I was referred to Dr Marat Tselnik and couldn't be happier…read more I was terrified of the experience after talking to friends & family members who had had a root canal & their experience with root canals were not good. But I was experiencing delayed pain & my dentist couldn't figure which tooth it was. So I reluctantly made an appointment with Dr Tselnik. Scheduling an appointment was easy, the ladies quickly get back to you to let you know what your insurance covers. I was a bit concerned as the establishment is located downtown Oregon City & parking can be difficult. But quickly found that they have their own parking behind their building. The office is quaint & impeccable. I was very stressed knowing what I was walking into & all I can think is PAIN! Have no fear is all I can say. Two days later the pain was so bad, tears were just a runneth. Met with Dr Tselnik & waisted no time in Xraying. After reviewing the X-rays & examining my teeth it was determined I had a cracked tooth that needed a root canal. He thoroughly explained what could be done & the alternatives with absolutely no pressure. I decided to do the root canal, thinking I had to make another appointment for another day but he made time & decided to have the root canal the same day. I had explained my fear of pain that he quickly put me at ease, besides him been easy on the eyes. By far this was my best experience ever! And I wish he practiced more than endodonics. His bedside manners, his staff are what you would expect from a top notch Doctor that he is.

I did one star, not for the Pioneer Dental Group dental work, but for the billing department…read more Be careful when making an appointment with them, because the term "Routine Cleaning" and "Preventative Cleaning" is a $250 difference! The billing people at their front desk told me that "Preventative Cleaning" is not covered. I checked with my insurance and, sure enough, it is not covered as of the first of the year. January 2026: HOWEVER, I am disappointed, because I told them that the quality of the dental assistant procedure was more like a 'Routine' and not a 'Preventative' procedure. I have had several done, so feel that I know the difference. July 2026: I made appointment and explained at the desk that I the cleaning the the insurance pays for 2 times in a one year period; in other words, a 'Routine' cleaning. Then the front desk person told me that my cleanings are not covered since the New Year. On that July visit and the fact that that I understood that both the 'Routine' and 'Preventative' procedures were not covered, (also some 'in-network' and 'out of network' problem), so I went ahead and paid the $250 bill by VISA at the front desk. Turns out, it was covered! In my opinion, and if I interpreted this correctly, the front desk person said what she said in order to get my payment. I have since challenged this through my insurance. So far, no decision on reimbursement from my insurance. Again and In addition, I was confused regarding information that my dentist was 'in network' or 'out of network'; was he or wasn't he? Why should a patient need to be involved in this when an appointment was made when my dentist was 'in network' and then discover, when I went to the appointment, that he was 'out of network'! Lastly, an additional $40 for 2 extra bite-wing x-rays. My x-rays are covered, but apparently they took 2 extra x-rays over the limit. It is just sad that this dental office does not inform the patient during the treatment that there may be extra charges. I hope this is not the normal practice of all dental groups. I will pay the $40 grudgingly; but I am pondering the idea of changing dental offices. Please, be up front with a patient. Let the patient know if there may be any extra charges during the visit BEFORE treatment is done. Let any insurance changes over the New Year be known to the patient.

Great office. I've never been to an Endodontist and didn't even know I needed one, until...I did!…read more Dr. Bayat and the entire staff did an amazing job. Although it took many, many trips to get relief and get the root canal, I really appreciated that Dr. Bayat was very thorough and made the experience fee safe. They really go above and beyond. Highly recommend.

If you want an Endodontist who will put you at ease ( not ) by saying, "Let's get this nightmare…read moreover with," right before you get your first root canal, than Dr. Bayat is your man. That's what he did with me. When the root canal was finished, I told him, "It would've been nice if there had been a LITTLE less chit chat during it" ( he chit chatted with his assistant nearly constantly during the root canal ). Instead of accepting the constructive criticism, and maybe learning from it, he got defensive. Then I mentioned how I didn't have much anxiety coming in, until he said, "Let's get this nightmare over." He got MORE defensive. "We have anesthesia available," he said. I don't know, simply not referring to the procedure as a "nightmare," right before performing it, seems a lot easier than doing anesthesia. On a side note, but worth mentioning, before the surgery, something in our conversation led me to joke, "My dad didn't tell me about sex growing up. One day my dad said, 'You know about the birds and the bees, right?' I said, 'Yeah.' And he said, 'Good, I'm glad we had this discussion'.... That was a joke." Dr. Bayat said, "Well, here's something that's NOT a joke. The only time my dad mentioned sex was he said, 'Don't get AIDS.'" I think he also said that his dad said, "Don't be gay." So, again, words that might not put certain patients at ease. Dr. Bayat seemed alright when I first met him, a week ago. It was very disappointing to see this other side of him, especially on the day of my first root canal.

I had never had a root canal or anything like this before so I was navigating this very painful and very scary thing for the first time. I must've called 20 different offices trying to get some relief because Friday morning when I woke up, the pain was excruciating. I called the Oregon Endodontic Group and I was lucky enough to get Emily in the office on the phone. Knowing they had a packed schedule, heading into an extended holiday weekend she put me on hold two different times in attempt to help me. She was unable to guarantee me anything, but told me she would take my Information and call me if someone canceled. After many more calls, my phone rang and it was Emily. She told me she couldn't guarantee me a root canal, but that she would figure something out and told me to head down and that they would try to squeeze me in, in-between appointments. As I called many places desperately seeking help, I didn't get anyone to give me the time of day, but she (Emily) had clearly put in extra work and care to help me. As a result, she was able to get me in a chair and eventually evaluated by the Endodontist. Dr. Tarsa suggested I have the tooth extracted as she felt like there was a good chance it couldn't be saved. I actually had an appointment with another endodontist to have the root canal done on Tuesday but Dr. Tarsa clearly had my best interests at heart which I viewed as showing honesty and integrity. She doesn't do extractions so I was worried about having to wait through the weekend again as I would need to see an oral surgeon for this. Emily was back in my corner calling surgeons trying to get me in. Finally, she got an oral surgeon across town to agree to squeeze me in which was a miracle. I went across town to Three Rivers Oral Surgery and they got me in right before they closed (they stayed late for me). In a world where it is sometimes a challenge to find someone that truly care's for the customer, Emily was my savior. I could tell during my first phone call to the office. She wanted to help me. I don't actually think anyone canceled, I think she continued to advocate for me after my call and promptly called me back. If it wasn't for her, it would've been a painful and rough weekend for me. Instead, I had a pain-free wonderful weekend with my family. Words can't describe how much I appreciate her care and efforts to help me. If everyone in the medical industry had office personnel like her the world would be a better place. From the bottom of my heart Emily, thank you.
