    Pepperoni Pizza!!!

    O. M. G. I know I can be a cynic and hard on places. Marcella's blew my mind. My wife use to live in this area and while we were driving though she said we should stop for lunch I'm so glad we did!!! It's a joke in the was, BUT NOT A DIVE!!! Quite the opposite! Ver upscale! Feels like a Chicago pizza row in the heart of small town! It's aviation themed and every spot has something unique. The walls to the ceiling are decorated. My honest favorite part... the music play list! Had some modern but followed with Frank and the boys!!! We got in early and I'm glad we did because they were filled shortly after opening. Even being busy, the staff kept up with our drinks and the pizza was to die for! They bring you a couple of their famous garlic rolls to start. I enjoy garlic and they did not leave you hanging! I almost wish there was something inside the rolls or on top? Maybe some parmesan cheese? I don't know. Either way! Amazing! The pizza was great and the sauce tastes homemade! Kind of sweet but man was it good!! (I love sweet sauces!)

We stopped in for a late lunch while passing through. We were a little concerned looking at the outside but once in the doors everything was great. There as amazing memorabilia everywhere. If you get a chance to visit make sure to take some time and look around. We ordered small (we thought) ..... To accompany my half order of lasagne I decided to take a chance and tried the creamy mushroom soup. It was delicious. My wife got a small (7 in) pizza and the Cesear salad (which was hugh, we both ate some and didn't finish it all). The entrees were large, hot, and made with fresh ingredients. We shared both and were stuffed. The staff was friendly and laughed at my lame jokes. My only complaint is that they don't have sweet tea, but the raspberry tea was good. Can't wait to come back.

Extremely glad I made the short trip. Tortello has a casual feel: you order up front before you are seated. I ordered the cacio e pepe, plus foccacia with honey and ricotta as an appetizer. The latter was an excellent combination of flavors and textures, the savory and crunchiness of the bread with the soft creaminess and (not overwhelming) sweetness of the cheese and honey. The cacio e pepe had a high bar to clear as a result, but did so handsomely. The pasta had a pleasant bite, and the pepper and cheese were excellent. In short, a great experience. I look forward to coming here when it isn't 5 degrees outside!

There's a light casual feel because you order at the counter, but table service is still on point and prices match the white table clothes. I've walked past many times wanting to stop for dinner but they're often packed. It's first come first serve. So we lucked out with an impromptu dinner on a cold rainy evening. The heaters were on in their outdoor patio so we sat outside which can be quite romantic if you don't mind the squeeze. I most enjoyed the seasonal duck pasta (Pappardelle all'Anatra) and the focaccia with ricotta and honey; although their classic Tagliattelle Tina (popular dish denoted with a heart on the menu) was hearty and rich. Truth be told, we selected our dishes based on what we could not so easily recreate at home. And we were not disappointed!

Unfortunately, that perfect evening didn't just take a turn... it drove straight off a cliff. Seven of us ordered appetizers and full meals, and everything hit the table looking and tasting great--except for one unfortunate burger that was so thoroughly charred it could've doubled as a hockey puck. Our friend tried to power through it (because who wants to complain?), but eventually realized it just wasn't edible. They politely asked if it could be remade or replaced. Simple enough, right? Wrong. About 20 minutes later--after everyone else had finished eating--we weren't met with a replacement, but with what I can only assume was the owner, who approached with an accusatory tone that immediately made the entire table uncomfortable. Instead of resolving the issue quietly, she marched back from the kitchen holding the same burnt burger and presented it like courtroom evidence, as if we were on trial for daring to send it back. At that point, we were all sitting there in disbelief. Was this really happening? Then came the comment: essentially suggesting that next time, we should say something before eating most of it--despite the fact that our group had spent plenty on food and drinks and clearly wasn't angling for a free burger. The implication alone was enough to sour the entire experience. To "fix" things, she offered to comp the burger (which we had already declined) and, as we were leaving, handed over a $20 gift card--as if that could somehow erase the awkwardness, embarrassment, and frankly rude treatment we had just experienced. It couldn't. What should have been a minor kitchen mistake turned into a bizarre and uncomfortable scene, all because of how it was handled. Mistakes happen--burnt burgers happen--but treating paying customers like they're trying to pull one over on you? That's a choice. It's a real shame, because the night had been so enjoyable up until that moment. But after witnessing that level of unprofessional and unpleasant behavior, it's hard to imagine returning. Do better. Seriously.
