Marcelo Electric has helped me with two projects in my home. The first was troubleshooting and replacement of subpar outlets the builder installed. He identified the problem and had a replacement on hand in the same visit. The second is the installation of my EV charger. He provided consultation to make sure I was purchasing the right charger and stayed for testing to make sure it was operating as expected. In both visits he came as scheduled, cleaned up after his installation and didn't require an arm and a leg for his services.. He knows what he is doing, does it well and is professional. He's in my contact list as my only electrician now and always recommend him anytime anybody is looking for one. read more

Roland and his son just installed four LED cans in my living room, another 4 in my bedroom, replaced a chandelier with a ceiling fan in the dining room, and fixed the 3-way lights in my hallway. All of this was done in 4 hours and change. I have a 1 bedroom condo so during the estimation process, he gave me a heads up that he had to punch holes in the ceiling since there was no roof or ceiling access. He patched these up fairly well, but it helped that I had popcorn ceilings to mask the joint compound. The price for the services was very good, e-mail / text correspondence was quick, they showed up on time, and cleaned up after themselves. There's not much more you could ask for? I'm now thinking of getting cans put in my kitchen after seeing how they looked in the other rooms ... and I know exactly who to call to do the work. read more

This is my 1st review EVER on Yelp. I felt compelled to let everyone know just how good Roland is. I just bought a new place and, as is common in most older places, it didn't have any lighting in the living room. After removing the popcorn ceiling, I decided to have recessed lighting installed. I got 3 consults and bids from 3 highly-rated Yelp electricians in my area, including Marcelo Electric. Roland's bid was not only the most competitive, but he was the only bid that gave me option/flexibility to purchase my own parts (something the other 2 bids were reluctant to offer). Roland gave me an estimate of 4 hours to complete the work but it only took him 2 1/2. I'm interested in how these installs are done and Roland even explained and showed me how he does it. I'm extremely happy with the results and feel like I got exactly what I was hoping for and then some. read more

Over 6 years ago he took care of the electric panel at my house. I contacted him again and he responded quickly. I just bought a Tesla and needed the 240v plug added in my garage. He originally was able to provide me with an estimate via text message photos based on where I wanted the outlet. When he came it only took him 20 minutes and it was perfect. Best part is he remembered doing the electric panel at my house all those years ago and gave me a discount for being a repeat customer even though I had the full amount in my hand! This guy is the best! And the has the best rates around! I recommend him to everyone! read more

We got our recessed lighting and bathroom ventilation unit installed by Roland and Sal. They came before time, knew exactly what they were doing (did an amazing job at it), and cleaned up before they left (we didn't even need to vacuum). The prices were very reasonable and I'd highly recommend them for any electrical job. Both Roland and Sal are very professional and friendly. I'd call them again if ever I need to. read more

Awesome job! Roland is honest, punctual, technically strong and reasonably priced. All the things you look for in any contractor. Had him replace my electrical panels. Took him less than 2 days, from start to finish, including getting the city inspectors approval. read more

Roland is the best! This is a long overdue review for him. He worked on electric updagrade of our house two years ago. We consulted many electric specialists for our quite complicated project. And among them Roland has the best strategy and most efficient way to doing things. He is very professional, prompt in response and pleasant to communicate with. We are very satisfied with the work he has done for us. read more

I'm not one to write reviews on Yelp!, mainly because I always forget. However I couldn't pass up an opportunity to comment on Marcelo Electric. I live in Castro Valley and was told about this company through my dad. Roland is seriously the best! There is no better electrician in the area. Extremely professional, reasonable pricing, and always there when you need him. He's done work on my condo three times thus far and never disappoints. Thanks to Yelp! my dad found him and we will never try another electrician again. Marcelo electric it is! read more

