that Marana (sorry if I spelled it wrong) definitely knows how to work with fine hair! The price is a bit high however for a great hair cut; I'll pay it! Thank you March Hare! read more

Just finished a haircut and shampoo with Monica. She was fantastic--a very sweet person who did a great job with my hair. I have seen Lettie in the past a few times and like her too. She happens to be on vacation so this visit was with Monica. In any event, a super nice place with good people doing a great job. Thanks for making us look just a bit better! read more

Letty is an amazing cosmetologist and has given me the best haircut year after year for more than four years. The Aveda products are pricey but worth it. But what sealed the deal for me was how careful Marianna and her staff are during COVID and the lengths they go to to keep everyone safe. read more

I was so lucky to get an appointment on a Saturday. I arrived early & got a front parking space downtown Carmel on a Saturday again, right in front of the salon. How lucky is that? I had Letti & she took me early which was super nice. I was scheduled for a must needed haircut. She shampooed & conditioned my hair nicely & gave me the haircut. I have long hair & usually wear it curly, but asked if she could blow dry it straight & so she did which was really nice. It was a great experience. The price is reasonable, & they have healthy plant based products. Thank you, Letti & the owner of the salon. They are very responsible. read more

I come all the way from Sacramento to have Marianne cut and color my hair. She does an excellent job and I'm always so pleased with how my hair turns out. Well worth the travel. read more

March Hare An Aveda Concept Salon - Hair Salons Near Me - Carmel, California

I came to this salon after getting a terrible color job at a very expensive salon in LA. Maryanne fixed my cut and miraculously got my hair back to a normal color. I always enjoy going here and consider this salon as good as any in more metropolitan areas. It is not inexpensive but I wouldn't expect it to be. I never worry about my hair getting screwed up and I enjoy being here. The salon is very pretty and intimate and friendly. Maggie read more

A great salon where the staff all work together. They were running behind for my appointment and when I explained that I had a wedding to attend, they worked it out and I was taken immediately. The other stylist didn't take her break and helped out my stylist who was running slightly behind. That showed me what a great team they are and how much they care about their customers. read more

Marche Hair is a small but beautiful salon. The staff there is professional, warm and extremely talented. This salon is everything that a salon should be. Most importantly, the staff can really cut hair. Monica is amazing. I actually went to a different salon and was so disappointed. Had to go to Monica to fix it and she did a wonderful job. This salon has been voted best salon in Carmel by the Carmel Pine Cone for two years in a row. And it deserves it. They know what they are doing here and it shows in the overall presence of the shop. If you are considering a salon in the area, consider Marche Hair. It's the best. DO NOT confuse this with the other Aveda salon in Carmel. You will be sadly disappointed if you do. read more

I went in to have my base darkened and some red added to my blonde highlights to achieve a fall look. After 3 tries, I ended up with Letty completely covering my blonde highlights... and no red at all. For $470 - YES, 470 US Dollars - I ended up with dark brown hair (no highlights). The owner, Marianna, was in the store after the first try - said not to worry, they would make it right. After the second try, she said come back in a couple of days and we'll fix it. After now over 6 hours of my time, I (in good faith) came back for a third try. Letty had completely removed all highlights from my hair, and guess what? Marianna (the owner) had nothing to say about it. No apology, no offer to refund my $470 based on the disaster my hair had become... nothing - dead silence! Unless you want the opposite of what you ask for and have $ to burn, do not go to this salon EVER! They clearly, despite claiming YEARS of experience, have no ability to deliver what they promise. read more

OMG soooo bad! I went in for my roots to be touched up and a girl that didnt know what she was doing turned me orange. The owner of this place is snooty and if you dont buy their products they treat you like crap. Dont get this place mixed up with the other Aveda salon in Carmel. They are professional and know their stuff. read more

Monica was fantastic and did exactly what I asked for. I went to her for a blowout for my engagement photos and was very happy with the result. I would highly recommend her. read more

This is the only place I will have my hair cut. The owner truly understands it is an art to cut hair. The cuts she gives last and hold up well over time. Sure, it's not cheap, but between the cut and the Aveda products, my hair looks better than it has in years. I've been going here for several years, and plan to continue. read more

found this place thru a friend who knew the owner and i am so so glad i did! everyone is so nice and friendly and they did a great job on my hair color and cut!! i'll be back again when my grey shows thru lol read more

