Upon arriving you can either park in front off Merrick Rd, or there is a parking lot and additional entrance in the back. I was scheduled with Victoria for a blowout - she was very friendly and easy to talk too, and most importantly, she listened to what I wanted! I initially wanted to try a blowout with curls, but let her know I usually opt for straight hair, so I may or may not like the curls despite my request to try something different. After curling my hair, which originally looked great, unfortunately the style itself was just not for me. She was very easy to provide feedback too and let me know her main priority was that I walked out happy. We worked together until the style was right, and I walked out loving my hair!!

The staff was nice, the salon was clean and pleasant and didn't smell like harsh chemicals or smoke (you'd be surprised by how many do). It had a subtle ambiance perfect for a weekend cut. I had Lisa cut my hair and besides the wash, she was the only person doing my hair. That was so unexpected because at other salons I would have multiple people doing my hair due to double or triple booking and only have the main stylist check in every now and then. I was so happy to have the focus entirely on me especially because I was super nervous as I have had bad experience with salons before. Lisa was patient and knew exactly what I wanted from my brief description. She did the cut in steps so I wouldn't be too shell shocked by the end result and asked for my feedback about layering. Most people who hear the words "I haven't gotten a haircut in a while" immediately want to push a full chop onto their client, but Lisa evaluated my hair and suggested we keep the length and even out the ends/cut off all the dead hair. She gave me a bunch of tips about maintaining my hair's health so I can get it to the next stage that I want (eventual bleach). And on top of that, the cut was extremely affordable!!! I found out my friend Alyssa just got a job here and I try my best to support my friends so I made an appointment with her. She was unfortunately running late so I almost went with a different hairdresser but Alyssa walked into her station right before the other hairdresser was going to cut my hair and she gave me right over to Alyssa. I appreciate that this other hairdresser wasn't trying to client steal. I don't know her name but the integrity is appreciated. Alyssa is my new soul hairdresser. She's younger than I am but we still got along, we gelled over some common traits including crazy colored hair and tattoos and trainwreck behavior. I love what she did with my hair. She did a bob and it's not too short, not too long, it's slammin'. I've been box coloring my own hair but I think I'm going to come back here for color if I can budget for it and not spend money on something else. My son came with me for this appointment and he was amazing during the appointment. I'll try my best to come without him but I appreciate that he was allowed in the shop with me because sometimes you have to take your kid. I loved this place and I love Alyssa!!!!

A nice gentleman Mister Josh came over to offer me a cup of coffee and bagel. I was immediately impressed and Miss Marcy came over to introduce and have a pre consultation. We agree on my cut, conditioner and color. My next introduction was to a very nice Technician Deana to wash my hair. A treatment was applied and I sat under the dryer. I made my appointment for a full head of highlights weeks in advanced. Val suggested I highlight my crown since the hair at the nape of neck had some breakage. I was ok with that but, she still could have given me at least a half a head of highlights. The breakage was minimal, at the base of my neck and unnoticeable. I told Val I loved her Instagram and wanted exactly that - icy white highlights. The colorist I previously went to made my hair orange and I said I am looking to avoid that. She nodded as if she understood what I was saying. I asked for a blow out when we are done but, Val said she didn't have time and was running behind. I don't know how that is possible since she just cut my appointment in half by only highlighting my crown and not my whole head. Throughout the appointment Val seemed preoccupied and was on her cell phone most of the time. She seemed like she was rushing not because she was behind but because she wanted to get out of there like she had somewhere else she needed to be. I left the salon with a wet head and paid $275 for my highlights in my crown area. When I got home, I blew out my hair and noticed I had brassy orange spots throughout. I messaged Val on Instagram letting her know and she became pretty defensive and unhelpful. She was arguing with me that the orange I was seeing is from the previous colorist, she said I could come in and she would put more highlights in. She said she would get back to me with a time and day .. obviously that never happened. She just didn't seem to care at all and the NEW highlights were done incorrectly. Below is a photo of the freshly done color by Val and my old color done 4 months prior. I also posted a photo of my hair after 2 washes - the toner/gloss is clearly not there anymore and the brass/orange is even more pronounced. Like I said this was my first time there and my last. I wish Val cared and took her time with my hair like the work she post on her Instagram but, I did not get that customer service.

I initially reached out to speak with the manager/owner regarding an issue my mother experienced while scheduling an appointment. I was told by Nicole that the owner, Sheryl was finishing with a client and would call me back around 3:00 PM. That call never came. I followed up at 4:00 PM and was then told the owner had already left for the day but would call me once she got home. Again, no call was received. The original concern was regarding my mother's appointment. As a Mother's Day gift, I purchased her a Groupon for highlights so she could treat herself and enjoy the experience. She successfully booked an appointment for next Saturday at 11:00 AM and later received a call at 5:53 PM that same day asking whether she would be paying full price or using Groupon. Once she confirmed it was a Groupon appointment, the tone of the conversation noticeably changed and she was told she would now need to wait an additional 2-3 weeks because that stylist "doesn't take Groupons." We were then told this policy is outlined in Groupon fine print and that Groupon appointments must be scheduled weeks out. However, I reviewed the Groupon details thoroughly and could not find any language stating that only certain stylists accept Groupon appointments or that there is a required waiting period. My concern isn't simply availability, it's the inconsistency and lack of transparency. If restrictions exist for Groupon customers, they should be clearly disclosed before appointments are booked, not after confirmation. It was disappointing that something purchased as a Mother's Day gift ended up becoming stressful and left us feeling like the appointment became an issue only once the payment method was disclosed. I was hoping to resolve this directly before leaving a review, but after multiple promises of a callback that never happened, I felt it was important to share our experience.