My husband and I recently purchased a new gas stove and needed to have an Electrician come to our home to install a new circuit box. I notice Marcelo Electric had several "GOOD" reviews on Yelp. We called and scheduled an appointment and were impressed that Marcelo came to our house the following day and gave us a reasonable estimate. We had the work done the following day and want to say Thank You to Marcelo for doing a great job at an affordable price. My husband and I give Marcelo a five star rating. If you're looking for a Electrician who can do good work at an affordable price, we suggest you contact Marcelo Electric. Norma & Doug read more

I have an EV Charging Station at home that needed to be replaced (warranty replacement) and initially tried to do it myself. After determining that the original installer had it hard wired and it was way over my head, I decided to go with the professionals. I looked through Yelp and found Marcelo Electric and was pretty impressed with the rave reviews. Roland came to the house and inspected the original setup and was able to replace it with no issues. He also provided me with tips on installing these types of devices in case I were to move to another location, move it to another area, etc...which was very helpful. I also had him provide me with a quote for work in my patio area to install additional power outlets- to give me the ability to hang string lighting. His guidance and recommendations for my project is what you expect in a trusted contractor for your home. His rates are GREAT and his customer service is AWESOME. Those two qualities are all I need to continue doing business with Roland. Thanks again Marcelo Electric! read more

Very professional guy. He came in less than 30 minutes after I called. He checked our circuit breaker, all our outlets including bathroom vents. He even gave me valuable tips on safely using our appliances and you know what, he didn't charge me anything as the circuit breaker is fine. I would definitely call him again for my 2 bathroom vents installation. Two thumbs up! read more

We needed two ceiling fans installed and I called several (almost 12) certified electricians in the neighborhood (Fremont,CA). Roland, who owns Marcelo electric gave me the cheapest quote and had excellent reviews on Yelp. Decided to go with Roland and scheduled an appointment at 8AM in the morning. Roland showed up with his son and nephew for the install and they arrived on time. Started out the work almost immediately and got done installing both fans in 2.5 hours (there was no pre-existing wiring present). They were very professional, made just two holes in the ceiling and cleaned up after their work. Our house looked like no work had been done - it was that clean! I highly recommend Roland's team for any electrical work and plan on using him in the future. read more

They were totally awesome. I asked several electricians for estimates to install three pendant lights in my kitchen. They were the lowest bidders and did a perfect job. But that's not all. They finished before they anticipated--and they charged me less because of that! You can tell they run a professional and honest business. read more

Called Roland to install lighting in my back patio. He called back with in mnutes. Scheduled appt. and he was on time. Profssonal, Friendly,Fast,Fair. Highly Recomended read more

Great team! Excellent work. Very fast and they even cleaned up! Love all the new lights and will definitely have them do the rest of the lighting in the house. Happy customer! read more

My dad was having trouble with 3 of his sockets. Gave Marcelo Electric a call and told him my dad is a senior, and he cant do the work himself if he could stop by and check it out. I myself wasn't able to be there because I live out in Brentwood. He came by within an hour, checked everything and trouble shoot it to a wall switch. He was in and out in a half an hour. He didn't try to sell anything to my father, he just told him, its a bad switch and that was it. I was shocked that it didn't cost an arm and a leg. Not only that he was fast, the price was very reasonable. read more

I wanted to have a 240V 50AMP outlet installed in my garage for my EV. Roland and his son came out and installed two outlets with no issues. Work was very professional and as promised. Excellent work and reasonable prices! Can't ask for more. Will use his services again. I would definitely recommend his services. read more

Great Service. Very very prompt, Roland responds to emails unlike other businesses I tried to contact. He installed the NEMA 15-40 connection to charge my Tesla. The job was done professionally and when they left, the site was clean. Tesla gives a spec sheet and he followed it and told me why they spec it that way. What a great experience. I got quotes on recessed lighting throughout my house. When the time comes to install recessed lighting, I will be using this business. read more

