It's not the best gyro in town, but it's a good size, a good value, and it just always seems like the perfect amount Marathon is a bit dark and woody inside, but somewhat charming with the sporty-yet-randomdecor. I love coming here and have somehow never remembered to leave a review! We swung by randomly on a Saturday afternoon for some jaeger bombs... ended up grabbing some snacks and a beer after. They were relatively empty, a few people there when we arrived and maybe two or three groups came in before we left. My brother and his fiancé jumped on the touch toons and played a lot of good music, our waitress approved as well, we played a few just for her. Our waitress was super friendly, quick to get orders and bring drinks, she checked in a lot too. Very good service. First of all, this is a historic Portland divey sports bar that is owned by a Greek family and has a phenomenal vibe and staff. All the girls that work there are absolute babes. You'll love this place if you like a "manager" losing their temper and throwing a drink all over you/other clientele and acting like a toddler because "his daddy owns the bar." The wait staff is great outside of the incel son who is over compensating for something else. This man got aggressive with everyone in our group and pulled a glass from my friend's hand throwing it all over other clients around us. Yes, we were in the wrong because we were unaware of a very specific law that says you can't drink from a pitcher. There are better and more tactful ways to handle clients, such as "hey I actually can't have you drink from the pitcher like that." When you're lucky enough to be here on not a game night or when college kids aren't on break, this is a good place to get a beer and good simple Greek food to go. On any of those nights, it's the worst service and the worst limited menu. It doesn't matter if it's busy, they just love an excuse to make the experience worse. I very rarely leave bad reviews, but my friend and I came here after a Thorns game yesterday and they deserve it. Both of us have been here before, but it's been a while. We walked in and sat at the bar. We sat there, in front of the bartenders for 15 minutes while they all avoided eye contact and took the orders of anyone else who walked up to the bar. We had to basically light ourselves on fire to get a drink. Meanwhile, the woman sitting next to us was super drunk and slurring while getting all the attention she wanted. I'm not sure, but it sort of felt like we were getting dissed because we were men, and the bartenders were all women and so were almost all of the other people sitting at the bar. That's ok, you live and learn. We finished one drink and went over to the Civic taproom and had great service and no attitude. read more

Two offerings of $3 breakfast plates that are filling. Feeling kind of spendy? Cool, get more of their affordable menu items because this place won't charge you more than a reasonable price. Drinks: Good amount of taps that span the spectrum. I'm a dive bar enthusiast, and this was the dive of my dreams. Sooo, sooooo old school, dingy & gross looking (but clean)...I loved every bit of it. My friends weren't as thrilled as me and kinda feared for their lives but I was in my element. I'm sure it's a bit more lively at night, but the daytime crowd consists of a few senior citizens who look like they're on their last leg. Hey, I fully intend to spend my golden years on a barstool too, so no judgement from me. Beats sitting home and knitting a scarf! They have a great menu and the food is sooooooo cheap but really good at the same time. HUGE portions too! The three of us had lunch entrees and could barely make a dent in them, I had a bloody mary, and they both had sodas and the check was less than $30. Couldn't believe it. AND THEY HAVE SLOT MACHINES. They're through the Oregon lottery so I suppose they're common in Portland but I was in heaven. My friends were in a hurry to GTFO so I only got to pay for a few minutes...but I won $30! read more
