I made an appointment to get an up-do done for an engagement photo shoot with Kenny. I showed a picture of how I wanted it, and my hair turned out nothing like the picture. My hair took only 20 minutes to complete and I got charged $175. What seemed like a whole can of hairspray was used on my head as my hair felt like top ramen. There was really no effort put into my hairstyle and that cost that I was charged for what I received was unacceptable. I was so upset to see how my hair came out after receiving my engagement photos-from every angle it looked sloppy and messy. read more

I've had her do everything from color, cuts, to smoothing treatments, and our newest experiment with my hair: extensions! I even have my mom going to her now. I love having vivid colors in my hair, without the added damage of bleach, since I always like a black base, so Kassidy turned me to multiple different types of extensions methods. I've had both I-tips and hand-tied wefts and love them! I completely trust Kassidy from her color choices, to just a simple cut to my hair. First of all, I do not write bad reviews lightly. But I left this salon with half of my hair and bluntly chopped off ends so bad I could not even bear to look at them. I have a lot of hair, and was trying to get my hair fixed from a previous bad hair cut. I normally would not go to such an expensive salon, but I was just so tired of getting bad hair cuts, I thought I'd just pay the extra $$ and get a really good, professional one. But the entire experience was incredibly disappointing. Kenny was nice enough, but clearly did not allot himself enough time as his next client was already there waiting while he was washing my hair. 45 minutes for a consult, wash, cut, and blow dry is simply not enough time- I don't care how good you think you are or fast you can do it. He sped through the entire appointment, washed my hair in a total of 5 minutes, and didn't bother to take the proper time to fix the very bluntly chopped off ends he did when I asked him to. I told him I did not like a blunt, straight across cut. He did not spend more than a minute, maybe, trying to fix it. I also left the salon with the back of my sweatshirt drenched in water because he rushed through the wash. During the blow dry, hair was being whipped and pulled in every direction. I kept wincing because he aimed the blow dryer directly in my face several times, blowing wet hair and hot air into my eyes. It was extremely unpleasant and painful. The worst part of it all was this whole experience cost a whopping $110 not including tip. I am from the LA area and have had far better hair cuts for far less. Even though he fixed the rough choppy layers I came in with, I now just have a different bad cut. Word of advice for this salon - give stylists enough time to be able to appropriately provide the high-quality service you advertise to EVERY customer, no matter the skill level the service requires or the cost. read more

Got an AMAZING highlight + root smudge from Martin! He's very attentive, and gave me exactly what I came in asking for! He paid close attention to my inspiration pictures to make sure he got the look exactly right. A bit pricey, but that's expected in Carmel, so it didn't put me off. I'm 20 years old, and wanted a hairstylist that understood the fresh, in-style look I was going for. I had an amazing experience at Fellini Salon! I do not live in the area, but had my wedding in Carmel-by-the-Sea and had to find a salon to get my bridal hair updo and makeup. It was super easy and convenient to get an appointment - their online system is great. In the middle of the known chaos of preparing for a wedding ceremony, I got to an empty salon - Kenny was expecting me and there was no one else there. I showed him some ideas of what I wanted to do with my hair and he gave me a great suggestion and the result was amazing. He is a very talented hair stylist. The updo was super elegant and lasted the entire day, even though the ceremony took place by the beach. The make up could not have been more perfect. Never in my 30+ plus years have I experienced getting my hair washed, cut, and "styled"in less than 45 minutes. I have a lot of hair. My 1st appointment at Fellini was great, the 2nd and last time was rushed and essentially botched. I was the last appointment and someone clearly wanted to end their shift. I returned the same week to get my layers corrected, which we're bluntly chopped with no blending. I didn't receive any type of apology for the terrible cut that mind you IS NOT cheap here. I also have sections of, not joking, 1 inch long pieces of hair all throughout my medium-length hair from over texturizing. Stylist should be ashamed. read more