So 2012 rolls around and we need Roland's electrical services again. This time for our new "old" house (circa 1966) which doesn't have any lighting installed in bedrooms, living room & family room. Wanted 28 LED recessed lights with dimmers and 3 outdoor plugs installed. We were already comfortable with the fact that Roland was a skilled electrician, but our concern was that this project might break the bank. Nope, more than reasonable pricing compared to another quote we got from a local electrical company that got really good reviews on Yelp! as well. The other quote did not even come close to Roland's. Took Roland & son(?) two days to complete the work. Wow! Affordable, fast and clean! And most importantly, we have LIGHT! read more

Roland is awesome! He just installed a ClipperCreek car charger at my home, and he was on time, super efficient, and really nice to work with. His estimate was extremely fair, and the end price was exactly what he quoted me. I would recommend Roland and Marcelo Electric to any of my family and friends, and I've found my go-to electrician for anything I need in the future. read more

We recently did a kitchen remodel. Complete gut and re-do, down to the studs. My younger brother recommended Marcelo Electric. His bid was very well done and explained all the work he was doing and everything that was included. There was no guess work. The price was super competitive so we went with him. Roland was very well mannered and explained all the work he was doing. Since this was only part of our complete job, we had to have him back three or four times. Rough in, some work during the cabinet install and finish trim out. He was always on time and Johnny on the spot when we needed him for the next part of his work. His work never slowed our project up. I would use Marcelo Electric for every future electrical job big or small. read more

Roland is phenomenal!! He has rewired our entire home to be up to code. My father has been remodeling homes for 20 years; he found Roland to be exceptional-- he does a great job and is great to work with. Thank you Roland for helping us fix our home! read more

Roland and his Marcelo Electric rock! Before calling Roland, I called a few other electricians to get quotes for two projects at my home. One is to fix an outlet issue and one is to add additional outlet in my main bath room. For the first one, all others gave a quote of $120, and they also gave $230 for the second one. When Roland came in, after a couple of minutes of examination, he told me some details of the potential issue. With my permission, he then started moving some boxes in my garage and fixed the issue right away! There is no charge at all. For the second one, he did the job perfectly and charged me much less than the quote from the others. Don't want to blame others, but Roland's professionalism and knowledge really impressed me. Will definitely use Roland again! read more

Marcelo is a superstar. I moved to a new house and had short circuit issues that caused two rooms and one bathroom electric malfunction. I called first another contractor who spent a lot of time chasing the root cause. But he suggested that I need to open the walls sheets to find where the issue is. That would have cost me few thousands. I called Marcelo for a second opinion. After about an hour, he was able to find the bad wire and fixed it with ease without opening any walls. It cost me less than one hundred dollar. I was very very happy! Thanks Marcelo! read more

I asked a few different electricians to bid on electric work for our home. While other bidders told me about some of the problems they foresaw with our job, which would add to the cost, Roland Marcelo didn't see those problems, and was the low bidder. But that's not why I went with him. I went with him because based on all the things he had told me during the initial walkthrough, he seemed to be the most knowledgeable electrician, and I felt confident that he would do the job right. The night before our appointment, I called him requesting some last minute changes/upgrades, and that I trusted him to give me a fair price for those after the job was done. He said it would be no problem, and after the job was done, the final price was LESS than the original estimate! That's the first time I've ever had someone charge less than their estimate. Roland and son did a great job with the installation. There was nothing to clean up after they left, and they were respectful to my wife who was working from home. The job was done perfectly. I couldn't find any flaws, and they even came up with a brilliant idea for installing an extra switch where I thought there was no room. I would definitely use Marcelo Electric again for future jobs, and I highly recommend them. read more

Marcelo electric did a fantastic job. They fixed my circuit breaker problem, replaced my three lights out front, replaced my pod lights in my family room. They showed up at 8 o'clock when they said they're going to be here right on time. Cleaned everything up afterwards, and price was very reasonable for the work that was done. Will use him for any of my electrical needs that come up. read more

I just had can lighting installed by Marcelo Electric. I was given estimates by a few different companies and Marcelo Electric was the best by far. They came to my home in San Ramon and installed can lighting. Roland and his team was very professional and did an excellent job. Roland is also very knowledgeable in answering all my questions. I highly recommend him and his team for all your electrical needs. They came on time and completed the job in a timely manner. Thanks again for your service. read more

