Plenty of cabinet space and drawers. The kitchen also has a large double stainless steel sink and faucet. The wall across from the kitchen has a large closet for storage and also a full size GE washing machine and dryer. The living room has plenty of room for a large recliner, a grandfather clock, a 65 inch Samsung TV and a large double door cabinet where I have my 27 inch iMac computer. Between the recliner and outside wall I also have a 36"x36" pedestal table, where I have a large hammered copper lamp with shade. The two walls forming the corner behind the recliner and grandfather clock, have two large glass windows covered by Venetian blinds. Moving through the lockable door into the bedroom there is room enough for a queen sized bed, and a three drawer cabinet with lamp. The outside wall has a large window covered with Venetian blinds. Sliding double doors lead into a closet with plenty of room for hanging shirts, and with shelves that hold baskets for socks, and underwear. Under the shelf on the right there is room for a large four drawer cabinet where I can store pajamas and a large collection of various shoes. A single sliding door leads into a spacious bathroom, complete with a shower, toilet, and lavatory. There are two spacious cabinets and drawers next to the shower. Another reason I picked this third floor apartment is that it is located next to the fire escape stairs. I never use the elevators because I like the exercise I get walking up and down the stairs. My apartment is also located at the very end of this wing of The Reserve apartment complex. Consequently I don't hear or see any of my neighbors. Thanks for your time and attention. Infected employees were not immediately removed from duty, isolated, or replaced. There was no proper quarantine, masking enforcement, contact tracing, or notification to residents or their families. This exposed vulnerable senior residents, many with underlying medical conditions, to serious risk of illness. The staff were not given proper PPE or guidance on usage of PPE The Executive Director is an arrogant rude unprofessional disrespectful clown and a disgusting jerk who treats his staff especially in Assisted living as dirt. The food is unhygienic, bland and not worth for human consumption and the kitchen is infested with roaches and bugs. Unfortunately the dietary needs of residents are not taken in consideration. The hallways smell of urine and stale mold The elevator has been broken and non functional multiple times in Assisted living. Not to mention flooding of rooms is common during any rains.. The maintainance is equally despicable and pathetic.. and very slow to respond or too careless to respond.¹ This facility is not worth any negative stars.

We were told it is never to early to start looking, and I wanted my mother to have a say in where she goes. This process is so overwhelming. Angel (same name as me, hehehe) the Executive Director is very knowledgeable. She was honest and upfront. She cared more about my mother then trying to make a sale. She gave us advise, and told us things to specifically ask for when touring facilities. The staff were warm and friendly, everyone had a smile on their face. We came at the perfect time and were able to participate in the ladies tea club. I was so surprised to see how many residents lived there that didn't appear to have dementia, that really put my mother at ease too. Some places we toured everyone seemed very far advanced, and it really scared us. My mother and I both sat in the car crying after one tour. When we left Colonial Gardens we felt good, like there is hope at the end of this dark tunnel. When the time comes, we will be back. I posted some photos so you can see how great it looks.

There are more and more Alzheimer stories that we all hear but now, I know first hand, just how horrific the whole situation is. Not can be, might be, IT IS AWFUL FOR EVERYONE! We visited all available facilities in our area and feel so very fortunate to have discovered Colonial Gardens. I wish that I had the know how and or/skills to get the word out about this facility because with the increase in numbers coming our way, there should be more built like them! The place has only 16 residence. It is modeled after a home of the era of the residence early life. They all have their own room and bathroom. They are given private showers. They share a nice cozy living room on one side with a large dinning room on the other. A deck and beautiful backyard are off the dinning room. There is lots of outside light shinning thru and the place is absolutely always clean. Upon entering there is always a pleasant aroma or you smell something good cooking for mealtime. We have been with them for almost one full year now. We are a very large family so my father has at least one visitor every single day so we feel comfortable that his care is consistent and good. We learned of the great difficulties of the disease from the years of home care prior to his move to Colonial. Therefore, we have great respect and deep appreciation for the folks who choose to work in this profession. Unfortunately, there is frequent turnover in the staff because the industry does not at this time, adequately compensate these professionals. We are fortunate at Colonial, because the management works hard to find folks that bring a good work ethic and a good heart with them every day. I do hope that as a society, we get this corrected soon. While I absolutely hate that my father is not at home with us, I know he is actually receiving better care than we did and or could provide him at home. He is moving thru his days at his own pace, doing what he wants to do and he is safe, content and cared for my many.

While some individual staff members…read morewere great and I think truly cared about my mother, much of the staff in unhappy, overworked and disengaged. This goes back to the management of this facility who's only goal is to provide prison quality care. The things I saw and experienced while my mom was here are frightening. I saw unattended elderly patients left on the floor as they slid out of their wheelchairs. They have what appears to be VERY FEW staff members overnight, leaving patients that require round the clock care neglected. They allowed my quadriplegic mother to fall out of her bed twice, sending her to the hospital for brain scans. It was often unclear who was "in charge". The support from the social worker was nearly nonexistent. My wife filed a complaint with the state. I would urge anyone considering this facility to find another. The last straw was when we called to ask about my mother's status and one of the nurses responded "I don't have time for this shit!". We are at Westminster on MoPac now, which seems a million times more professional. I don't know where all the money the families and insurance companies pay is going to, but very little is flowing back to the facility. Most is likely going to the high net worth investors that make up the ownership of Juniper Village as part of its real estate "portfolio". If the thought of your loved one silently lying on the floor, ignored and abandoned like my mother was, wondering when someone would discover her after she bashed her head in on the night stand due to an improperly configured hospital bed fills you with dread AVOID JUNIPER!

I found myself with the same concerns fairly recently. My mother needed additional care I could not provide so i began the evaluation process for assisted living options. After an extensive search, I identified Juniper at Spicewood Summit as the ideal home away from home for her. I wanted a warm and welcoming community with quality care, and committed professionals who would value and nurture her. I was surprised at how protective I became of her and that I did not want to trust just anyone with that care. Fortunately for me, Juniper at Spicewood Summit has lived up to my expectations and more. As a result, my mother has experienced a new chapter in her life, and it is stimulating and fun! She enjoys the nutritional meals and gracious dining and never misses a washing a dish or cleaning the table. Her days are filled with a variety of activities by the creative Connections Director. There are opportunities for music, gardening, exercise, special performances from the community, guest speakers, games, holiday celebrations, parties, and spiritual encouragement. Everyday is a day to celebrate at Juniper. Best of all she does this with her colleagues at the facility. My mother has developed a new hobby, leather crafting, and she is over 100! It is never too late to explore new things at Juniper! Because of the medical team, the caring staff, and the leadership of the administration, I know my mother is in the best place I can find for her. Best of all, I am always welcome and greeted with warm hospitality when I visit her. In fact, I am there almost everyday so I see the consistent effort everyone makes to keep the quality of care at the highest level. It is comforting to know she is happy and well cared for, and I wish the same for your loved one. I wish you every success as you identify the perfect place for your beloved family member. I hope you will consider Juniper at Spicewood Summit as a possibility. I believe you will find it a loving and caring place to live!