I'm quite surprised by all the negative reviews. Yes it is pricey but you get what you pay for. Ny cut and color still look good months later. Blonde highlights on dark hair usually get brassy pretty quickly but my color doesn't change between appointments. I have never been misquoted on a price so I can't speak to that but the customer service has always been great. read more

I love March Hair and Aveda products. This is also the only place in town that offers reward points for Aveda. The only reason why it is not 5 stars is because of the price. My husband's haircut cost $80. Yikes, that is too rich for our blood so unfortunately we are taking our business elsewhere. read more

I went to this salon for the first time last week and i must admit that the service was pretty good. I am giving the salon 1 star due to their pricing--worse than LA ladies. they charged me $250 for an allover color, that is the same as my natural color. I called them to discuss the exorbitant charges and was told that due to the amount and length of my hair that she felt it was warranted (btw, I have very fine, medium length hair). There are other Aveda salons close by that are much more reasonable. Don't be taken for a ride and leave with an empty pocket book. read more

What a rip off! I was unfortunate enough to end up with Maryanna, the owner. My foil "touch up", for what should have been half a head of hair, ended up being one strip of color down the middle of my head with three miserly foils on either side at the crown. I guess she's so greedy, that she had the opportunity to squeeze in a haircut at the last minute and didn't even color 1/4 of my head. Total bill for that quarter head of haircolor and a haircut? $375.00. Hope it was worth it, you'll never get another dime from me again. All she did was complain about how much the remodel to her salon cost her. I guess she was trying to recoup the cost of her entire remodel in my one visit to her salon. NEVER AGAIN! read more

I was in town for a wedding. Came for a simple blow out. Arrived with my hair washed, conditioned and wet. I was staying around the corner. Blow out was ok. Purchased a 2 oz can of hair spray. Total upon check out was $86.00. If you are contemplating a blow out or any styling service ASK for pricing before you book. I live in Chicago and an amazing blowout is $40. BTW, the entire service took 30 minutes. read more

When I first moved to Carmel, my hair went crazy. I would start the day with good hair, but the moment I stepped into the fog my hair would start to grow into a giant puff ball of frizz. The moisture also turned half of my head into Medusa-like spirals. Not pretty. I spent hundreds on new styling products and new hot tools. Nothing worked until I wandered into this salon. Nothing takes the place of an excellent hair cut. The owner sat me down and corrected the hideous bangs another salon had given me. She then cut my hair with the curl. It was amazing the difference the cut made. Since that initial cut I've gone back several times, and each time I'm reminded that a really good cut is better than any styling aid. The ladies are all nice, but the owner is amazing. It may be expensive, but it's worth it. read more

Owner Maryanna has done my hair for years. This is as good as it gets. She is THE most talented colorist/stylist ever, always consistent and always a delight to be with during each and every appointment. The salon is peaceful, light, airy and full of great energy. The minute I enter I relax immediately and am delighted with the thought of being there for a couple of hours. The minute I met Maryanna, the owner, I realized i was in extremely competent hands. She is THE best colorist I have had in decades and never fails to be consistent in her applications of highlights and lowlights. And her cuts are fabulous. This is talent at its best. Her receptionist, CJ, is also a delight, always attentive and unfailingly kind. Her staff is comprised of well-trained, highly professional stylists, all of whom can be relied upon for excellent cuts and color, as well. The salon, a perfect central Carmel location, pleases the senses from the minute one enters. The Aveda product line is impressive and impeccably displayed. Never overpowering, the trademark Aveda scents immediately offer anyone who enters a very pleasurable experience. My hair went from over-processed to beautifully conditioned after my first visit, thanks to the gentle blends of ayurvedic herbs and essences in the shampoo, conditioner and other products I now consider musts for regular hair grooming. From A-Z this is 5-star service, 5-star owner, and a 5-star product line. read more

I had the best haircut of my life by Maryanna. She is very intuitive, intelligent and a real artist. I have very curly hair and had many lousy and an equal number of mediocre haircuts. I had almost given up on believing that a decent haircut is in it for me in this lifetime. Then I found March Hare. Maryanna knows hair, understands what her customer wants and needs and makes it happen in such a relaxed and easy manner, I was beyond happy. I would give her 10 points read more