Simply amazing! As a first timer at Fellini salon I was blown away with the beautiful interior design and decor. I felt right at home. Kenny was beyond amazing. Everything about this place is amazing! The salon is beautiful with lots of books and magazines. I found an especially interesting vogue fashion book. Kenney is so nice and very professional. Although he is doing it all himself these days, he was really nice about taking the time appraising my hair first and quoting me (which he stuck to). I was also able to make an appointment for the following week so no big wait. Now for the appointment itself. He was running a bit behind but hey beauty takes time and again it's just him running and working the salon right now. I am naturally brunette but have been having some fun with color for about a year. I went platinum in April and since then just had one root touch up which was pretty good but there was a bit of banding. So Kenney totally handled my new growth and past issues like a wizard! He bleached my roots and went through touching stuff up every once in a while and at the end bleached the rest of my hair which was getting pretty dull and yellow. Usually it takes people two times of bleaching my hair to get it blonde enough but he did it all in one swoop. It came out brighter and better than ever! And best part, you can't even tell where the lines were and it doesn't feel damaged at all. If you know anything about bleaching hair, you know that it can feel like angel hair pasta when it's wet because it's so fragile lol. But the color all blends perfectly and it feels healthy enough! I'm obsessed and totally love it. I've really enjoyed being platinum even though it's a bit shocking and it's really great that Kenney made it look almost natural. Oh bonus info, he's actually worked at fucking fashion week.... in Paris... with all the major designers! Such good luck that I went here and I will most certainly be back! I am very disappointed in the Owner/Operator Colorist/Stylist Kenny of Fellini Salon. I returned to Fellini Salon for a base color and hair cut on June 18, 2020. I had been a customer in 2016 - 2018 approx. I had changed to a Salon very close to my former home for a couple of years ago. I moved and wished to reconnect with Kenny because the majority of his work was amazing in the past. Kenny has gained reputation in Carmel by the sea for excellent work. Salons had recently reopened and it was difficult to get an appointment. I was really looking forward to getting my hair done after waiting out the first wave of Salon shutdowns. So, you can imagine my dismay when I discovered that Kenny had turned my hair reddish! I gave the base color some time to settle before judging or jumping conclusions. I did not want to be too hasty. Kenny had four clients own the Salon at once therefore, I am wondering if perhaps Kenny stretched himself to thin that day. Then another Salon shut down was ordered. Time went by. I paid Kenny a personal visit and asked him to correct the color at no charge. I have never colored my own hair. I never intend to attempt this feat. Kenny refused to fix my hair at no charge. Now, I will have to pay, $300 to $400 to have a color correction, toner, highlights and low lights to get my hair back to where it was! I asked Kenny nicely to do the right thing. Correct my color at no charge. To make me a happy and loyal customer. He refused! Quoting me his usual very high price. I do not mind paying for excellent results. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TOP PAY AGAIN FOR A BOTCHED JOB! That is why I came back to Fellini Salon/Kenny. In November 2016 on my Birthday, I came to Kenny for the first time. Kenny was highly recommended by the a local women's boutique. The ladies there know their stuff. As I now recall, my first visit with Kenny my hair pulled red. I had to come back for a color correction which Kenny charged me full price! That never did sit well with me. After that the results were awesome. It was a special occasion and I just need my hair to be corrected immediately. I did not have the strength to ague more or be a guinea pig at yet another Salon. After that Kenny's work just got better and better. It was amazing in fact. IT IS VERY SAD THAT KENNY DOES NOT SEE THE VALUE OF CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. CUSTOMER LOYALTY. I AM AWARE OF THE STRAIN THE PANDEMIC HAS PUT ON EVERYONE. I JUST NEED MY HAIR FIXED! I must add that I texted express my concerns during the second shutdown. I was brushed off. Then, I called after the second Pandemic salon reopening. Daniel (Kenny's Partner) said he would get back to me he never did. So, I had to pay Kenny a visit. I AM EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED! read more

Great hair salon with precision cut! Kassidy is the best! I have lived in L.A., New York, Seattle, Atlanta, Taipei, and in each city I can only find one person who can cut my short hair properly. I got a disaster haircut from another salon in Carmel Valley right before Christmas, and they did not have time to fix it. Out of desperation and just by coincidence I found Fellini salon. Kassidy was very kind to do a quick fix to help me get through the holidays. Six weeks later, I went back to her to trim off the rest of that uneven haircut so that it can grow out and become more manageable. Kassidy is patient, detailed-oriented, calm, respectful, and communitive with her assessment of my hair and what she is going to do to amend the error.