I noticed the black smoke coming out of the outlet after vacuuming. The hot outlet and the continuing buzzing sound scared me. I wanted to find the reliable electrician quickly. After seeing the great review on Yelp, I contacted Roland. He came to the house at 5pm (I couldn't get off work earlier) and fixed the problem very quickly. When I mentioned that there were other outlets I was concerned with, he checked every single one of them and found that the work done by an electrician 3 years ago, who had charged me an arm and a leg, had messed the wiring. He has excellent knowledge, works very fast and very friendly. He said he loves his job and you can see that. When it was time for me to pay for his service, he charged me only for the materials he used, but not his time. During the conversation, I had mentioned about the fund raising I was hosting on the weekend and he said that he was donating his time. I was stunned. He spent more than an hour! Not only he is an excellent electrician but also has great heart. No more looking for an electrician as long as he stays in business! read more

Excellent service!!! We built a new house. Not only were they the most reasonable quote, but they were just amazing. The main guy (I think owner) is named Roland. He made the stress of the project fun and easy. He came to adjust things whenever needed. He was very knowledgeable. He was always on time. We had many sub-contractors for our house build. He was by far the most professional and stress - free sub that we used. We still use their services whenever we need anything electric - they just installed our tv and all of our surround sound. If you need an electrician, look no further. Without a doubt, you will be very happy. read more

Just had Marcelo Electric to our home again! 6 months ago installed & mounted our flat screen TV and put in ceiling lights. Did a FABULOUS job. Today 6 new "can" ceiling lights in the Master bedroom, plus installed ceiling fan and did 3 more little "honey-do" chores for my husband! (cutting off A/C electric on the roof, lights in the basement, outdoor plug, etc.). Roland and his son had it done by noon! Fast, reliable, dependable, honest and reasonable! HIGHLY recommend! They even cleaned up after the work was done! read more

Having used Roland for a number of jobs I felt I needed to update my first rating. He is the absolute best. There is no one better, end of story. No job is too small. He works with purpose and his great prices are matched only by his great personality. You can easily hire some high end, big named electrical company but I think you're doing yourself an injustice when you have someone like Roland at your disposal. Try Marcelo Electric and I think you'll be glad you read this review.. read more

This past weekend my wife's grandparent's house lost electricity in Union City. They called PG&E and told them they need to find an electrician to get the power on. I had electrical problem that I talked to several people and Lowe's electrician. All have no conclusion that I decided to look up yelp.com and came across Marcelo Electric. I called and talked to Roland. He is very patient to listen to my issue and explained couple times for the cause and suggestion. I got the problem fixed without having the electrician to come in. I'm happy and very appreciate Roland's advise and decided to write the review. Definitely is a nice guy read more

Found him on Yelp and gave him a call since he was in Union City. My restaurant walk in cooler light burned out and when a new bulb wouldn't work it was time to call an electrician. Today was the fourth time working with Marcelo Electric for us, and I am still happy as ever! He installed a 220V connection for our Tesla, and did a very neat and clean job. After two weeks of going without electricity in about a third of my home, I called Marcelo Electric. This is a great mom & pop operation! When I called, I spoke to Maria, the owner's wife. She promptly called her husband (the owner/electrician), Roland, and within 15 minutes, I received a call from him & scheduled an appointment for later that day. He came right when he said he would. He's very thorough & I had some serious problems, so this was not going to be an easy fix. Unfortunately, I had to go before he could finish, and I was busy the next day, so he actually offered to come at 7:30am in the morning before his first appointment. And there he was the next day waiting in his white van in front of my house at 7:15am. And sure enough, he had the problem solved within an hour and even fixed other problems he saw without me bringing them to his attention. In addition, the cost was a lot less than I expected. If you ever need an electrician, I highly recommend Roland & Marcelo Electric. read more
