So I found this place because my wife goes here for her cuts and Carmel Monterey can be a tough place for a man to get his hair "styled"--- lots of Barber type shops but I'm really picky and when we moved from Bay Area a few years ago we had to find new service providers for everything. Locals are the best bet for that info and that's how we found Capelli. Annette runs her shop located in the Baryard area of Carmel. One woman show but her site is fairly large- I guess she decided working alone was easier- a lot of "artists" seem to do this. She spends a lot of time trying to understand what's working what's not with your hair. She has definite opinions about what's going on-- too long, too short in areas etc. she will do whatever you want but will try and guide you to a better look. I like that as I tend to go for a longer look. I'm very satisfied and like the look I get. I may be stereotyping but almost all the women I've had cut my hair over time don't spend much time on the "finishing" touches-- trimming sides and eyebrows with a final touch- I think it's because they don't do that for women. I just happened to walk by Capelli Capelli Color Studio and asked if anyone could fix a really bad, non flattering haircut. Natalie was working on a client who raved about her talent and she took my number to schedule a free hair consultation. I came back a few days later and Natalie examined my entire head like a brain surgeon! I knew that SHE REALLY KNEW her stuff and took the extra time to ask me what I wanted. I was SO HAPPY to be in the hands of a true professional again. Cutting hair is AN ART FORM and it takes many years to master cutting hair like Natalie. The whole experience was positively wonderful! I called this salon because I had purple-stained hair that I was trying to grow out. I started going "gray" around 27 and now that I am almost 50, I have a decent amount of white hair. With a large streak in front. I thought I wanted to strip the purple out and "go blonde." I called about a consultation. Was lucky enough to get right in. I could have been sold over $500 of low lights, high lights, color correction etc. But after looking at my hair and listening to what my expectations were, the stylist recommended just a great cut to show off my pretty white hair with purple tips. She told me "I can do what you think you want but lots of people would kill to have what you naturally have. I think we should just give you a great cut and stop there." Like I said, very ethical of her. She could have easily gotten 3x more financially out of me if she wasn't honest with me. Especially because I had strong and with hindsight, stupid ideas about what I thought I wanted. I have received so many compliments on my hair. I used to be self-conscious about my white/grey hair but now I am proud. This was more than just a hair cut. It was an education and a bit of therapy. The stylist was extremely knowledgeable and did not "neg" me about not using 16 different products on my hair. She didn't even flinch when I confessed I do not even own a hairdryer let alone am the type of lady that would spend time with "blowouts" and created a simple plan to maintain my cool style. I HIGHLY recommend this salon. Superior service without pretention. Very educated and knowledgeable stylists. I learned so much about how hair grows, what is a realistic expectation and what is not. I plan on bringing in my 8-year old for a cut (they start at around $125 if memory serves) and for her to get her own education. She has VERY long hair but hates brushing it. I needed assistance moving my hair from Coachella to work appropriate. I called Annette and let her know the issues I was having and how the products recommended by another salon were no longer having any effect. She made a consultation appointment with me. We discussed my goals and she asked a lot detailed questions and felt the condition of my hair. Her manner was so professional I felt like I had met a hair doctor! Anyway, she recommended changes to some of my grooming protocols and introduced me to some outstanding products. I have had a really difficult time finding someone on the Peninsula who could cut my hair. I finally found someone. I have long, thick hair that is wavy in the back and straight in the front. What I want in a haircut is wash and go. Natalie did that for me. I can wash my hair and let it air dry and it looks great. In fact, more than one person has told me that I must spend a lot of time on my hair, but I do nothing. I also have a cowlick on the top of my head (it makes a strange part--Natalie told me that it is where my hair grows different directions). Natalie recommended a product, and it does something to my hair so the part doesn't show. I have asked multiple hair cutters about this, and none of them gave me options. I use no other products on my hair. She also works evenings, which is a big plus for me. The downside is that she is pricey. However, it is worth it! read more

I cannot recommend this place enough! I had the perfect hair stylist but as of lately, she started to not care about her work and made a mess out of my hair. It was orange and super damaged. I have very long, fine hair and was super nervous about replacing my old hair stylist but thank god I found Capelli Capelli online and read the reviews. I had a 15 min consultation with Natalie and knew imminently she was the perfect hair stylist for me. Boy did she deliver! My hair looks exactly the way I want it to look. It's shinny and super natural looking, no more orange hair. She stayed really late to get me the perfect highlights and low-lights and I am so in love with it. I can't recommend Natalie enough! This salon does not stand up to the standards it claims to be. Very disappointed in the service & quality. I have been there three times to cut my hair and have seen two stylists- Andrea & Annette. Both did not listen to what I had to say as far what I wanted to have done and just cut my hair the way they saw fit. Andrea barely paid attention to the pictures I brought in for hairstyle ideas and just told me that the hairstyle in the pics were going to be too short for my hair. She did not even make an effort to style my hair after the cut. I left the salon looking like I got a cut from supercuts and totally not at all worth $75. What a waste of time and money. I am absolutely thrilled with the beautiful blonde overall highlighting and flattering cut and styling on my shoulder length, (dark brown starting to go gray) hair at this wonderful salon. The salon is staffed by two very talented owners, both expert stylists and colorists. My hair is baby fine, but thanks to Natalie is now healthy and easy to care for. I've seen women and men of all ages as well as hip young people in this efficient, state-of-the-art salon. I am amazed and so grateful: Natalie is a miracle worker! I had a really bad color experience at another salon a few days before a big event, and I called Natalie for help. Though her schedule was full, she agreed to meet with me for a consultation. She was so knowledgable about color, both what would work best for me and how to best adjust what had been done to my hair. Because I was on a tight schedule, she arranged to meet with me after her regular hours, and it was amazing to watch her work on my hair. She was basically painting, using lots of foils, checking the tone regularly and adjusting the results until they were perfect. This is the third time I've been to Annette for highlights and she get's it spot-on every time! I originally found Capelli Capelli through a Yelp review and feel it's only fair to do my own. I have long dark blonde hair and another salon left me patchy, stripy and damaged (which had me in tears!). I had a consultation with Annette and was instantly put at ease. She patiently listened to everything I was saying, making sure that she knew exactly what I wanted. She carefully explained what could be done to fix the problems so I knew what to expect. I could tell from the start that she was passionate about her job as well as being extremely skilled at it! Once she had finished 'correcting' my hair I was shocked... It looked amazing! Totally natural looking, and I got so many compliments. Annette blends the highlights so beautifully that I really only need them every 5 months. I travel down from San Francisco especially to see Annette, it's quite a long way to go for a salon, but now I've found Capelli Capelli I won't be going anywhere else! read more

I called Annette last night at 10:00 with a hair emergency. After attempting to add some blonde highlights at a DIFFERENT salon, I left with purple hair! Even though the mishap didn't occur with Annette, she booked me an appointment first thing in the morning to fix it. I was almost in tears when I walked in to have her fix it, but within 5 minutes in the chair I knew I was in great hands. She explained to me everything that she was going to do to my hair step by step so there were no surprises. Although she paid such close attention to detail, I was only in the chair for a short amount of time. Once she was finished, not only was my hair no longer purple, but it was the best it EVER looked. To go from a hair disaster to a masterpiece in one sitting is truly the best indication of Annette's talent!! She is amazing!!! While sitting in the chair, I also watched her partner, Natalie, as she colored her client, and she too looked amazing.
