I had my hair colored which costed $85. They upsold it for $25 toner and $20 blow out. I tried the hot oil massage for $6 and it was not worth anything to mentioned as I read on reviews. The lady with the shortest hair cut, cackled the entire time and probably massage my head for 2 seconds for this hot oil massage. The workers work fast and the cackling lady pulled my earrings twice till 1 fell out of my earlobe, thought I'd lose my ear really. So imagine how hard she must have tugged a hooked small hoop which for 22 years has never been yanked at the pool, gym or on the soccer field. The vibe is not professional. read more

I got a haircut, blowout with straightening on Sunday. I called at 9:30am to see if they can fit me in for a 10am appointment same day and they were able to accommodate me. I was greeted by a friendly employee and the person who washed my hair was great and efficient. The guy who cut my hair (I forgot his name) was outstanding. I have thin hair and lost a lot of hair due to anesthesia and I was pleased with the cut and style I was provided. The haircut was quick and affordable. I paid around $35 and my hair was long (plus cut/ blow out/straighten). For an affordable and great service, the stylist and hair washer were appreciative of my tip. My hair feels soft and healthy. DO NOT waste your money at this place!! The girl washing my hair didn't even listen to my request and was rude. When i got to the stylist I asked her to use heat protectant since i color my hair and was given a hard time about it. She was using 2 blow dryers which is way too much heat! I asked her to curl my hair using an iron so it would last a few days for Christmas (normally my hair curled lasts a week). It's only been 48hrs and my hair look awful. Usually I go for a blowout because I have really long hair and love the way it looks. However today, I was pressured into getting a trim. I don't know who was doing my hair but he kept telling me to get a trim. I eventually gave in and told him to make sure to not cut off that much. He didn't listen. My hair was almost down to my butt. and now it's at the center of my back which is minimum 5 inches short than I went in with-- after two years of growing it out to a length I'm happy with. I am so upset about this. I never get my hair cut for this reason and I made a big mistake in trusting this place with my hair. The blow outs are great but I am so upset and probably won't come back. I have an update: I've been trying to get myself to like my hair cut or just get used to it-- I've been straightening my hair every so often or going in with the blowdryer and it's official: this is the worst hair cut I've ever gotten. A detail I forgot to mention before was that I told them my hair was angled. The guy said "no it's not" and cut it straight it across. His reasoning "angled doesn't look good with your type of hair" I'm never coming back again it's been decided. read more

Came here for the first time because someone recommended to me. When they wash your hair you get to actually lay down. I did the $6 hot oil treatment which turned the hair washing experience into a 10min neck/scalp massage and pamper. It was great and worth the $6. My blow out came out great- I asked for curly/bouncy. They actually used brushes and left them in my hair to create the curl it was pretty cool. For the blow out, hot oil and paying by credit card (tax) was $27.30 and about 45mins. Would definitely come back. read more

However, the shampoo lady was unbelievably rough, yanking at my hair, even after I asked her to be gentle. During my blowout I was tugged and pulled while she struggled to manage my longer hair. Its like a nail salon for Hair. Quick, rushed, rough,impersonal & hard to communicate. Went there because of reviews. Maybe it might be a great spot for Blows outs. Fair price & lots of walkins which is convenient. But went there for a Balayage & had to go back. After 5 1/2 hours of foil on my head & emphasizing what I wanted & show Picture, , they did not do as asked. Went back to have added pieces and was charged almost the same price as the 1st time ($230 , then $180) IWas given the price of $180 because they said they remembered me & would include a haircut in that price which I thought was fair. Well after sitting there another 5 hours they still didnt do all of what was asked. When it came to the "Haircut" they provided.....Literally just freehanded with 1 hand maybe 1/8 of an inch Just off the bottom. I was shocked & even said, thats it? ... wheres my trimmed hair on the floor? They was nothing on the floor. Hardly ANYTHING taken off, Took her all of 3mins, What a joke. The cherry on top was that they also charged me additional $9 for using Debit Card without the courtesy of letting me know there was any service fee. Went in ready to get a touch up and ended up getting some balayage highlights as well. Jeffrey was awesome and did almost exactly what was in the picture I showed him (the person in the photo had slightly different hair than me-so I knew it would be a tiny bit different). To be honest, I've gone to other, pricier salons in the past and have never been as happy with my hair. Been here a few times before for touch up as and cuts and have left equally as happy. I went to have my hair blown out with Angels not straightened after I told the person I don't want it straightened but whatever it didn't matter once it was done. Then I tip the washers and the person that didn't my sisters hair and went to go tip the person that did my hair even though he didn't do what I wanted and I was dragged in one arm by a lady and the other arm by the person who did my hair to tip the person that did my hair. Good/bad review: 4 stars for price/service only. If you have thick, curly hair and go for occasional wash/blow outs this is a good place for that with some issues to keep in mind. They are fast and efficient. There are basic NYS pandemic protocols that most salons are following and J1 is doing bare minimum by keeping doors open and wearing masks. No disinfecting of chairs between people and basic separation. No clean hairbrushes ever. Take a look at how much hair is balled up in every brush. It's like they're never cleaned. As someone who is immunocompromised, I hope for some kind of NYS protocols to be followed. So while the service is acceptable, if you're concerned about protocols and basic safety during a pandemic, I recommend you pay more and go to a place taking better precautions. read more

I show up on time and say who I am there for...3 rude ppl wearing masks are yelling at me from across the room, finally a women approaches me and says the girl no work on Tuesday....I say I called sunday....oh it changed. The wash was the best hair washing I've ever experienced. They scrub your head as you lay back and relax. They added a hot oil treatment for 6$. And a quick massage of my neck at the end felt great. This place uses unlicensed staff to do chemical processes-that is illegal! They admittedly made a mistake on my hair tried to correct it only to make it worse. I later found out they used an different product than I paid for. I paid for magic sleek, a formaldehyde-free straighten product, but they used another product using formaldehyde then blamed their mistake on me- and wouldn't rectify the matter -I actually had to call the police because they locked me in the salon. I will make it my mission to ensure this place doesn't continue their illegal practices. Horrible horrible horrible!!!! Not coming back. I have been to this salon maybe 8-10 times for a blow out since their grand opening. I finally found a hair dresser that knows how to handle my thick hair and blow it out beautifully. Only problem,I call ahead to make an appointment with this specific hairdresser, when I arrive they tell me she's too busy or she needs to go eat her lunch now, and I have to have someone else do my hair. Or I show up early for my appointment and I sit and wait for 45 minutes. Isn't the purpose of the appointment to avoid this? This has happened to me more than 5 times and I'm sick of it. I have very thick, coarse and frizzy hair. I'm always weary of getting a blow out at places because it usually frizzed up quickly and I wound up doing a pony tail which is just a waste. But j1 did a great job both times I've been there. The hot oil treatment is a must. The shampoo girl is wonderful and I tip her very well because she's that awesome. They stylists use two dryers on my head and finish it off with the flat iron and I'm very pleased with the results. I'm going to try them for color next time I need a touch up. read more
