Today,…read more11/30/2025....what an awful interaction with a miserable women that I was later told is a store manager. I was having a hard time finding a book by James Fell, a fairly well known author. I asked her where I could find his books and instead of simply looking this up I got a nasty face, and a disdainful "I don't know who that is. Are you sure that's the right name?" Not her words...her tone and demeanor. SMH. Another employee, right nearby, assisted me, found the book in seconds and was on his way. No...I didn't buy it. Principle. I passed her again later and got another dirty look....really? Another issue entirely...is there a good reason that there are novels...many novels.... in the religion section? Inquiring minds would like to know. I hadn't been in this store in quite some time...won't return any time soon. Changed and not for the better. FTR...everyone else that I spoke to in the store, aside from the rude manager, was quite pleasant, friendly, and helpful. Wow, B & N...Amazon is eating you. Do better.

They specialize in 19th and 20th century English and American literature, which means you're going to see a lot of titles you're familiar with. I stopped in late in their day, so I wasn't surprised to be the only one there, but the team gave me space, answered very basic questions I had, and - gasp - LET ME TOUCH THE BOOKS. This is far from a stuffy environment, and when I finally convince my partner that I need that very expensive piece that has F. Scott Fitzgerald's music for Princeton, I know exactly where I'll go.

Well, 45 minutes later, I was still oohing and awing at the marvelous selection of first edition books they have to offer. This is the largest selection (aside from corporate-owned Bauman's) of rare books I've seen that include the dust jacket- a collectors actual dream. It's the biggest breath of fresh air to find a rare book store owned by a woman, and to be treated like a human being. I normally get side-eyed from rare bookstore owners and some of the conversations I've had sound like: "May I see the Portrait of a Lady in the case?" "All of these books are at least $100.00 and up." ".....I know." "Do you have any Wilde?" "The book about the woman hiking alone? That's too new to be in our shop, Barnes & Noble would have it." "I'm talking about the 1800s poet." "Oh." I take it personally because while I look like a millennial who doesn't know what she's talking about, I treasure my rare books like they're my children. Sunday stayed AN EXTRA HOUR at her store while I looked and answered all of my questions that I had, never making me feel rushed or unwelcome. After selecting a first edition Fitzgerald, she wrapped it in bubble wrap for my travels back home and gave me an updated book with all of the rare book sellers in the country.

However, the volunteer there named Andrew brings the place down to the dumps. He is unhelpful and lazy, and when you ask him any questions (even something as simple as where you can find X book...), he responds as if he's completely bothered by the fact that you dared ask him in the first place. He comes with bucketloads of attitude and eye-rolls. I hope the library replaces him with a volunteer who can interact with people on a normal level because Andrew just drives people away. I will very willingly go somewhere else to look for discounted books than have to deal with the diva. ANDREW - newsflash...you can't just sit around and do nothing during the time you volunteer, so if you don't want to volunteer there, then don't!

Went to Bed Bath and Beyond in the same mall and am a Barnes and Noble member, so I stopped by…read more It's a small one, but with so many closures, I'm glad it exists. My six year old niece asked for fun books to read so I went right to the children's section. A sales associate offered help and guided me to some books I thought she'd enjoy. And of course I had to pick up the discounted Christmas cards for book lovers for next year. During the pandemic, my recipients seem to have enjoyed getting a card in the mail, like old times. As a fan of actual books- I still don't have an e-reader, I recommend Barnes and Noble. They have ebooks also. Toys and games, planners, and calendars here too.

I'm happy to see that this location is still going strong. I remember being a new mom looking for…read morethings to do with my kiddos, and repeatedly bringing them here when they were very young for a number of Junior events. Everything from craft events, to read alouds, and Lego builds. Each staff member I've met here has been very friendly and super helpful in finding anything I needed. This is a great place to read, study, or just have a quiet moment. When I've come to this location, I always find it organized, and clean ... something very welcoming when you are a busy parent! The attached Starbucks cafe upstairs is great for grabbing a light refreshment. Baristas behind the counter can help you make drinks that meet the familiar Starbucks standard. Cookies and pastries can be heated to order on site. Pro tip, almost always with your store purchase, you will get a coupon for a dollar off something in the cafe.
