He identified the problem and had a replacement on hand in the same visit. The second is the installation of my EV charger. He provided consultation to make sure I was purchasing the right charger and stayed for testing to make sure it was operating as expected. In both visits he came as scheduled, cleaned up after his installation and didn't require an arm and a leg for his services.. He knows what he is doing, does it well and is professional. Roland and his son just installed four LED cans in my living room, another 4 in my bedroom, replaced a chandelier with a ceiling fan in the dining room, and fixed the 3-way lights in my hallway. All of this was done in 4 hours and change. I have a 1 bedroom condo so during the estimation process, he gave me a heads up that he had to punch holes in the ceiling since there was no roof or ceiling access. He patched these up fairly well, but it helped that I had popcorn ceilings to mask the joint compound. The price for the services was very good, e-mail / text correspondence was quick, they showed up on time, and cleaned up after themselves. There's not much more you could ask for? Over 6 years ago he took care of the electric panel at my house. I contacted him again and he responded quickly. I just bought a Tesla and needed the 240v plug added in my garage. He originally was able to provide me with an estimate via text message photos based on where I wanted the outlet. When he came it only took him 20 minutes and it was perfect. Best part is he remembered doing the electric panel at my house all those years ago and gave me a discount for being a repeat customer even though I had the full amount in my hand! This is my 1st review EVER on Yelp. I felt compelled to let everyone know just how good Roland is. I just bought a new place and, as is common in most older places, it didn't have any lighting in the living room. After removing the popcorn ceiling, I decided to have recessed lighting installed. I got 3 consults and bids from 3 highly-rated Yelp electricians in my area, including Marcelo Electric. Roland's bid was not only the most competitive, but he was the only bid that gave me option/flexibility to purchase my own parts (something the other 2 bids were reluctant to offer). Roland gave me an estimate of 4 hours to complete the work but it only took him 2 1/2. I'm interested in how these installs are done and Roland even explained and showed me how he does it. I have an EV Charging Station at home that needed to be replaced (warranty replacement) and initially tried to do it myself. Very professional guy. He came in less than 30 minutes after I called. He checked our circuit breaker, all our outlets including bathroom vents. He even gave me valuable tips on safely using our appliances and you know what, he didn't charge me anything as the circuit breaker is fine. We needed two ceiling fans installed and I called several (almost 12) certified electricians in the neighborhood (Fremont,CA). Roland, who owns Marcelo electric gave me the cheapest quote and had excellent reviews on Yelp. Decided to go with Roland and scheduled an appointment at 8AM in the morning. Roland showed up with his son and nephew for the install and they arrived on time. Started out the work almost immediately and got done installing both fans in 2.5 hours (there was no pre-existing wiring present). My dad was having trouble with 3 of his sockets. Gave Marcelo Electric a call and told him my dad is a senior, and he cant do the work himself if he could stop by and check it out. I myself wasn't able to be there because I live out in Brentwood. He came by within an hour, checked everything and trouble shoot it to a wall switch. He was in and out in a half an hour. He didn't try to sell anything to my father, he just told him, its a bad switch and that was it. I was shocked that it didn't cost an arm and a leg. Great Service. Very very prompt, Roland responds to emails unlike other businesses I tried to contact. He installed the NEMA 15-40 connection to charge my Tesla. Roland and his Marcelo Electric rock! Before calling Roland, I called a few other electricians to get quotes for two projects at my home. One is to fix an outlet issue and one is to add additional outlet in my main bath room. For the first one, all others gave a quote of $120, and they also gave $230 for the second one. When Roland came in, after a couple of minutes of examination, he told me some details of the potential issue. With my permission, he then started moving some boxes in my garage and fixed the issue right away! There is no charge at all. For the second one, he did the job perfectly and charged me much less than the quote from the others. Don't want to blame others, but Roland's professionalism and knowledge really impressed me. Marcelo is a superstar. I moved to a new house and had short circuit issues that caused two rooms and one bathroom electric malfunction. I called first another contractor who spent a lot of time chasing the root cause. But he suggested that I need to open the walls sheets to find where the issue is. While other bidders told me about some of the problems they foresaw with our job, which would add to the cost, Roland Marcelo didn't see those problems, and was the low bidder. But that's not why I went with him. I went with him because based on all the things he had told me during the initial walkthrough, he seemed to be the most knowledgeable electrician, and I felt confident that he would do the job right. The night before our appointment, I called him requesting some last minute changes/upgrades, and that I trusted him to give me a fair price for those after the job was done. He said it would be no problem, and after the job was done, the final price was LESS than the original estimate! That's the first time I've ever had someone charge less than their estimate. I noticed the black smoke coming out of the outlet after vacuuming. The hot outlet and the continuing buzzing sound scared me. I wanted to find the reliable electrician quickly. After seeing the great review on Yelp, I contacted Roland. He came to the house at 5pm (I couldn't get off work earlier) and fixed the problem very quickly. When I mentioned that there were other outlets I was concerned with, he checked every single one of them and found that the work done by an electrician 3 years ago, who had charged me an arm and a leg, had messed the wiring. After two weeks of going without electricity in about a third of my home, I called Marcelo Electric. This is a great mom & pop operation! When I called, I spoke to Maria, the owner's wife. She promptly called her husband (the owner/electrician), Roland, and within 15 minutes, I received a call from him & scheduled an appointment for later that day. He came right when he said he would. He's very thorough & I had some serious problems, so this was not going to be an easy fix. Unfortunately, I had to go before he could finish, and I was busy the next day, so he actually offered to come at 7:30am in the morning before his first appointment. And there he was the next day waiting in his white van in front of my house at 7:15am. And sure enough, he had the problem solved within an hour and even fixed other problems he saw without me bringing them to his attention. In addition, the cost was a lot less than I expected.
